Is it just me or? (Latency spikes effecting gambits?)
So almost a month ago I decided to come back to LOTRO after taking something of a break from MMO's in general. When I came back, I researched all of the changes to each class and read up on the overall quality of life for each class/role. As my Warden was the last class I put much effort into, I decided to just stick with that.
Shortly after choosing to return to the warden however, I began to notice latency spikes here and there. The spikes were subtle at first, only happening once in a blue moon. After a while however I noticed they were beginning to throw my gambit rotation off a good deal. I also began to notice that, whenever these "spikes" would take place, my latency widget in the Alert area would show a .1-2% value under the loss field.
The ping generally stays bellow 120ms with the occasional 1,000+ spike hitting every so often.
The reason I decided to finally write this is simple: It's seriously affecting my warden's "quality of life" heh. If this is a problem that EVERYONE is having, and it doesnt look as if it's going to be resolved anytime soon, I might be forced to play something else until the situation is resolved.
I've done everything I can think of to address the issue on my end of things...all to no avail.
If anyone else is having similar complications I'd greatly appreciate knowing so.
Re: Is it just me or? (Latency spikes effecting gambits?)
Not having too much trouble with spikes myself,
but indeed, during a spike the builders aren't getting registered
so if you are too fast with pressing the next one, you will miss
out on a builder and therefore get the wrong Gambit.
Re: Is it just me or? (Latency spikes effecting gambits?)
I've noticed the occasional lagspike messing up my gambit rotations as well, but (in my case) it rarely happens and usually tends to sort itself out fairly quickly.
Re: Is it just me or? (Latency spikes effecting gambits?)
Well it's frustrating to say the least. I mean lately my latency isn't even rising above 80-90ms....but I keep getting lost packets or whatever that "loss" field represents in the latency alert widget.
Re: Is it just me or? (Latency spikes effecting gambits?)
Yeah man, it'll get ya. Everyone I know on brandywine's feeling the occasional lag spikes, and it hurts on my warden. However, sometimes if the lag is long enough, I can catch myself just stop my fingers from continuing on with my rotation and just start mashing the next mastery or w/e.
But I'm not a mouse-clicker so I expect its much easier for me to reverse myself mid lag spike.
Re: Is it just me or? (Latency spikes effecting gambits?)
I have trained myself to only move to the next when the last gets the green outline indicating its starting. Don't anticipate the pace of the skills and you won't be effected as much by the spikes. I found this was even more important when doing t3 skirms and getting hit by the filth crawlers or anything that slows attack speed. Lag happens its better to be able to pace the gambits according to the lag.
WARNING: leveling a warden may cause you to neglect your other characters.
