    Firefoot Hunters; Come On Down!

    Greetings Firefoot!
I'm starting this forum thread in relation to the hunter class. I would love if the major hunter raiders would come in here and just toss around a couple tips and perhaps we can all learn something from each other.

Just to get things started, i usually raid in tower on weekends, T2 Saturdays and T1 Sundays.

My class traits for my DPS build are; Swift and True, Fast Draw, Critical Eye, True Shot, Deadly Precision, Deep Concentration, and Strong Draw. I use these for Major DPS and power control with Deep Concentration. Any feedback on things to change?

And this Resolute Aim trait, is it even worth the time to trait?

    Fellow Firefoot'er.

It all depends on your tank and whether he can take aggro from any dps'er. If he can, then stay with your major dps traits. The selection you have given is for single-target dps, which is fine since that is our main purpose, and this set will be one of the greatest for the ToO bosses. But if you want AoE dps (For the adds that come out in some boss fights), switch out True Shot for the Red 'Rain of Arrows' trait, and (if you have an LM) switch out Deep Concentration for the Blue 'Rain of Arrows' trait.

Also, if you don't trait it already, Bow of the Righteousness is fairly awesome for power saving, and reduces all skill power costs by an average of 15%.

Don't bother with Resolute Aim; that is a moors only trait, unless you are an official Hun'tank.

    Greetings again fellow hunters!

Recently I have made the step out into the Ettenmoors! Currently I am rank 3 1/2. Anyone suggest any good traits that i could use and survive more out there with?

There really isn't any survival out in the Moors for a hunter. It's best to try and kill something before it can kill you. Hunters have excellent burst dps w/ improved focus. I suggest using that excellent 5s buff to your advantage. I generally camo and wait for something to come along, burnhot, needful haste, a quick tap of improved focus to top back off my focus and insure I have the buff it gives when I initiate combat, and then swift bow, pen pen pen pen pen pen pen pen pen using focus pot and intent concentration in the mix as needed to replenish focus. In my opinion, Burst dps > Sustained dps in the moors since most fights generally don't last too long. For that reason, I trait 5r for the cool burn legendary. Another plus of going red line/strength strance as opposed to blue line/precision is the slow you get from quick shot. Here's how I roll out there.

    Class Traits:
    -Fast Draw
    -Swift and True
    -Critical Eye
    -Barbed Fury
    -True Shot
    -Resolute Aim (absolute must)
    -Heightened Senses.

    Legendaries:
    -Rain of Thorns
    -Cool Burn
    -Bard's Arrow

    Virtues:
    -Determination
    -Tolerance
    -Zeal
    -Valour
    -Justice

    Melee LI:
    -Needful Haste duration
    -Max AoE targets
    -Agile Rejoinder Heal Chance
    -Find the Path Movement Speed
    -Agility
-Critical Magnitude in Precision (This is kinda useless for me in the Moors since I run S:S but I couldn't be bothered to get a separate melee LI for pvp)
*I also did not spend many points ranking up the dps of the melee since I mostly fight from range. I maybe increased it 3x, and that was after everything else was maxed out.

    Ranged LI:
    - Induction Bow Crit Multiplier
    - Focus Bow Crit Multiplier
    - Barbed Arrow Bleed Damage
    - Burn Hot Damage
    - Quick Shot Crit Chance
    - Agility

Try out S:S out in the Moors w/ this build. If you don't dig it, maybe someone can share a S:P build for ya.

Also, here is a link to a spreadsheet w/ the stats of the hunter pvp sets and various combinations. Of the various options, I prefer mix 2. Also, another helpful link to see how you measure up against others of your class is Lotro Stat Check

    Thank you very much for that advice! I'll check out the trait sets and hopefully do some more damage, i'll also look into the legacies on my bow. I have a first age bow level 75 with all 3 star lit crystals on it. The legacies on it are;
    -Induction bow power cost
    -Focus bow power cost
    -Induction bow crit mult
    -focus bow crit mult
    -focus bow threat down
    -induction bow threat down
    -heart seeker damage

"threat down" and "power cost" legacies are useless in moors

    Professional Advice

    Hey guys!

Back again, and with professional advice...and cookies. So on my quest to find different ways to play the hunter class, i found myself arguing with XBammyx. I know I know, i looked ignorant, but i had a private chat with Bammy and learned some great tips and helpful trait sets to really pack a punch in these orthanc runs.

Trait line; 'well my idea for hunter playing is Dps, dps, and more dps.' -Xbammie.
I found this statement to be obviously true, but also wise. So here's a list of the traits that bammy reccomends.

    -Resolute Aim
    -Strong Draw
    -Deadly Precision
    -Rapid Recovery
    -Deep Concentration
    -Fast Draw
    -Critical Eye

    Legendary Traits

    -Press Onward
    -Bow of Righteous
    -Improved Fleetness

I was a bit skeptical about the line bammy uses, but clearly rev's is at her back. So who's the moron now?...Me.
Well i hope this post was helpful. Hunt well guys!

Fleetness legendary is pretty great out in the Moors if you know how to play with it. I use to duo (RK healer) with a hunter who had fleetness legendary and used the ToO PvE set. He could kill pretty much anything even if it tried running away unless it had outside help (multiple healers or bubble).

Some hunters carry their ToO set while out in the MOors and swap it in instead of audacity depending how things are. Being able to fire off 9+ penshots while moving at 120% runspeed isn't too shabby. With a RK I can easily raise a hunter to 29% crit chance and 10% dev chance. Creeps really hate a hunter who has support.

PvP and PvE for me are both the same really, super DPS. In Moors I prefer the Red trait line with Swift and True, Resolute Aim, Strong Draw, Swift Mercy, Barbed Fury, and Fast Draw (Sometimes I switch out Barbed for True Shot, depends on the action out).

As for PvE I prefer Blue line with Resolute Aim, Swift Recovery, Deadly Precision, Rapid Recovery, Strong Draw, Fast Draw, and Critical Eye, depending on the T2 Wing we are doing I'll swap out Rapid Recovery for Arrow-storm (T2 Shadow). I usually parse around 3.5k+ (Highest DPS I've had so far was roughly 4.6k in Acid [with double burn hot] in Acid/Shadow/Lightning t2, Frost/Flame I sustain ~2.8 due to Grims.

But as Halirandir said, my idea for huntering is EXTREME dps. (I wouldn't recommend copying my build due to the fact that I pull alot of aggro and my tank does not like it, and that it lowers your morale to about 5.7-6k.)

    Future Posts

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone that has posted here! All the play-styles i've seen are very sweet.

In the near future i'm hoping to get a pure moors build going. With that if anyone on firefoot is willing to give up their secrets for the sake of helping, i'd love an in-game mail or a tell.

So hopefully for everyone who reads the forum we can start discussing PVMP issues, with kills or specific problems.

Another note, RoR is nearly here! I will also be attempting to cover mounted combat, as well as awesome builds at level 85.

But for now i'll be interviewing other hunters for our 75 builds

I'm strictly against the yellow build but i'll try to get one in here for others.

Thanks guys and happy hunting !
