Considering the Pay2Win: I remember a post somewhere explaining what they meant with this and if I remember correctly, the things offered here doesn't conflict with that statement (You don't need the extra skill to be succesfull, it only makes it easier...)
About the prices: It's high, I agree (and I'm afraid I still buy it, can resist the temptation), but when you will start guessing store prices: 6th bag would be 1995 TP I guess, cosmetic horse is 1995 TP, 7th legacy will be 495-795 TP, so when you see all the extra's you get, compared to the prices you will have to pay ingame, it's worth it. The only question is, would you have bought those items seperately in the store?
Keep your opinions to yourself my friend.
It is quite rude to call someone you haven't even met a 'fool'.
Maybe it is, but he has a right to express that general opinion. Honestly, I'd say the phrase "A fool and his money are soon parted" is the new motto of the owners of LOTRO, considering the way things have changed in the short time I have been playing. If it has gotten this bad this fast, I can't imagine what a player who has been here since the beginning has suffered through.
I say go ahead and spend $70.00 for less features, content and no Turbine Points. You have that right and far be it from me to tell you not to help the rich guy pushing this trend, as he probably has a new car to pay off. I, however, am not impressed by the lack of real content in this expansion, nor am I impressed at the short sightedness of Turbine's approach to bilk us out of more cash lately.
LOTRO have lost a lot of money from me due to this and I will continue to tighten the purse strings until they either become more reasonable or the game shuts down. I am guessing the game will shut down before they become reasonable, so I won't be holding my breath. I also won't be following sheep, cattle or lemmings off of a cliff's edge, at the suggestion of Turbine's adverts. I will continue to take advantage of free Turbine points and if the expansion is as bad as I think it will be, I will also drop my VIP account. I and many others probably should do that sooner, rather than later, so Turbine gets the message, but there are probably enough sheep, cattle and lemmings around to keep them afloat till the blood sucking executives have moved on to another division...

Additional inventory bags are currently 495 TP, having been on sale for 396.
$30 is about 2500 TP.
Realize also the seventh legacy scroll says "consumed on use", so that's DISPOSABLE, if you apply it to your 75 now, you are screwed for the future. If you save it for your 85 item, you are screwed next year.
Presumably the seventh legacy is for all your characters, while a future Lotro store version of it will be one scroll, so if you have multiple level cap characters and are desperate for more legacies, the $30 might be the most cost effective way of obtaining it.
People are going to be upset if they blow tens of dollars and get minor legacies, LOL (it doesn't say a major is guaranteed).

Have been loyal customer up to now (paying 2 accounts, got all datadiscs in max version) but this is ridiculous. I am not paying 30$ for 6th bag and not going to pre-order with these insane prices. Someone just crossed the line of pure greed.
3x the landmass of Moria isn't that spectacular when you consider Moria isn't big at all. It certainly feels so, but that's because it's a dungeon - narrow maze-like passages, verticality etc. If you could ride straight through like you likely will in Rohan it would feel anything but big.
Also, no new instances/raids at launch? This is just as content thin as RoI and again priced outrageously. Seems I'll be skipping this one until a 50% sale.
I guess the pricing is tied to the inventory bag and the other goodies you get. Just like bank space you have to purchase it per character, so if you have 8 characters like me and the inventory bag costs in the range of 595 - 995 TP ... you get the idea. The inventory bag will probably cost more than bank space. If it were easy to implement they would have done so some time ago.
So the price of the Legendary edition is mostly about bundled shop items, which you would otherwise have to buy per character.
I am a lifetimer, but still find it sad that the Legendary edition does not include all the stuff from the Heroic Edition (the quest packs). For me this looks like an oversight and should be fixed for the folks who want it all.
I will probably go for the Legendary edition, because in the end it will be cheaper for me than to buy everything per character with TP.
OK now I'm curious as to how I link my purchase to my account. I'm at 'billing' and it still hasn't asked me for proper account details.
Go to myaccount.turbine.com Log in with your username and password (the same you use for the game). There will be a space at the top of the page to input a key. Do so. Then press the "submit" button below that space. The billing section may be too far in, you should log in and be at the main subscription listing page, that shows your LOTRO sub and all additions, expansions, etc.

