This thread makes me lol. It turned into a "This is why my class isn't that good in 1v1's compared to X class."
In the end, you can play like a man, or you can Brusef kite and self-heal to win. I see Aerdred complaining about how tough it is to compete with BA kiting in 1v1's. Over here in the real world, BA's will fight you toe to toe and still kill you. On Windfola, a BA fighting toe to toe means Shap is feeding you.

I like 1v1s, duoing, and walking on the beach with a warg pack; also raiding with friends.

Ummm, thanks?
Like I've said a million times, I'm a below-average BA. I still can't see how even a BA with superb movement and a well thought-out trait setup (both of which I'm hardly great at) can beat the following classes, presuming freeps who are at least adequate when solo'ing on their class (with or without self-nerfing, depending on context):
Minstrel.
Loremaster.
Runekeeper.
Champion.
Guardian.
Warden.
With cappies, thieves and hunters, it's a bit of a lottery, but of the other classes, only champs and guards can really be kited, and then they have Sprint timers to counter that tactic. Wardens and tacticals are just stupid.
So as I was saying...
I've tried to talking to a fair few people on multiple servers and on the forums - from those who've been playing this game a long while and know most classes at least theoretically to those that actually have high ranked BA's. For the 6 classes I mentioned, I haven't gotten further than "you can beat them if they're bad, but good ones will destroy you, and few will actually need any of their cooldowns or gear swapping, etc."Palaverus Querulus (R11), Jakyll Andhide (R6), Yellowsub Marine (R1)

You call it self-nerfing, which I guess it is if you are one of those people with the mindset of "My class was given double HiPS, why wouldn't I use it in a 1v1?" or "Why not use the skills my class was given, like using all my self heals in warspeech all the time?"
It's the same thing as people having some sort of unwritten code about not using cooldowns in 1v1s. You can beat pretty much anyone if you care more about points than even fights. Just don't play like a Liliam and you'll find that 1v1s are more balanced than you thought. If all you care about is points and having a cancerous aids-fist of rating, then disregard this message and continue to zerg every freep/creep you see and camp the rez.

Way to misread. Unless your post was a generalization, in which case I say to myself: Way to misread.
1. I was talking about the freeps self-nerfing when fighting against me, because I think we can all agree most freep classes have skills that can be categorized "Iwin". I've made it a point to not use my cooldowns unless I absolutely have to, and more often than not, I'm asked why I didn't blow uruk-heal or MT in a certain fight.
2. I do think 1v1's are a bit lopsided from my PoV, but only when playing against good freeps (or, of course, those that blow everything they have and also have some basic skill at their class). And it is precisely to improve my record against those players that I want tips. In the absence of any useful advice so far, I've resorted to repeatedly fighting people I consider the best at their classes on Windy, simply as practice. This, I think, is part of what you called my "feeding" them. I win few, I lose most, but for the most part, I have fun and improve a teensy-weensy bit every time.

The feeding comment was a joke, don't be so serious. All I'm saying is that self-nerfing is not what it is when a class doesn't pop cooldowns or use ridiculous tactics in a 1v1. Self-nerfing would be me using armor without audacity or something of the like. If me not popping an "Iwin" button like last stand in a 1v1 is self-nerfing, then I really have nothing else to say to you other than "lol."

I know.
Fair enough.
Still, I count as self-nerfing anything that means you're not going all out on your toon. For creeps, that obviously means not popping every cooldown/ridiculous skill they may have, while for a freep, it means not playing the class to the utmost in the interest of fairness - whether that includes specifics of gear and/or skill usage.
I'm not actually trying to say that popping (for instance) LS in a 1v1 is fine, just that not doing it is in some way nerfing your class (by not fulfilling its potential completely).
