    new to the game

hello i downloaded the game to try it out, i have heard mixed messages about the game/community but i wanted to see for myself. i am going with F2P atm and will go from there, i am curious how is the community here? are there any helpful guilds that can lend a hand for new players?

    Welcome to the game, Keepitsimple!

Having played for almost 3 years, I can say that it is a very enjoyable game, especially if you are a fan of Tolkien. It isn't perfect by any means, but the content up to Mirkwood is pretty solid.

These days, F2P is probably the most sensible option, though The Mithril Edition is pretty good value and will easily get you to Level 60 if you are looking to add anything straight away.

As far as community goes, I would recommend that you try out a few different servers and see which one tickles your fancy. Personally, I have had mixed results and the fact that most of my characters are on Arkenstone is because it's less lonely there for me. I have had some pretty positive experiences on Crickhollow and Firefoot, and, generally, a slightly more mature attitude in the social outlets (chat, public spaces etc). In any case, try a few different servers out and see which one fits your style of play and personality best.

Take the Forum with a grain of salt, would be my best advice here. There is some very good information to found within its annals, but there is also a healthy dose of discontent that does not always represent the majority. Still, it is a very good way to be informed.

    I hope that helps!
If you venture into Ark, feel free to send me a mail or PST.
It's always nice to meet new people.

Crickhollow is a very special server to me, i started my first kinship here over a year ago now and it grew into the largest kin on the server very quickly. So to answer your questions, the community i have found is very diverse we have our share of the immature players, but we also have a large community of end-gamers who are always willing to lend a helping hand to one of the newer players. In bree on weekends can be very chaotic at times, but this game has been a very entertaining and learning experience for me let me know if you choose crickhollow i have a low level alt and would love to play with you. also if you are looking for a kinship the Kights who say NI would love to have you (yes i spelled Knights wrong).

As to the number of servers to try out, that comes down to patience and interest.

Perhaps give Crickhollow a go with a character until at least the mid-20s or 30s. It will give you an opportunity to run some group content (the Great Barrow at the very least) and meet some other gamers. You could also try another server and sort of alternate between the two - again, Firefoot, I find, rather pleasant or Vilya has a solid group, as well. This will allow you to see which offers you an experience suitable to your tastes.

If you do bounce between 2 or more, it will obviously slow your levelling down, but at the same time you will be able to accrue valuable TP.
