Thread: How to get a LI with ONLY the legacies you need/want...

I'm checking to see if there's more than one way to go about doing this. I'm looking to make a set of lvl 75 second age LIs for my mini for use in the moors (for a DPS build), but would prefer them have ONLY the legacies I'm looking for. (I realize I most likely won't have enough points to level al the legacies to cap, but hey, every little bit helps).

Because lvl 75 second (and first) age items are harder to come by, meaning the materials needed to craft them are hard to get a hold of, it doesn't seem too practical to just slowly keep making them until you finally ID one with legacies that are good right from the start. And even then, you have no way of knowing which legacies you'll be adding to it at the appropriate reforge levels.

So my idea is this:

ID all minstrel LIs, regardless of level and age. If it has a legacy I'm ultimately looking for on the 75 end product, level it to 30 (or is it 31?) and decon it to strip off the desired legacy.

I would then have to repeat this process however many times until I had a bag full of desired legacies. (Looking specifically for 3 on the songbook, and I think 4 on the weapon).

Then I would only need to craft one set of lvl 75 second age LIs, and could replace whatever legacies with which they come with the stripped legacies I've saved up. (I guess..what...3 right off the bat? And then for the rest I'd have to wait until I add more legacies to it at the appropriate reforge levels).

Chances are, one or two of the legacies on the lvl 75 end product will be ones I was looking for all along, in which case I would only replace the legacies I don't want with those that I've saved up.


So....thoughts? It'll be a PITA but I'm not sure there's a better way to go about doing this. Those of you who have LIs with the perfect legacies...did you do a grind or just get lucky?

it's all about the grind. Getting LI up to decon at 31 to rip off legs is easy. Getting enough empowerment scrolls to raise all your legs up to T6 is the hard part.

Short of luck there is no easy way to get the exact legacies that u want on an li. You might want to consider looking on the ah as occasionally u may find an li that will suit you for what you are looking for, also if u have the gold available you may be able to buy the worn symbol of cele to try to make another.
The one suggestion that i would make to you is to level the target li to 30 and get all the reforges that add legacies to it out of the way as u may be able to add one of the legacies that you want to it and at a higher level than using replacement scrolls.
The other thing that you did not mention is how many majors would you want for these li's if 3 then you will be in for less work. If you would like 4 or more majors for one or both then you are going to have much more work ahead of you at least as a mini and for moors use i do not think you will be to worried about the extra stats that second agers have.

Don't forget when Deconning for Legacy Scrolls you need the right level LI's

If you want LI Scrolls for a Level 75 LI, then you need to decon LI's above lvl 65

There is the other option to get the perfect LI

Great advice all around, I hadn't thought of any of this ^^^. Thanks for saving me a lot of time and trouble guys! And @ Mark I have my healing LIs pretty much set, so rather than rebuilding I think I'm just going to acquire two new LI's that I'll equip or store in my bags depending on if I'm healing/DPS.

Or if short of gold, and you don't mind running alot of skirmishes for marks/medallions, you can also acquire the worn symbols and cracked Rhi sigils from skirmish camp vendors.

2nd age LIs are not really hard to come by. Symbols are down to 25g now in the AH on my tiny server, and i cant imagine it being different elsewhere (not saying it is cheap, but its certainly within bounds). The only thing holding you back here are recipe cooldowns, so you might have to look for several crafters if your current LI doesnt turn out as desired.

One more thing though, LIs of equip lvl66 and and above should be levelled all the way to XP level 60. It only needs twice the iXP over levelling to 31, but will give you 5 times the return in relics. So much in fact that you can easily get the shards and relics from them to meld Westfold relics without any added work. And likewise, Great River relics with not that much of extra investment.

The problem is getting enough major slots if you want more than three majors. Hopefully you got enough major slots via reforges. If not, you have to decide whether to make another one. Level it up to see how many majors the legendary item ends up with. Once you are satisfied with your level 30 after the reforge. You replace all the legacies that you don't want.

This is actually going better than expected. I started this process at 70 and basically I only equip a set of dummy LIs (with legacies I want for later) when I turn in quests. I'm 73 now, and already have four legacies just from leveling dummies to 31 and deconstructing. Also, after I decon'd the first set, the heritage runes I've been getting at 31 take the next LI I want to level to ~lvl 25 right off the bat...only a handful of quests takes it to 31 and the process repeats!

glad i found this thread because I was just about to post the exact the same thing. The things I wish I knew before I completely ruined (and I have) my legendaries. Had no clue you could deconstruct legendaries at 30 and remove a legacy, I always thought and have been told that you can only remove legacies from items at max level reforge/deconstruct.

I see all these players running around with 2nd age/1st age legendaries with 4 major tier 6 legacies all maxed to level 9 with numerous points spent in the minor legacies and just have no idea they went about doing this or even had enough points to spend like they did.
