Did anyone request and obtain a refund for the pre-purchase?
In light of so many threads and comments filled with disappointment about the pre-purchase, I would like to know if anyone actually made a request for a refund and obtained it? If so, would you please share the process and your experience?
Some players are regretting having done the pre-purchase based on the FAQ information that the instance cluster would be included, which was later retracted by Turbine. I am one of the players that will NOT request a refund (because I'm simply very excited, happy with my pre-purchase and looking forward to Rohan), but I would like to know if a refund option is a reality with these type of digital pre-purchases or if there is some clause that prevents a refund?

Re: Did anyone request and obtain a refund for the pre-purchase?
I know there are a lot of threads about the pricing of RoR and disappointment about its contents but as far as I am aware the direct question of 'has anyone obtained a refund having pre-ordered based on the original FAQ which stated instances would be included' has not been clearly asked and answered. Since asking this question on one of many other threads would easily get lost and buried I think it is good that it has its own separate thread.
There does seem to be many who purchased the pre-order based on the false information about instances being included who have indicated they wish they hadn't or wouldn't have pre-ordered if they had been given accurate information from Turbine originally. It would be great if those who have tried to get a refund could let us know the outcome here.
For those wanting a refund and haven't yet tried to get one I would recommend speaking to Digital River and saying you bought the product based on false advertising by Turbine and as such want a refund. They are legally obligated to provide a refund on this basis. If this fails you may want to try your credit card company as they can contest the charge too.
Turbine has a strict no refund policy which is fine on the basis of you buying the expansion as sold and have just changed your mind. When it comes to them misrepresenting the product you purchased (false advertising) then you have consumer rights which Turbine and Digital River are legally bound to adhere to.

luckily not having pre-ordered yet myself, I would wonder how turbine would react to blocking the transaction on the credit card, marking it as unlawful whatever (and of course not adding the key to your account)..
edit: and of course having exhausted the game support options..
Of course, Turbine refuses to do so. BUT there is some hint in the thread that you can write complaint with the Better Business Bureau. That way they should refund you.

Re: Did anyone request and obtain a refund for the pre-purchase?
As was pointed out there were several who managed to get refunds, one very recently through the Better Business Bureau. The fact Turbine had the Instance Cluster included and then changed the FAQ after they released RoR for Pre-Order would validate your reason for cancellation even if you just contacted your credit card company and explained what happened.
Let me point something out to everyone though, there is a clause in the Terms of Service you should be aware of.
Account Suspension/Deletion. TURBINE MAY SUSPEND, TERMINATE, MODIFY, OR DELETE THE ACCOUNT AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU. Most account suspensions, terminations and/or deletions are the result of violations of this TOS.
Basically if you press the issue for a refund you could find your account terminated, in several of the complaints I read filed against Turbine at the BBB that is what happened. So this is the type of business practice you're dealing with.
It is MUCH MUCH better not to buy anything from Turbine at all then it is to try and get a refund from them.

I just met "Game accounts manager" personally. Such a kind friendly guy, don't hesitate to write him your account name and detailed complaint! This is his photo.. :-D

Someone posted a "way" to do that in last September: see this posting in an other forum. And a posting from last June (if ou live in the EU/UK)

Re: Did anyone request and obtain a refund for the pre-purchase?
I was thinking about creating a thread on this question yesterday but decided not to for fear of mods...
My thinking is that Turbine should just bite the bullet and include the instance cluster will all pre-purchases that have been made already and on any pre-purchases that will be made from this point on.
Firstly I would've expected the IC as a part of the pre-purchase it even if it hadn't been mis printed in the FAQ and I would've been upset to find out later that it wasn't.
Secondly since it was in the FAQ (even if it was a mistake) they should honor it.
Sure it will cut into the profit they were expecting but the consequnces of community up-in-arms will also cut into those expected profits.
Is should have been included in the first place and the fact that there was a misrepresentation on the part of Turbine should make this a no brainer = include the IC on ALL pre-purchases and CUT YOUR LOSSES NOW !
Throwing in a 1000-1500 TP bonus for all the Pre-purchases as well might serve to smooth some of the ruffled feathers out here in customer land.
