In poking around the promo screenies for Rohan, I couldn't help but notice a few outfits and horses I hadn't seen before.
Presumably, at least some of these are the sorts of things we'll be finding in our travels through Rohan. And given as we're not getting an instance cluster just yet, perhaps they're from crafting and questing?

First picture is the steed of Eastemnet that comes with expansion purchase. The black horse on the right of the 3rd picture should be the prized smokey black horse from Mirkwood.
The 4th picture is interesting. The mount on the right is the older PAX mount, the Cremello steed. But the one in the front... Loot bags, rope, masked horse, daggers, lighter armored character on top.... future steed of the Burglar?

Aye, I know about those horses, I just just shaded out the third and fourth images for general clarity, since they're so busy otherwise. Thanky though!

Ooh, good point. I was wondering about that one, since all the gear on it is reminiscent of the class mounts so far, but I couldn't fathom who'd be carrying tiny daggers and lengths of rope. Now that you mention it, the mask and all those lootbags and pouches (for tricks of the trade, perhaps) do rather befit a Burglar.

While we're on the topic, I'd like to make just one more plug for cosmetic *female* Rohirrim dress. This would consist of an undergown, possibly with many vertical pleats,* with an overgarment that took the form either of a tube of fabric that wrapped around the whole body, or a pair of aprons hanging fore-and-aft. Either of these would be pinned at the shoulder with elaborate brooches. This is what Anglo-Saxon women wore up until Christianity came in, and since that is several long Ages in the future from where we are, it's the appropriate clothing for Rohirrim women who are not fighting. When they are fighting they will of course wear the same armour as the men.
_____
*This was done by taking the gown while still damp, twisting it, and wrapping it around a broomstick while it dried. There was a fad for doing this with lightweight Indian cotton skirts in ... the sixties? Seventies? It's been a long time and I forget.
I like the segmented heavy armor that comes with the pre-order. The helm is curious though because it departs from the nordic designs we had for the Theodred's helm earlier on in ROI.
Did you really think this signature would be worth reading?

Re: Cosmetics of Rohan
I think the new horse skin is pretty cool. Overall, I think the armor/cosmetics they've been showing have been quite nice too. The armor you get for pre-ordering the legendary edition looks really cool and I'm hoping it's a sign of things to come. Even the helmet isn't bad.
They've really ramped up the quality on the armor/cosmetic designs in this game in the last year or two. There was some iffy stuff in the past, but it's increasingly rare in my opinion. I'm always excited to see new cloak designs too, those have always been excellent overall.

I think some dresses would be a great addition at some point. I'm not sure if anyone else was disappointed to see that none of the cosmetic items in the pre-order were dye-able, but I am always a huge fan of different color options so that I can more easily create a unique look for any situation. Maybe that could be updated at some point?

Of course we're very disappointed! Especially since the complete cosmetic pack only comes with the expensive Legendary edition. Not making these pieces dyeable restricts their cosmetic usage considerably; players that use and value cosmetics, don't want to run around and look the same as everyone else and players that don't care about cosmetics might not even purchase the Legendary edition. I'm disappointed about the pre-purchase cloaks as well for the same reasons.
Couldnt find a thread for my questions, so this is as good a place as any...
What will we be able to use our old horses for with regards to war-steeds?
I know we will still be able to use them for travel etc but surely we will be allowed to use them as war-horse cosmetics too?
Would seem to be a real shame to waste all those old horse skins, especialy if you like to collect them like me. Maybe we can use them to boost the stats of our war-steed by farming them / deconing them, if all they will be good for is sitting in the mount panel gathering dust?
Could be good to make them all horses shared account wide too, to maximise use of them via alts etc, would be very popular imo...just a thought! ;p
RE the new cosmetics: I like them, the pre-order horse is quite nice and the armour set is very cool looking, just a shame there arent some more generic versions to use too as not everyones toons are from Rohan (yes I know its the Rohan expansion!) and both the horse and armour is very Rohirrim, at least with RoI we had a few choices. The option of not being able to dye them means there are already a lot of "twins" out there too.
BUT! I have to agree, they have really uped their game when it comes to armour/mount cosmetics recently.

All I am aware of is that it was stated that some of the premium store mounts will award an equivalent skin for the war steeds.

