Lord of the Rings Online VS Guild Wars II. Opinions.

First of all I want to say how much I loved playing lotro so far besides a lot of things I would like to change. And so far I enjoyed Guild War Beta Weekends. I talked with people that love Guild Wars and people that don't really do so. Same with Lotro.

    So what do YOU think?

Well for me I dont like the graphics of GW2. IMO they are too cartoonish. I would give the game a try but refuse to spend $60 on a game that I might not like. I will be sticking with LOTRO

I know what you mean! But the no monthly fee/awesome pvp systems seduced me >.<

    I won't say cartoon-ish but more artistic.

Yeah we know that GW2 will beat LOTRO, but there is already a topic about GW2.

What this poster said, Lotro seems well established and with the new movies coming is set to remain a stable game with new content being added. Why swap and start all over in GW2?

GW2 is one step ahead of not only LOTRO, but also all the other WOW clones. It's really a "next generation" theme park MMORPG, and this time it's not just a marketing ploy.
Once you tried it, it's very hard to go back to the old theme park model.

I'm a lifetimer in LOTRO anyway, the game is 100% free for me, so I can play both without any problem

Are you talking about the content that is always bugged?

Re: Lord of the Rings Online VS Guild Wars II. Opinions.

The whole game style of Guild Wars II is quite amazing.
The graphics and the combat sytem are the first things you get to feel.Character creation customisation options are so many! Then there is no boring questing in GW II. Instead there are dynamic events that happen all over the world. In lotro and other mmos the world is dead. Only the players advanced. In GW II everything is advancing, the world itself is progressing with you or without you. It's so realistic! Then there are all the cool classes with no tanks and healers. Every players is rensposible for themselves. No need to worry about finding the right classes for a dungeon run. Every class is right! And of course it's the PvP! Structured PvP,in different maps and areas and World PvP,where servers fight between them(i know, sounds amazing.)

And all that among even more cool additions are 100% for free with no monthly fee at all. I enjoy both casual gameplay(exploring, crafting,so cializing etc) but I also like the lore and especially the PvP possibilities.

Like others said,it's gonna be an amazing game indeed. I gave my chance in lotro but with the broken PvP(for which I paid),the bugs all over the game, the RoI release was a dissapointment and now with RoR it's obvious to me why i will be moving to the world of Tyria instead

Yes I always wanted to PvP underwater! And I always wanted to besiege a citadel held by another server team! I was just afraid to ask >.<

GW2 is much to casual for my taste. And the graphicmix of WoW and Warhammer ... I dont know.

Honestly I think TERA is a much more interesting product. But of course it has no PvP.

If there is any MMO that could do the same people like Lotro for but on amuch bigger scale, it will be TESO.

I guess after the initial hype GW2 will be a niche product like the first part. Its a pay to play game. No constant maintance or updates or patches. Only expansions you will have to buy. And the microtransaction system. Puh. They are really going down the street of greediness themself. I cant believe anything they are saying about there 'fair' system. If it would be fair it would not have a mechanic to drop endless amounts of money into some advancment or achievment mechanic.

GW2 is not based on Lord of the Rings so LOTRO wins IMO. I have no interest in GW2 aside from the fact that I am anxious for them to launch so all of the trash-talkers and shills will leave get there already.

You must not buy a lot of games then, since everytime you buy a game your risking you might not like it.

If by stable you mean continously bugged with devs that half the time don't even respond to user worries. Why swap, to try a game that is leaps and bounds better then lotro from a mechanics and pvp standpoint.

Casual? Seriously? Tell me how you figure GW2 is more casual then lotro.

As far as TESO putting a ton of hype into a game we know very little about all in all.

Then your third paragraph is just wrong on so many fronts.

    A) GW1 has patches, updates and maintenance regularly. And so far ANet has a slew of things coming right after launch in a free update.

    B) Bought expansions like pretty much every other mmo including this one?

    C) And a microtransaction system that is mostly cosmetic, fun little things and pve increases that you can also get in the world setting?
