Thread: Bring smell to LOTRO

When technology allows for it, that is.

It's not far off as you might imagine...

The concept of "smell-o-vision" has been around for quite some time . But even if it does eventually arrive, I'm going to give it a pass. The wonderful smell of manure in the streets of Bree is one sense too far .

Consider it done! However, smelling that popcorn is making me in the mood for it...! Hopefully its not all gone by the time you get it. =p

Manure is fine as far as smells are concerned but questing in Angmar would claim many casualties with the poisonous air and what not.

I am not worried about my elf, but... I have a feeling that the personal hygene of most of our characters would not make for pleasant aromatic game play.

Just imagine what Goblin-town would smell like.

And besides, this is Turbine, imagine the havoc that the usual bugs could cause if there was smell involved as well.

Hmmm, I'm predicting the reworking of some of the Lothlorien quest chains if they adopt this device.

Well, Turbine tried that in Asheron's Call, sort of.

In the various Allegiance Halls (there's one in or near every city, and they're all built to the same plan), there's a side room that looks as if it's intended to be a stable (though there are no mounts of any kind in AC), and there's a drain in the floor. If you stand over the drain for a certain number of seconds, you get damage and the message that the noxious vapors from the drain are making you sick.

The smell of ####, piss, rot and maggots... Tolkien was never vulgar in his writing, but I doubt Middle-Earth smelt like Elven ####.

For the pie quests, sure... But based on the amount of time I spend staring at my horses' rear ends while traveling... maybe not...

Ya I pass on a drunken dwarf passing gas. Or a Orc that has not taken a bath in years. Or a Rotten elf that died a few weeks ago.

Rivendell, Lothlorien... hmm yeah

Or the smell of my enemies as I blast them to death on my RK? No thanks... ick...

2 cans of orc stink to go please. I'd like large fries and a medium soda with that.
