Re: Riders of Rohan Community Q&A with Aaron "Rowan" Campbell Discussion

I play a Captain a lot and my son plays a Lore Master. Both of the classes rely on companions (heralds/banners or pets). How are they going to work in mounted combat? Also, what about our landscape soldiers, etc ....?

Re: Riders of Rohan Community Q&A with Aaron "Rowan" Campbell Discussion

    Hello,
    off-topic:
I started playing LOTRO 2 years ago as a F2P. 1-2 months later i bought Moria box (with CD and key) -> premium member... A few months later i bought 1 month VIP. It was awsome, swift travel, all traits available, all quests packs, etc... I bought 3 quest packs in 75% sale (Mirkwood, Enedwaith, and more..cant remember). When RoI pre-order was released i bought base pack. Later i bought 3 months VIP and 5000TP (bought all quest packs) in double bonus. Shared marks, medailons etc on account was the best Turbine decision in the whole time. I started play PvMP as creep... My weaver is R6 and i dont have more motivation play it... :-/ PvMP is ruin... Now i have next 3 months VIP. So Codemasters/turbine get a lot of my money.

    on-topic:
I was really happy when RoR was announced, i thought about mounted-combat, new area, new instances and etc... I thought i will buy legendary pack in pre-order... but reality is on another way... Now i am thinking about base pack and i really dont know if i buy it. Prices would be ok with the instance cluster, but we dont know that. We have some information about RoR and future about lotro and these information arent good. With Codemasters era it was awsome, big support, nice sales and nice content. But turbine started ruin this game, no support, poor sales, less and less of content...

Yeah, i probably will buy the pre-order, but i wanna wait for more info. But this is MY LAST CHANGE for turbine... STOP RUIN LOTRO... THIS GAME HAVE/HAD HUGE POTENTIAL!!!!!!

In addition to the Mounted Combat skills, we're developing three new or improved skills for each class. For example, a couple ideas we’re currently experimenting with include: making Sword and Staff a passive skill for Lore-masters at level 40 and improving Hunter’s Desperate Flight to include your entire Fellowship.

    Apologies for the negative feedback.

If we are only to have 3 updates per class please do not let this be one of those for hunters.

There are countless pages of suggestions on the hunter forum, some of them fanciful and some of them based on well thought through mechanics. Fellowship DF would be such a waste and i'm a little confused as to when we would be likely to use it? Certainly not in open world content or instances. We cant use it in combat in the moors, and porting pvp raids about will be unfair on the creeps. Its too open to accidents and will hardly ever ever be of any practical use.

Please make the updates something we really need and want.

    many thanks

    Fin

WB hits the "sellbutton" if they do no more profit, not when content gets worse or doesnt get better.

If they still make money, they are happy. If the developement department doesnt get enougth love, so they can't meke they're job propper, that migth be an indicator for WB and Turbine rescaling the profit-invest-ratio.

But what do I know? Push the button WB!

My only true concern with RoR is the classes. They're spending a lot of time and money on getting down Mounted Combat which is a nice touch but hardly the core of the the game, as it currently stands they have no plans to expand mounted combat outside of Rohan, which means that mounted combat is admitted just a selling gimmick. The heart of the game is the classes, we need to start seeing some upcoming changes/tweaks/additions considering that's the core of what we play. Personally whether of not I keep playing Lotro or not has nothing to do with Mounted Combat, but if I see that they once again didn't spend nearly enough time working on classes, I'm finally calling it quits.

/Edit: I don't mean to sound all QQ, but I'm not preordering or even touching the new expansion until I know what work is in store for the classes. I
would very much like to see the devs be more active in communicating plans and designs on classes with the community to better get our involvement and feedback or at the very least just show us what might be in store.

Coudnt agree more, we'll be on level 85 and yet again all we'll get are improved versions of our skills? OK the horses will have skills and some of our core skills will be available during mounted combat but the 3 "new" skills thing has to be a joke when certainly improvements will come and it's 10 levels. I'm sure a lot of people wait for more than that and don't come with the "the bars are already full of skills" complain. This being an RPG game, i dont see anything wrong with letting us decide which skill i'll use and which one i'm not using anymore cos there's a better one that fits my profile/role/will/etc.

Also, it's time for new space for traits and new bonuses when equipping more than 5 traits of the same role. Deeds would be a nice way of acquiring new traits and yeah i do mean new legendary ones too. $70 is too expensive for what we're getting.

    My understanding...

Your normal non-mounted class (champ, mini...) will have no meaning/impact while in mouted combat.
You get a new "mounted class" that becomes active in mouted combat mode and all the skill sets reside in the mounted realm.
