Last night, while gathering some ore for my jeweler, I headed out from Esteldin toward the open area between there and Doldenin. As I went up the trail by the craft hall I met a gray riderless horse coming into the area. I thought I'd just missed the rider as I went by and thought no more. That is, untill I got almost to the summoning horn and tent further toward the goblin camp. As I gathered some ore and wood I saw the same riderless horse run up a few yards from me and paw (hoof??) to death an ork. The name was -X something followed by Level 75. It trampled that ork and headed for another one a little further away. After dispatching that ork quickly it ran off toward the goblin village. So......what the heck was that all about?? Any one else see it or have any ideas??

Yes, I'm an altaholic, aren't you?? You can find me on Brandywine usually as Amkarion, Arkaraen, Elkarwen, Gilkaran, Ulkaros, Karlas Karnation, or Kaorin.

This, I presume, is the newly introduced instance session play for Mounted Combat that is given to those that have pre-ordered Rohan already.
A complete guess, since I have not logged on in some time.
Yes, this is part of the session play that was introduced with the RoR pre-purchase. One of them is to play as a horse in the world proper, and find some horse traps, which spawn some orcs. You have 30 minutes to finish, and the one in Esteldin takes only about 10 minutes, so I amuse myself by stomping a few other mobs in the area. As a level 75 horse with well over 30k morale, it's rather amusing.
Yeah, I suppose you could amuse yourself by stomping other mobs once you've done your requisite three Ongburz.
I don't see the point in it, because you don't get xp or anything for it. It's a session play; all you get for it is crossing that quest off your deed log (if you hadn't done it before) and adding another point to the other deed, the one that gives you the horse-skin cloak which I, for one, do not want.
But if you enjoy it, well, what the hey. Just don't steal kills from other players who are in the region for some reason. That is not the action of a noble steed of a long and honourable lineage (even though we don't know what that lineage is yet). Note also that the only level 75 mobs in that region are the ones that spawn once a horse has stomped a trap; everything else is as grey as a summer day in San Francisco.

I started a thread about that in ROR forum!
Any way, yes! The riderless horses are session play to add to completed tasks on a DEED list and it is only available by pre-purchase of ROR.

hehehe,
loved getting revenge on Hontimurz (?) and his guards
in the Lonelands after they butchered my mini...
(Yeah I suck at Light-armour classes :P )
Also following questing players around the first day was
pretty funny... (yes I did offer my excuses after)
Just watching them watch you following to the left,
to the right, back and front and then in circles XD
But indeed those riderless horses ARE part of the
new Warhorse deed-quests.

Ahhh, so you can fight other mobs as well during that time? My son will be delighted.
Hmm. A horse player unofficially grouping with a chicken player. That would be cool to do as well.

The sheer joy of sending an Aurochs hurtling through the air with a swift back-kick just doesn't seem to grow old!

I had the exact same thought.
On one session I just ignored the quest altogether and took my horse down to Bree. That definitely piqued a few people's curiosity!
Killing a Boogan somm'ers, 'cause they remind me of Bogarts.

This! Most definitely this! For me it made the extra $30 for the Legendary Pre-Order worth it.
I also ran up the first pass to exact revenge on the Drake Matron. Then the Ork leader in the tent in Dol Denin and the trolls and everything else larger than me that has punted me at one time or the other.
It's a Riot to kick trolls and have them fall dead on TOP of the fort walls. Or to line them up just right to send them down the side of the mountain.
Two thumbs up!

Is the session paly the exclusive content included in the Legendary pre-order? Or is it available to anyone who pre-orders?
Follow someone with the horse. I dumbfounded a few players. It helps if your on vent with a third party player that watching . So they can tell you what other playing saying on glff.
Is it just me or after the initial 9 or so quests you can only do 2 a day to progress to your 60 needed for the deed? Or is it you have to wait for them to change quests daily to complete the whole set to get the warhorse?
This whole quest line seems to be confusing, but playing as a horse is fun.