The FAQ is also very interesting to read. Mounted combat is available for free, but only one out of 3 trait lines is available without the expansion (or can be bought separately). Epics and landscape mobs are of course still free as well.
So that means out of all the preorder bonusses, the only things I want are:
-quests and instances in Rohan
-war horse trait lines
-exclusive rohan content
-6th inventory bag
-extra legacy
Actually the quests and instances are the only things I really need, the others are nice to have.
I'm not interested in:
-everything, which only use is cosmetic (steed, titles, soldier skins, lvl 20 cloaks, cosmetic armour)
-quest packs I already have: moria, evendim and lothlorien
-an xp boost between level 65 and 75 (because I already have one to 65), and I want to complete the questing deeds in dunland anyway.
So I ignore the bonusses in the second group. That means I need to pay $40 for the quests and $70 for the quests and the bonus stuff. That's more than a whole standalone game. I think I'll pass this one. I have alts to level.

I don't see reason to buy Heroic edition for 70$.
I can buy Base edition for 40$ and got that Horse. The only thing that I will miss then is that 6th bag.. for 30$. :-) I've already got a lot of cosmetic outfits. Pre-order bonuses are junk - Soldier cosmetics and some cloak.
So for me it's Base edition or Heroic edition for 35$ in discount later (it was just about three months after RoI release last year!).
In meantime I will be playing Torchlight 1 & 2 for 20$ on Steam.. :-)

Elves - Dusriel (RK75), Dusreth (HNT85), Dusaran (WRD65), Dusador (GRD24+)
Creep - Dusgok (Reaver3+)
Laurelin server - Anaruth Order (I'm Linux player)
I have been here since SoA pre-access, have bought all expansions etc, but this time I am not going to bother buying RoR expansion, not before we get more info.
As for now, it's like $40 for expansion + $30 for extra bag. Yes, you get that crystal too but unless proven otherwise, that is one-time only and vanishes immediately when you deconstruct your LI. I would be happy to get another bag slot but not for that price. I could affort that yes, but it's the principle.
I remember too well that lanscape soldier advertising, where everyone assumed you could summon your soldier like you summon in skirmishes (no-one even thought about it would cost marks and medallions) and devs didn't want to tell us that it would actually cost us quite a lot. So, it turned out to be too much (for a soloer) to be actually useful.
And since we already have dev responce saying that there will not to be "solo version" of instances, that means RoR will be like solo from 75 to 85, and then ONLY group instances or same old solo skirmishes when at level cap. Like things are now.
At this point it would seem like even if I would skip that extra bag and Crystal, I would still pay $40 for landscape quests for levels 75-85. Without paying, I can still do the epics, have access to mounted combat etc...
So, I am not going to preorder anything just yet. I'll wait through this summer to see if they will offer ANYTHING new endgame activity to us soloers, not just some lanscape one-time quests. If not, I'll prpbably pass this expansion (I never thought I would say that) and do just the epics (after all, Epic questline is what I enjoy the most).
Has anything been said about how many 3-man/6-man/raid instances are going be released with RoR? I didn't see any mention about RoR substance on the pre-order page, definately didn't find it under the RoR section in Lotro forums, and a quick google search didn't bring anything useful up. Appears we have a green light that the expansion will fail in epic proportions.
Then again...the best expansion will be the one with the least changes. We all know the new Lotro trend of more changes = more breakage.
Is anyone able to explain why British players are getting hit for a 10% premium on the price to be paid here? £52 for an expansion is ludicrous when £7 of that comes from how you've done the exchange rate. It's even worse for the basic pre-order, where £5 of the £30 being charged is down to that!

If you honestly aren't willing to spend a miniscule amount of cash on an expansion the go whine somewhere else, $70 is literally nothing compared with other game companies pre-order versions.
I think that you are a bit off trail with this post.
70$ is a lot of money for a game, and a lot more if you take into account that is an expansion.
A quick comparison:
Two recent purchases that i made:
Diablo 3: 27.45 Pounds
The Secret World: 32.40 Pounds
Grand total of two full games in physical box (i like the physical editions, and are an added value and more expensive): 59.85 Pounds
The top-of-the notch edition of Riders of Roham (that i must purchase if i want things like a "exclusive" mount skills) 51.99 Pounds
And my problem is ¿one online expansion that is almost 9/10 of the prices of two full new games?, or another point of view ¿one expansion that is in the more basic form as expensive as the most recent released game? that for me is a nonsense.
I purchased Moria for 20€, and Mirkwood for another 20€ (and that wasnt a nice deal for me). Then i need to left the game till i returned when Isengard was 50% off and i could purchase it with points (i'm a lifer), ¿and now the most recent expansion they ask me almost the double price that the previous ones?, sorry but no way.
I suppose that i could return to the game when i see RoR at 50% in points, and that if the pay to win didnt put me outside the game (i hate the star-lit and i could see that the new legacy for a bunch of € is even worse, and when you remember that they put out the game the 7th legacy not so long ago you could see the trend as with the removal scrolls).
Time to put the game again in freezer for a year or so.