And why would they be wasted? For all we know, outside of the mounted combat area the war steeds are as good or bad for travel as any other mount.
You neither really need a +68% nor a 250 morale horse in most travel situations, and thats not going to change with war steeds (I believe Sapience stated their standard speed would still be +68%). Personally, I have my favourite mount on a quickslot but will open the mount list now and then and just pick one at random. The introduction of warsteeds as regular travel mounts is not going to change that (unless they will deliver some bonus we dont know about yet).
Say what you like about the rest of RoI, but the armour cosmetics they made for it were sublime. I have no doubts at all that this expac will raise the bar once more.
Particularly interested to see what kind of horse cosmetics will be available.
Hope it isnt just the store horses skins that can be used for your war horse, the old ones will be wasted if that is the case as your war steed can be used for travel in all areas so whats the point of gettin a slower one out? Shame
I like the idea of new cosmetic slots, things like tattoo slots or slots for extra spikes or whatever on armour pieces, mix things up a bit.
Being able to dye pieces more than 1 colour and being able to choose where the colour goes on the pieces would be very nice too, would make for far more unique set-ups.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE LET US CHOOSE THE SHAPE AND DESIGN OF SHIELDS! Even if its just slottin shields from the game now into a cosmetic slot to hide the real thing would be a start! *begs*
ALSO! Not sure how hard it would be to implement (Im no expert!) im guessin it would be hard or they would have done it already, I know other games have done it but unique Kinship emblems/logos on cloaks etc would be very nice, just throwing it out there.

That, and some of us just plain don't wanna wear green! That's one thing I liked about the Isengard cosmetics - even though they couldn't be dyed, they at least came in three colors. One of those was red, which is my would-be Rohir shieldmaiden's color of choice. It also happened to be a recurring alternate color in the camps of the Gap, as seen in the tents and Grimbold's armor. A pity that didn't continue in this case.

As mentioned in other posts, it's been stated that certain store-bought mounts will have matching war-steed skins.

Your other mounts can still be used as travel mounts anywhere in Middle-earth, including in Rohan, but you will not be able to fight from horseback using these mounts. Also any character that is not at cap level will still need travel mounts for accelerated travel just as they do now. If you have purchased certain mounts via the LOTRO Store, you will receive a War-steed cosmetic variant that will allow you to further customize your War-steed. This includes the various class mounts and the Steed of Night.
However, I think it was stated elsewhere (Sapience or one of the many interviews from the past couple weeks) that that's what they're doing for the release, and that more skins will probably follow after. That is, they're delivering matching skins for the horses people have directly paid money for, and others (say, reputation or festival mounts) may follow in the future. Personally, I'd imagine festival steeds released post-RoR might come with a war-steed skin as a matter of process (so as not to increase the backlog, while also promoting the new feature), but that remains to be seen.
Still! There are a few skins visible in the promo shots:

I'm willing to bet the steed of the burglar isn't the only class-steed visible in the screens... Considering that it, too, got a change of skin (from blonde sorrel to...what? Blood bay?), they may get some mods. And we still haven't heard about the steeds of Minstrel, Lore-Master, Captain and Warden...
What drew my attention was the horse with the chainmail bits and pieces. That one also sports a shield and a sword at its flank. Perhaps for a Captain?
I am always excited about new cosmetics in the game. Other than admiration i would like to say that i hope they also include chest pieces that do not extend past the waist or cover the legs. The more pieces of armor that are visible the better custom combinations will look (i hope i explain myself).
More importantly to me is i would like to know if the model used in the Cloak of the Westfold, Eorlingas, and Helmingas will be made available to all players in the expansion. Having this amazing cloak (amazing in my opinion) would make me incredibly happy. I regret not pre purchasing RoI and missing out on these. I eventually did buy the Legendary edition but by the time i did the cloaks and i think the trinket were removed. A very sore disappointment i had to experience when i logged on that day.
Does anyone know if we will see this model for cloaks in the future?
Quest/barter gear is an interesting thing. There's three sets, one for each weight, but different versions have the various symbols of the different regions (and of the men that live there). For example, you can barter for cloaks in Harwick, but different level cloaks feature the symbol of different groups.
Some quest rewards also feature a Fangorn emblem, with a white tree over a black field.

As if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns. In dark Mindolluin's sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the North wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last.

Is it possible to NOT equip any horse cosmetics, or perhaps JUST a saddle? I really hate this trend of covering up the whole horse with fluff. I would love to see some screenshots of the different components, such as saddles, all by themselves.
Oh, one more question: Is the steed appearance visible outside Rohan? I know I read you can use the horse all over the world, but I wondered if the appearance works world-wide, too.
One more... if you pre-order and get the war steed, is that steed able to use the cosmetics, or do you have to be level 75 to do this?
