    Re: Festival is over

I did the last stomping shrew run, the shrews came after me only interrupting the planting process. I had 7/10 when I stomped the last enormous shrew in this year, then I run to get the last 5 springs leaves I needed to get the last item I wanted. And the festival ended 30 secs later.

    I think that explain everything

    Re: Festival is over

Myself, I misjudged when it was going to end (why does it end at 2 CDT if the quests reset at 3 for the entire two weeks?), so I'm left with unspent tokens that I can't do anything with. (It also doesn't help that I ended up 4 leaves short of someone's horse, but I'm not asking for the quests back. That's my tough luck.)

But I wish the reward-givers would stick around, even just one day longer than the festival. To allow people to spend their last-minute gains. (I'm sure I'm not the only one.)

At least I got the maps, Simbelmyne (sp) cosmetics, and all the horses I wanted except my Hobbit's. But I'm left with about 90 or so spring leaves across four characters, and a big steaming pile of flowers on my main.

And I DID have a blast with the festival, essentially blowing off any REAL progress in the game. *grin*

    Re: Festival is over

It is the very first festival that I hardly got to play, due to RL issues
I got the race mount on one toon, and got to gather flowers 3x... but that was the end of that, for me. (kinda figures that this one time, there was no extension, LOL).

I hope that others had a lot of fun, I had a friend get 2 jester mounts

I second the wish for the vendors to remain an extra day, for those who have some barter items left.

I enjoyed the festival as always, but Spring Festival has always been my least favourite in this game. Summer has better gear and I love the fishing quests, Fall has more fun in general, but my favourite has to be Yule. I just love that one most!

Gotta agree here....I LOVED the spring festival and all my advancement in game came to a standstill as it does with every oncoming festival.....but I am really not the flower-picking, gardening sort of fellow so I am really not much into the spring festival quests....the hedge is great fun and the new steed is one of the coolest looking steeds in the game.....

But I am really looking forward to the Summer festival now....with all the fishing and all not to mention, the new Farmer's Fair or something that theyre gonna have this year.....

My favorite though will always be the Yule festival....closely followed by Harvestmath......I just wish they made a separate instanced town/festival area for each festival.....like Winter Home is for Yule fest.....it would be great to have one for each festival

My favorite part was running the maze. It was really lots of fun. I also like the quests where you have to collect things, but the summer festival has better collecting quests because the items are also "hidden". : )
Least favorite thing: that flower quest for the boxes. Pain in the butt, I only tried it once.

I'm looking forward to the summer festival too. I've never been to a yule festival, yet, so I'm looking forward to that, but it's a ways off still.

    AW: Festival is over

I liked the spring festival as well, especially running around the maze, drinking beer and ending up somewhere else. I had a good laugh at that!

I was also very proud to run across a fence while being drunk!

Unfortunately I did not get the jester horse, I heard that you could get that from the gift boxes. I collected many flowers to get gift boxes, and collecting the flowers was maybe fun for the first hour - but then it wasn't fun at all. So - no jester steed for my little hobbit. Maybe another time. I did get the Simbelmynë steed, though, which is alright - the one steed though with the yellow and green garment - uhm - was not something that I wanted to get... just not really my color-combination

Looking forward to the next festival, I love stuff that gives you an alternative to instances and traiting!

    AW: Festival is over

The new Simbelmynë cloak was my personal favorite. Whoever keeps designing these festival items is really doing a outstanding job

Second favorite was another +68% speed mount you could win and I'm looking forward to another one of these once summer festival goes live (the tokens from the store were kinda *meh*, but you really had a fair chance of winning them if you knew where to look for the flower patches )

Brand new festival starting next month ... Looking forward to it!

    Re: Festival is over

This festival was a little too much, especially since it was right after the anniversary-event. I liked parts of it, gathered flowers like everyone and was very pleasantly surprised to find the questchain in Brockenborings (I have a clover patch in my garden to prove it). I only tried the maze once, (read once as 45 minutes...) and dirtied my boots while stomping shrews, which was quite fun. There were some nice cosmetics, my minnie is walking around in a brand new crimson-dyed tunic. I haven't got the symbelmyne steed though, too expensive to my taste. In hindsight I did have enough leafs (and race-tokens, all from lotteries) to purchase it.

Since it was my first spring-festival I can't say I've given it all the attention it needed, but let's see what next year'll bring. I am looking forward to the summer-fest, which will be my first second festival ever Can't wait to start fishing again, and bring my proficiency up to 200. Come to think of it, the oldest items in my vault are some leftover tokens and fishies from last summer.

I agree with this about a separate area for the festival. For all but my hunter, I spent LOTS of time just going from place to place. This was my first spring festival and I got both horses for 6 of my alts. The 7th one just got the spring steed, but then I just started her Friday night.

Glad some people liked the shrews. I have NO reflexes or coordination, so it was a pain to me after the first couple of times. I think the easier times was when there were fewer competitors.