Dont worry, rest of EU players are even worse than Uk ones.
51.99 GBP are 64.16 Euros at current exchnage, and we need to pay 64.99.
Turbine aka WB's this is plain and simple a cash cow expansion, rip off the vets of the game for $70 - £45 as you know the only real option is the legendary edition, not buying this rip off

If the last 2 expansions are anything to go by then we shouldn't be paying more that $30 for this. I won't be buying
If they would add 4000+ TP (maybe 2k for me and 2x1.000TP for gifts) to the Legendary Tier, i would buy it. Now there's just no way i'm gonna give 70$ for that.
No, this just isn't worth it. I was planning on buying the Legendary pack, but I'm going for Base if I buy any :/ I'm disappointed... I expected much more after the RoI packs.
So far, seems like a complete disappointment.
Worse points for me:
- To expensive (way to expensive)
- No TPs on any bundle (and no, a discount to buy them does not qualify)
- Legendary does not have the Heroic bonus (besides the Legendary ones)
I was looking forward to buy this, but now...
Unless some wonderful information is released that changes my mind, I will probably only get this when it's on a 50% discount like RoI is so many times now.
Its funny how Turbine manages to make 3 pre-order versions that are vastly better tailored to their focus groups compared to the RoI preorder... and still manages to blow it by going 25% up in price over what people expect to pay for a five year old game with such a quality track record as of late.
Its not even that I generally say the price is not worth it - its just out of bounds of what even your reasonably well-endowed adult gamer expects to pay for a digital download expansion.

Alright, Let's give my opinion. $70 dollars? WTH? Assassin's creed 3 is coming out, on of the bigger games..... And is like 50-60$. Asking money, that's ok, but for real>

The price listed in Dollars does not have any local taxes the Americans must pay on top of it. However if you live outside the US you may be able to just buy it in Dollars and get it cheaper. If you do this dont forget the charge on a debit/credit card for the exchange can be quite high
I guess the big loser here is RoI. I can't see us getting any more lvl 75 content with lvl 85 on the horizon. RoI will be remembered for the ridiculously easy Draigoch and the stinking hard ToO (T2 at least). I expect the next 3 months will bring items that make us stronger plus a couple of ToO nerfs so by the end of August most of T2 will be puggable.
As for the pre-order packs - if they made the token +50% or +100% XP (as it was during the anniversary week) then they'd have a deal. I'd like to level up a couple more characters but the 25% bonus really doesn't bring enough to the table, especially at higher levels.
I don't need the bag, the crystal is nice but they will definitely be available in-game or for TP with RoR, and I'm not a big cosmetic fan - especially when there will be hundreds of people with the exact same set running around. I'll probably go for the base edition.
Lets all hope and pray we get at least 2x 3 mans, 2x 6 mans and a multi-boss raid. The next 3 months are looking boring enough as it is. Give us something cool to look forward to.
Lose = To suffer defeat or fail to win.
Loose = Not tight or released from a fastening or attachment.
I did not see how to order RoR if I have an existing account, i.e., this one. I went to the pre-order site, walked through to the checkout page, it insist on creating a new account.
Sorry to say i've just cancelled my subscription. I was considering it anyway but with this (IMO) crazy pricing I can see that the company revolves around milking it's customers. I have enough TP saved from my subscriptions to purchase RoR when it comes to the LOTRO store but for now i'll just stick to plain old F2P.
I can't actually see anything worth getting from RoR, I quite dislike the whole forced mounted combat, more LI stuff (as if it weren't complicated enough) and some cloaks. An extra bag for those willing to fork out what, to me, is a lot of money. Well my vault is big enough.
Just feeling a little ripped off, what is the point in having VIP at all? perhaps a discount for those who already pay and have done for 6months previous?
Anyway, many of you are cross, many are happy, we all have our own opinions
Love this game, love the community, the raids, the instances, the design/landscapes, and *sometimes* the pvp.
I'm not pre-ordering this as it stands right now. I need this expansion to be sold to me a bit more. Seriously, mounted combat looks interesting but it's not enough. Where is the pvp update? Instances? Raids? We've been told absolutely nothing, yet they expect me to part with $70, which is in my opinion an absolute gamble right now. I really am going to need a lot more information about what is in this expansion (and I don't mean pre-order bonuses) before I spend my money.
I love this game and I want to see it continue on for many more years, but this just isn't enough. And don't forget, this is an expansion, why would I pay the price of a brand new game for it? Sigh. I feel sad
