You pick a class and a name and spawn in Gramsfoot. There is a short quest chain of 3 (maybe 4) quests to explain how things work. Then you pick some quests and walk out of Gramsfoot to try and complete them. You start killing mobs and find that despite being L75, your DPS is really low, plus you have no traits and only like 8 skills to start with. Furthermore, there are Freeps roaming the Ettenmoors far and wide, who won't hesitate to attack you. If you try to fight back, you'll see that you can't even bring them half health before they get you down. After some frustration, you return to Gramsfoot and see your class trainer/corrupter for improvements. You notice that all traits and all skill require you to, first, have a certain rank, for which you need Infamy, and Commendations (PVP currency). You check your quest log and see that while quests awards both Infamy and Commendations, the amount is very low: a basic quest usually awards 20-40 Commendations, with even the most basic skills costing 1000 of them, and more advanced ones easily costing 5000-7000. The situation with Infamy isn't that bad, so you start doing quests and soon reach Rank 1. Voila! You still can't afford any new skills or traits, but at least you have a rank. Then you notice that just like with leveling, the amount of Infamy for each next rank increases dramatically, with higher ranks requiring you to literally play Creep for months and the top ranks are so high, less than 20 people in game total have reached Rank 15 in 5 years since launch. You hear that killing Freeps gives more Infamy/Commendations than quests, so you decide to go and try that. But because you have no traits and limited skills, every Freep you fight can shrew you to pieces, even if he has average gear and usually even despite being lower level than you. So you try to group. There is a Creep raid out there currently, but they won't accept a non-ranked noob who won't contribute to fights in meaningful way. So you start your own group with other low-ranks like you. Then you notice that even 2 Freeps can kill 5 of you Creeps with relative ease, because of all their epic gear, dozens of skills and legendary items. And even were you in a truly large Creep raid, an equal Freep raid would kill most of it repeatedly.
At this point you have 3 options:
1) Get frustrated with PVP and log back to your Freep, ignoring your Creep for the future.
2) Spend days and days grinding quests for Infamy, Commendations and Maps, hoping to get a spot in a large raid now and then.
3) Open wallet and buy most of your skills directly from Store. You may think it'll make a difference, but it won't, because you still can't afford most of traits, battlefield promotions and potions because of your current low Rank and lack of Commendations.
That's about sums Monster Play, I think. Did I miss anything there?
you can play monster play as often or infrequently as you want, there is no right or wrong but the more you play your toon monster or freep the better you get to know how the class works

Thanks, I asked because I want to play both, ie, to level up my Freep, you know? Thanks guys!
most people will only play their monster toons when there are big fights in the ettens.. you may see adverts in your global chat channels although ive not hard of any since the EU migration
but generaly you may find you play your monster toon a lot less than your main freeps as there is a lot less content in the monster play areas.
