Reaver 1v1 tips
I would like some tips on how to 1v1 certain classes on a Reaver.
Classes like good champs, dps wardens, and minstrels are literally impossible for me atm. I would like tips against them.
Also, a few tips for RKs who kite and use armour of storm would be nice if available.
Any other tips against all freep classes are also welcome.http://lotrosigs.level3.turbine.com/.../signature.pngRank 11 Warg, Rank 9 Champ, Rank 7 Reaver, Rank 7 Burglar

Re: Reaver 1v1 tips
watch boost 1v1. honestly thats the best advice i can give lol. (would say lucky/slyc/beatle too, but not sure if any of them even play anymore.)
on a more detailed note; on melee class's, stack wounds so they cant pot dust, tact stack so they cant pot thrash.
GOOD champs can be very tough. its really just you need to have good movement, and hope your bleeds land. other than that you just gotta hope they dont bubble/seeking blades.
wardens are tough. gotta get their bleeds to miss so dust is very very important here. try and get behind them as much as possible so you can negate some insane block/parry. other than that not much else you can do. (i will repeat it many times, but BLEEDS are super important. if they want, they make it so that they reflect a crazy amount of damage. bleeds dont cause these reflects, only direct damage)
mini's, honestly just dont try unless you know they dont heal 1v1. if they do you dont really stand a chance. for the ones that dont heal, its based a lot on the rng. if they crit they can burst you down very fast, if they dont it can take an age. i find that stacking bleeds on mini's is more important than other class's(although really you should be stacking them in every fight), as you need to negate their HoT's.
all i can think of right now.

You're not gonna win against a minstrel unless they let you.

Re: Reaver 1v1 tips
The most important part of the fight is the very start where you go through your initial debuff rotation. The only except to this is hunters where you should really just forgo a debuff rotation; although the start of the fight is still the most critical part as most 1v1ing hunters rely on a strong opening against reavers.
Obviously this rotation will depend on the class and player you're fighting against, as well as your own personal preferences. Find something that works for you and this will easily be the most effective aspect of 1v1ing as a reaver; the rest is button mashing and movement. There's a lot which can be said, but I'll try and stick to what I feel is my area of specialty, and let other reavers comment on other match-ups. So, to give an example, my most practiced opening is that which I use against heavies; essentially champs, guards and captains. Heavies are the most heavily impacted class by miss chance debuffs so an early dust is super important as it will often allow a second use of dust (1 minute CD), especially against guardians/captains. So my opening essentially goes like this:
Charge > Lacerate > Disarm > Blood of Fire (if available, otherwise not necessary) > Thrash > Gut Punch > Dust > Sunder > Bladetoss/Wrath(/Glory if the Gut Punch crit)/Resilience > Mutilation > jump into DPS rotation and refresh debuffs when appropriate (making sure to Hamstring as Bladetoss expires).
Dust is essentially used as soon as the Disarm wears off, and the early Lacerate takes advantage of Disarm playing through animations (but not halting them, hence the BoF). Some people might argue for an earlier Sunder but in my experience the DD (direct damage) of the afore-used skills is too small to justify using this long animation before you're breaking off from melee to Bladetoss/Wrath/Resilience (hence the placement of Mutilation to take advantage of AoE range at this point).
The main variations will be throwing in an early Upper Hand if the player uses wound pots for the Disarm, leaving out Wrath to even out the fight if my opponent is having a rough time or saving Resilience (either using a wound pot for the Bladetoss or kiting out the disarm) if I have to kite CDs or counter guardian stun procs.
If I myself am having a hard time against a heavy (my opponent is skilled or uses cooldowns) I simply just space out my DPS rotation and throw in kiting/sharp-turns to let bleeds tick (note that the opening rotation will remain the same). Captains are an exception to this, as it is very much a DPS race against those who use self-heals in 1v1s (99% of them), and you basically just need to try and pummel through them with aggressive movement and hopefully some lucky crits leading to an early DS.
As a final note; don't be afraid to pre-pot. Reaver fights against the majority of classes are very short-lived. Pre-potting stuns/dazes can very easily make all the difference against LMs, RKs, minstrels and hunters if you do it right. Also, with Audacity the main impact of the majority of stuns (3s stuns and 5-8s stuns after one application of DR, which respectively become 1.5s and 1.25-2s after Audacity) is the temporary grey-barring of your rotation and the cumbersome 'shake-off' animation, as opposed to the actual stun duration itself.Last edited by MaroonDragoon; Jun 05 2012 at 03:17 AM.

Re: Reaver 1v1 tips
My 2 cents,
Its all about speeding up your dps with cancleing out the animation on most skills. Theres disarm gut punch agints the oods and res. Them 4 moves find ways to use them to youre atvantage. After that its all about beeing able to mouse turn and stay behind or keep the freep from running his rotaion on ya. Theres pre potting in there too always keep that in mind. To be fair theres like only 2 good champs on bw atm buddy and only advice i got on them is hope your moves land. Now the moves to land youll figure that out im sure
Always pack dof pots, food, and dp buffs if ya got some saved up casue its a long hard road youre gonna travel and it gets rather tedious at times Best of luck to ya!
