I feel like the time might be right to make festival currency bound to account (in the barter wallet as well as for those who haven't purchased it). I do realize that this will mean drastic increases to some player stockpiles, but allow me to make my case.
As it stands now, I must log out and log in several different characters to do daily quests to get enough currency for things I want. When I do it on one character, there is a "time investment" not just in the repeatable events, but in the riding around and running from place to place. Rather than spending my time at a festival, I'm actually just logging out, riding or running somewhere, doing some simple quests, then logging out and logging in, rinse and repeat - simply to have one character purchase a dress one day, another character gets the hat, another gets a map, another gets something else...and it can all be shared via shared storage.
Now, some players like completing deeds on multiple characters. I do, too. Nothing would change. Those players still have to log out and log in and complete whatever deeds you wish to implement for those titles and rewards. That doesn't change. All that changes is, when I'm done with all the deeds I WANT to complete on that character (and bound rewards, such as horses or others), I don't have to use that particular character to complete things in order to get a few handful currency. In fact, it would encourage players TO use their alts more if they want those daily quest completions, but otherwise, if I like stomping shrews on my main, I don't HAVE to worry about logging in another character. I can use the same character to ride around and do one set of dailies or I can use multiple characters to complete them. Things like horse race tokens could remain bound to player if you wish, but I don't see the need (considering some of my non-riding characters have tokens already from winning lotteries).
I don't see how there would be any "abuse" of the current system. Players still have to log in to multiple characters if they want those rewards, but it takes some of the burden off players who have MANY characters and feel that compulsion. Do those players HAVE to do it now? No, but that compulsion is unhealthy and for me, at least, it makes festivals like this one much less enjoyable. I'd love to be able to drop into the shrew stomp, but for me, there are too many alts that have to run through the hedge maze...and get to the hedge maze...and collect twine in Celondim but wood and flax closer to Duillond.
It would also solve an issue I currently have with the pirate event currency. It's all on ONE character's barter wallet! When I purchased it, those things were bound to character. When I picked up the cram and ale, it was not. I was able to store it on one character to make things nice and neat. Now one character has all of it and there's no reason it should be, considering it wasn't gained on one character. There was no warning, which is perfectly within your purview, but I should think it silly to require it picked up on all different characters...again.
Anyway, I do believe that this is a player-friendly suggestion, and considering the fun nature of the festivals and the other things which have more relevance to endgame raiders that are shared between the account, I think festival currency could use this change.
I suppose that would be a parallel, but I was thinking just turning them from bound to player to account, like eglain marks, unhatched spider eggs, marks, medallions, rift armour jewels, etc. Making the leaves and tokens bound to an account isn't really much different from the rewards themselves being unbound at all.
I know it's a little belated, but I see that festival currency is being changed into one universal currency, still bound to character. I'm not sure yet how I feel about it, except to say that the festivals I DO enjoy taking part in will be a great source of extra tokens making up for the ones that I loathe. This is at least an alternative, especially with the introduction of the festival ticket quest reset. I do think it's a mistake to remove the free tickets, because I still don't think people will buy tickets and moving to required participation with tickets would be a HUGE mistake.
I DID notice that the Kegs of Cram and Bottles of Ale from the Pirate Day quests were made Bound to Account which is a great change and I wanted to say thank you for that. I am very glad to see that change after those items were placed into the barter wallet. Thank you very much.
