Cannot master Expert level Tailor even after Artisian quest. Help?
Hi all,
I have an Armorer who has completed his Artisan quest to advance to Artisan level Metalworking. He also managed to master the Apprentice, Journeyman and Expert levels in Metalworking and is working on Artisan level.
This past weekend, I worked on his crafting levels in Tailor. He has mastered the Apprentice level and is working on mastering Journeyman level. I was able to get him to the point on Expert level to get the quest to unlock the Artisan level. I completed the quest in Esteldin and was able to start gaining XP for the Artisan level.
However, I noticed that the yellow/gold bar for mastering the Expert level never appeared after completing the quest. So I cannot gain any XP to master that level.
Is this a bug? Do I need to master Journeyman level before being able to master Expert level?

Still not sure from the amount of detail given, but if your problem hasn't yet cleared, be sure the Expert Armorer doesn't STILL have a quest ring. There is an additional step after completing & turning in the quest. I don't think Artisan opens until to talk to him AGAIN (after completing the quest)

I thought that they got rid of the quests for crafting advancement. I've powered through quite a few crafting tiers in the past month or two without having to do a quest.

They made them do-able, but they're not gone. Now, you have to craft 3 items and then pass them out to NPCs in the immediate vicinity, then talk to the crafter again (and then talk to him again). I do NOT think these new quests were there when they first dropped the old quests, but I'm fuzzy on the timing of the update(s)

The new make three things came about after the dropping of the actual crafting ~ exploration type quests disappeared. I know it made crafting alts much easier to level, but I lost some of my favourite quests. It was always good karma to help someone trying to do their crafting quests in an area that was red or purple to them. It is one of the changes that I find myself missing whenever I go by an area or a mob from those quests. I am just old and sentimental i guess

Bummer. I recall trying to get to tier 5 crafting on my Elf Hunter/Historian, and the quests required you to go to a camp in Western Angmar and to a frozen lake at another site in the Misty Mountains. I was well below level, but was able to use Sylvan Shadows to stealth my way to the sites (if I was very careful) and then port out real quick. Those were fun quests.

Yeah, that's a bittersweet change to the way crafting works, but probably for the "greater good." I am fortunate to have a wonderful kin of big kids that helped me do a few of them before the change that got rid of the original quests, but for the multitudes of F2P newcomers who don't have that kin, it's a deal-breaker.
I think I did the cook quest (killing the boar in Giant Valley, Trollshaws) 2x, the tailor quest (Kingsfell, North Downs?) 2x, and the metalsmith (Bruinen Source - West, Misty Mountains?) 1x before the change. Many others didn't get there until after they removed the quests..
I must admit, I do NOT miss Little Miss Prissypants at Thornley's Worksite sending me to Trestlebridge to scrounge driftwood because she's an [expletive deleted].

Yes, I thought that they were a valiant attempt at keeping crafting alt twinks from just power-leveling the crafts to T5 right away. Of course kins still were able to circumvent this to an extent, but it didn't bother me as much since it was at least encouraging group play. Now the best T6 and higher recipes appear to be reputation gated, meaning that even if you level a crafting alt to cap and unlock all 7 tiers of crafting (soon to be 8) you still have to grind rep to get the good recipes.
