Thread: Purchase Access While VIP

So this week there is a sale going on for Monster classes in which I would like to buy. The problem is right now I am VIP and the Store will not allow me to purchase the other classes. The sale goes till the 7th and my subscription runs out after the sale is over. Anyone else have the same issues? I put in a ticket and they said they couldn't do anything, but said to post a thread in the forums so here it is...

/signed... will you please allow VIP to buy anything in the store at anytime they want EVEN if it is already included in VIP... there are a lot of VIP that want to spend RL $$$ and TP... let us do it! Really, you may have some kinda weird reason for not doing it but the fact is that in the long run if you let people spend you WILL generate more RL $$$...

Also, please dont cry this a tech issue... geeze ur a business... make it happen... you can already block from view items that are included for an account, well take that flag and turn it into a warning so people know what they are buying is already included and then let them decide...

This is something that people have been asking for since pretty much the day we went free to play. Sadly, there is no way to buy the stuff you get while you are VIP until your VIP subscription runs out, so you are out of luck. And there isn't any sign that Turbine is planning on changing that any time soon.

Yes I just asked this same thing in another thread, and sent a ticket to Turbine with the response
"We apologize, but at this time we do not have any options to work around this restriction. If you would like the ability to purchase access that you already have while VIP, please submit feedback in our LOTRO Store Forum."

SO, here I am voicing again how absurd this is. I have already requested a refund for my remaining VIP subsciption, as well as my recent purchase of RoI Legendary. I was about to pre-purchase RoR the day I found out about this BS, that sure isn't going to happen now. Now I know I should have just never paid them for VIP. I do not want to pay for game time in advance any more, because they punish me for it. They want me to be F2P until I can play enough characters to unlock enough TP for free that I can purchase things I want during their sales. That way everyone else who is paying for VIP will either be stuck with their VIP, or have to pay more money to Turbine to pay for the Quest Packs now that they can. In DDO I can click a check-box in the store that says "Show ALL Items" which shows things that I cannot use. Yet they say there "is no work around" for this. Here is a workaround, LET ME BUY THEM ANY WAY but hide them by default. Have a checkbox that when checked pops up a warning "Warning: you can now see things your account may have already purchased.", or SOMETHING other than "sorry nothing we can do since you already paid us, but you can go to our forums where you have already been and seen lots of other people talking about this too and voice your opinion there if it will make you feel like we care". Which they obviously don't care, they already have my money. Unfortunately for me, even if my one account is small, I will not play any Turbine game and condone this in any way. To continue playing would be submitting to them that I am not upset enough about this to stop supporting and playing their game. Turbine just lost at least one customer for life, I won't be buying LotRO or DDO Turbine Points, Expansions, or any other Turbine related game or item as long as they treat their paying customers this way.

AND, there are other things I also like about being VIP that I may want to keep even when I have the quest packs such as Rest XP, the extra shared wardrobe space, the 2 extra character slots.... but on occasion I may not be able to afford it for a month or two. When I can't afford it I don't want to lose access to all that content. Though again, my attitude has certainly changed from "I want to help support this game while I can" to one of "ok I will never pay Turbine again". In a few months I may decide to start up a new account and stay completely F2P and NEVER purchase TP or VIP Time and just be limited and earn a few things from in-game TP. But I will not keep my VIP account if they are going to be this way. I want to be treated better as a paying customer so I am going to stop supporting them. I will play one of the MANY other F2P MMOs and buy their points and content.