Glad some people liked the fence walking. I can't even do it sober!!!! (See above excuse. )

I'm looking forward to seeing the summer festival. I didn't know what festivals were all about last year. The Yule festival was the first one I participated in and now I'm hooked!

I guess my favorite part of this one was the maze. But after doing it daily for 7 alts to get horses (yes, I did some quests daily in Duillond, too), I am REALLY glad to say goodbye to it until next year.

    Re: Festival is over

I enjoyed the variety of stuff to do and ways to grind the leaves. Really wanted the Jester horse, but just couldnt face the dissappointment of spending an hour picking flowers to get 6 notes of affection, 4 orange flower boxes and a crimson dye. I did it a few times, then gave up. Perhaps if it was a 20 min quest like the summer fishing ones, more people would have gone for it.
Got the new steed for a couple of my ladies, it really is a beautiful horse, and a couple of matching cosmetics. I think they are all really striking, and Turbine are doing a great job with designing new outfits and horses for the festivals, so this was my favourite part. While I loved the horse and festival, I know a alot of men didnt do the festival because the rewards, while beautiful, were a tad girly. Cant wait to see the horse and cosmetics for the next festival.
And I agree, I wish the vendors could stay around a little longer!

Good bye shrews. You are safe til next year. Was there an announcement that the festival was over? Did the NPCs just disappear? I always wondered what sort of thing happens when things turn off.

From what I have witnessed in the past, all the festival vendors have magic rings that they put on and they all just disappear. It doesn't matter if you are talking with them (i.e. Bartering), they just vanish.

It would be nice if they at least waved goodbye. Kinda rude of them.

Oh, well.... at least they gave me nice stuff.

    Smile Re: Festival is over

Yeah, This year's Spring fest was probably the first one I've just HAD to have the steed (the steeds of previous spring years at the time cost 4+ gold, and were not overly pretty, I don't miss them). The steed this year is omigosh beautiful, and has a wonderful lore behind it's name as well. So my LM, hunter, minstrel got theirs. Oddly so did my rarely played warden. I found out yesterday I still had all of the day to earn it, so she stomped out 60 some leaves outta the shrews. Completed the two horse races (also on this last day mind you, so it was either the Simbel or the Old yeller mare. Yeah, obvious decision there, eh?) And then with the other 22 leaves left over she snagged the Sack of petals.

Oh totally forgot the grind to get 300 D.R.A.G.O.N. consumables gathered on my LM, hunter and mini. (Would have been burg too, but she's got a bunch of gear waiting for her to level, so she has practically no room. That will be her 'next spring' project, she still has a bunch of fall consumables to use.)

I did the flower gathering on my LM all of.. about 5-6 times. Wanted to do more, but sometimes a body just can't make themselves do that repetetively. Did gather a bunch of tickets, so about 15 of those sitting in the shared vault. Reminded myself yesterday to cash allll those flowers in. I don't know if I have won a Jester steed yet, I sent all my boxes to my minstrel, as she is the only one without a 68% speed mount. So wish Griffy luck when you see her staring at her mailbox for ages, hehe.

My hunter delved into starting up with the Ale Association, she managed to get up to Friend status, (all the way from complete Enemy/Nemesis status) via many reputation tokens. The rest of my lowbies have not yet hit Kindred with the Inn League, so they casually were working on that via quests, and the maze. My cappy picked up the last 4 maps I needed for the deedly among all my chars. I actually ended up skipping over my burg for the beautiful horse. As she is the only one I splurged points on and bought a steed of the night for, last year. So she didn't particularly need to pick up the Simbelmyne steed, although she's (and my warden) "of Rohan". She'll gladly wait for next year, if she wants to try the girlier side of steeds.

Relatively good time, I'd wish for another week, so that I could get more sleep between grinding flower gathering quests, but all in all, it was not a bad spring fest at all. And I'm pretty sure I stomped all the peskiness out of it. (poor shrews) I forget which character I got all the new cosmetics on, but stuffed in the shared vault for now til I sort that out. *wanders off to see if a Jester Steed found it's way to the mailbox, I'll letcha know when I find out. If you mean the maps for the Cartographer deed, they were at the same vendors/barterers who had the cosmetics... which I think is how it was for all the previous maps too.

I had guests staying for most of the festival, so I couldn't spend a whole hour on such a task either. However, once I had run a few alts through the starting quest, I was generating tokens faster than I could use them. At that point I decided I wouldn't mind only doing 30 minutes of flower picking or whatever I could squeeze in. Eventually, I think I picked only about 300 flowers of each type, spread over multiple sessions. It wasn't such a back-breaker, and I ended up with the jester horse on two characters.

