Re: Double Your Internet Speed for Free - pretty amazing if it works
No, it's not going to help your internet connection. If you have a network in your home and also have a gigabit switch, then sharing resources between computers in your home would be faster, but it will not have any effect on the internet.
The reason is that CAT 5 cables are rated to 100 Mbit/s, and your internet connection is not faster than that.

it's fake? haha i had no idea. i thought it was some amazing trick the guy figured out.
he even ran through the math calculations to show it's real..lol

Hahaha, if you want to know what he's calculating, it's saying that bigger wires can transmit more information.
Well, he gets that by assuming that the information passes through the entire cable, including the stuff wrapping around it (your cable is actually made up of of many small wires). Since you're not making any connections with the second wire, no information is passing through it either. Two wires will also not double the radius.

From my understanding of the subject, CAT 6 wires would allow a faster connection than CAT 5, but only if the CAT 5 was the limiting factor in the equation. The larger wire provides more throughput in the 1K networking setup. Other than that, the limiting factor for the rest of us will be the internet provider.

Yeah, the calculation itself is not wrong (looks correct to me anyway), but the assumptions/interpretation are outrageous.

Sad but probably true.
I don't know how anyone falls for that, it's kind of like saying that if you make your driveway twice as wide then you'll be able to get to work in half the time

Actually, if they made the interstate twice as wide I just might
