It is impossible to find a group for any level 75 instances - everyone wants to do T2 and they won't take a tank with less than 15k morale. I have come to the realization that by the time I have grinded the gear to actually tank, rohan will be out. This isn't a new problem either - It has been impossible to find an on level group since I hit moria, all you can find are 75's doing instances for deeds and medallions of moria. Healers and DPS, it dosn't matter, you don't need to worry about gear to find a group. But for a guardian you pretty much have to pray that someone let's you come along just to be nice. You only need one tank per group, and there are a ton of 4 or 5 year players with raid gear that you are competing with. I rolled a guard, I just want to tank, but that's not going to happen I guess.
A warning for new players - don't make your first character a guard unless you want to spend a long, long time gathering gear just to actually play your role in instances that other classes can get into the moment they hit 75. And it's not even because you need the gear - I would love to try with what I got - but everyone right now just wants to get the instances done as fast and safely as possible, and that means taking an experienced, raid geared tank every time.
Not sure if you've already done this, but try to find an active kin that runs the content. Your odds are better with kinnies than pugs, as kinnies tend to be more forgiving and willing to let a less experienced person come along.
I totally agree that it can be frustrating because like you said people can be nit-picky of a guard's gear. One good way to get gear is to get rep with Men of Dunland, Theodred's Riders, Heroes of Limlight Gorge, and Riders of Stangard. This will give you some great options for jewelry that will help your stats and get nit-picky group members off your back.
I also agree with gene6482 though, finding a good kin that will let you come along is your best bet. Also, try to find a group that will let you be an off-tank. My first run in an orthanc wing I was the off-tank and even though I only had 11K morale, it worked out just fine.
Aye, I have come to realize this.. I guess I'm just frustrated because I hit 75 and now I have 4 rep grinds and countless skirmishes before I will be allowed to tank. And I did join a raiding kin in hopes of finding 'more forgiving players' but even then I was asked to just run in OP and dps. I didn't roll a guard to do half the damage of a champ in raids and leech enough medallions to gear up to tank. Not being useful in raids isn't fun. I'm frustrated because I haven't gotten a chance to tank on level content in 30 levels. I guess I'll just do what i have to do, gear up or whatever. Or maybe I should just wait for Rohan and go from there, because by the time I am allowed to tank it will be out.
You should have Dunland kindred just by completing quests in Dunland. You should be most of the way to kindred with Theodred just by questing in Gap of Rohan / Nan Curunir, and can complete that with just a few tasks or repeatables, either the ones in the Isengard ring or the one in the middle of Galtrev. You can get kindred with Stangard by just questing in the Great River (don't worry about "wasting" xp). Limlight is the only one requiring grinding but I didn't find it too bad.
You shouldn't have to grind skirmishes to get medallions. That is a long and bad way to do it. This goes back to finding groups that will let you participate in Foundry runs.
A spaceship from another star / They ask me where all the people are
I tell them I'm the only one / There was a war, but I must have won

That's fair, and It might not take too long. Annoying that I have to do them at all just to do instances, but alright. More repetitive questing! yay.

Yeah, that's just not happening. I've hit a brick wall there.
from what you have said I think you should join a better kin, I know in my kin we would let a newly lvl 75 guard run foundry as main tank no problem, Realistically you have no hope of learning the role without experience.
And as others have said go for thoedreds and limlight rep for the awesome jewellery as they really help and will stack a lot of morale on to your morale pool
Maybe try the Instance Finder and try to run foundry as much as you can for medals/experience
My first class I tried in lotro was a guardian. I hit 75 a couple months ago, so I am still a "new" tank. My guardian was my first level capped class, and end-game-playing was new to me. I was lost; what gear to get, how to join instances, etc. Luckily, I was in a great kin. They let me join instances like draigoch and foundry, even though I had only 10k morale ( high morale does not equal good tank btw). After a few kin runs, I was able to grab a few pieces of draigoch set, and get a 2nd age weapon/belt.
Also, read the forums! They helped me find out good gear and great ways to be a tank.
You can also try starting up your own T1 runs. As a tank, I found it easier to start up runs then join them.
PS. Since a guardian was my first class, I found playing all the other classes more enjoyable! I was so use to the slow dps of a guard, that playing an RK, hunter and champ seemed fast! I love my guardian.