Enjoyed the festival this year, tho I didnt bother with Brockenborings part as I had already done that before. I actually enjoyed the flower gathering bits...I know.. I must be crazy! But if its a quiet part of the day for the server it could be relaxing to just nip around and get them with no competition.. the hour went fast as you had to be alert the whole time. Shrew smash could be fun if you had a good group to roleplay with, or a drag if you had idjits who spammed the emotes during the smashing or who used aggressive pets to tag all the shrews with.

for those of you with loot left unspent, keep it till next time then you will be thrilled to just be able and go get the new horse or items straight off. I always try to leave my mains with enough tokens to do that the next time the festival runs thru.

I wish they would instance the areas for the festivals for a completely different reason.

Take the flower gathering with the festival just passed. High level characters running through lowbie areas slaughtering everything in sight to grab flowers causes new players/characters questing to grind to a complete standstill as the beasts they need to kill are nowhere to be found.

    Just not a good design.

    Re: Festival is over

This was a fun Festival, I really like all of them so far!

I only had to do the flower quest twice and got the Jester steed. I love how it jingle jangles as you run with it.

I had almost everything I wanted on all my alts by the time I got the Jester steed (i only have one toon with a horse so no big deal), so I haaaaad to go back and grind more leaves so i could get the cute Spring Dandy tunic and cap. It dyes very nicely, and I had to dye it red, to go with the Jester steed. Last festival I didn't get to buy both mounts, and this festival I made the horses my main priority.

The shrew stomping was fun, and what was especially entertaining was all the goofy things other players would do to pass the time until the next round. Drunk fence-walking was fun, repeatable quests were nice, I basically liked all of it. Some characters weren't "interested" in this festival though. I'm not a role-player but some of my toons are developing personalities.

Drunk maze walking was fun too

The clothes for the festival are just beautifully designed. Kudos to whoever designs the cosmetics...I may be a relatively new free player but I LOVE THE FACT that I can LOOK like I've played for years at 75!!!

I'm glad to see that you still get DRAGON credit after the festival. Five minute cooldown is quite a while but I understand that helps keep the annoying spamming down.

Great festival. Off to grind more TP.

I started a new elf RK during the festival. There was a trio in the wolf area that were killing everything in sight, camping the flower spawns and emoting rudely at lowbies trying to quest there. This same trio stayed for a good 4 hours with breaks just long enough to go retake the flower quest. I finally logged out there and just checked back every so often to see if I could possibly get my quests done.

My sister ran into a similar thing in the shire.

It is just not good design. Particularly for new people who's only impression of the game is what they see in their first few hours playing.

I earned myself the horse and nearly the whole Simbelmynë clothing line, save for the tunic. So yeah, I had a blast. I absolutely love the circlet on my Elf, and the dress and hat go with my Hobbit so well. The horse went to my Rohirrim huntress.

This was the first festival I have taken part in long time since, after ignoring so many of the other ones. I guess after all the grinding I forgot how great it's just to have fun with others, regardless of level.

I was looking into the D.R.A.G.O.N. skill as well. I could have gathered all the bottles but then I made some calculations. Even if you had all the bottles, it still takes a huge amount of time to get the skill, so I dropped that goal.

maybe they were knocking deeds out with the flower quest?
there is absolutely no reason for anyone over what..17?...to be killing those wolves, other than deeds.

the quest design isn't bad at all.

I would go kill a few wolves between shrew stomps while doing the dailies to knock out a few more on the slayer deed. Some day I'll finish those slayer deeds in Ered Luin...

I would agree except that they stayed in there for HOURS. Even on level I can do the 2 wolf slayer deeds in about 30 minutes. No this was using the festival as an excuse to grief lowbies.

A level 75 can clear that entire area of wolves in about 5 minutes. Allowing 5 minutes for a respawn and 3 full clears to get the 90 total wolves needed they shouldn't have had to be there more than 30 minutes.

Festival quest stuff should not be in lowbie areas where they have to kill required MoBs for quests.

    Re: Festival is over

Well, this was my very first festival since starting this game a couple of weeks ago. And I have to say, I loved it. In fact, it's probably the only reason I'm not farther along in my leveling than I am. I did everything, from shrew stomping -- sadly I was never able to stomp the big guy -- to tavern hopping, dancing and flower collecting. I got all of the festival clothing, the dances (all but the second dwarf one because I started on them too late), some of the furniture for my hobbit hole, and both ponies. I was hoping to get the jester steed, but unfortunately wasn't lucky enough.

But from everything my veteran friends (the ones who got me to try this game, and I'm glad they did) have told me about it, I'm looking forward to Yuletide the most right now.

I like them in the low level areas, because my alts are all noobs and I like to do the festival stuff with them too. I wouldn't mind if they moved it someplace relatively neutral, though. Like...neighborhoods, or their own instance or something. But I would really miss having the festivals by the Party Tree in the Shire...

(Also, did that wolf deed on one of my new characters a few days ago and had no poblems. Somebody was doing the flower quest around there, but they didn't bother me at all.)
