    Kicking it Old School

This is a thread for posting our fondest memories. No need to flame with bad memories, every other thread on our lovely forums are for that :P

    Ill go first.

Oddly enough, was with Adino. We were 24 men strong, with a group of stragglers running behind as the fat kids. I was a fat kid. Aza and Soviets each had a craid out. We were on our way to get our rez back, and took the long way around crossing near HH, between DG and Lug rez. I think Adino had num lock on auto run....and he led us ALL to the one shotters. Instant death, all of us. Man we rolled laughing for a half hour, cause Aza and soviets wiped us without even fighting us.

Another was WAY back in the day...we had a EPIC fight INSIDE the cave at Good Isen. Yes, trolls were active, and it was a fricking chaotic melee scrum. I was attacking anything that moved, I think I even attacked myself.

    Re: Kicking it Old School

Greetings, maggots! Cool thread idea, Tbow. I have had many great moments on my reaver before RoI. The one that sticks out the most would definitely be worthy of song. I was headed to GV to clear out the npc's near the goodie box in preparation of setting the net for freeps. I liked to kill the npc's to deny raid babies any sort of npc assistance. I was just about to pass the tall rock just down the hill from the goodie box when I got double tracked. I hit my op elf tracker and up popped 2 fail hunters. They were both standing on the tall rock with a false sense of security. I charged em and dusted em and kept running around the rock breaking their los. I took em both out and a raid baby lm started to attack me as the 2nd hunter drew his last breath. I then proceeded to chop the lm down to a nub. He died with great honor. At this point my health was only at half. Then the gods of war smiled on me. A well-known fail hunter then started to pew me and I then produced another hunter corpse for the furnaces of Angmar! After the hated hunter expired I succumbed to the powers of a 6man zerg lmao. I got about 500 inf in just over a minute! Good times! Carry on, maggots!

    Re: Kicking it Old School

One of my favorite fights I can remember was a fight in DG, Adino had a full raid and we were caught trying to nab the relics. Majority of a creep raid was there to stop us. It was a tight cornered fight that lasted a good 45m. Both sides getting lots of kills, but we eventually had to bail. I just remember trying to LoS behind anything i could until i could run out into the creeps and try to blow something up and hope the raid could keep me alive or rez me if i died :P

Another great memory was actually with Intolerance. Me and my pocket mini found Durtz, Loogy, and Anty-1 behind TR. I managed to kill both the BAs just as they finished off my mini, which i rezzed with do not fall. Durtz rezzed his BAs. and we started going at it again. Another WL showed up and we were fighting impossibly hard to stay alive. I somehow took out Loogy i think, then a cappy showed up and we fought for another 15m. i think we got like 8-10 kills and they killed me twice and the mini twice b4 we finally knocked them down for good. Long, hard, fun fight.

i'll always remember my first day in the moors. i picked up quests and went right to an op killing the kiljarn npcs around it picking up quest items. lbf was the first one i encountered and i began fighting him. i felt good bout getting him down to like1-2k before dyin but in my noobness i had to blow every cd i had to do it an he prolly didn't break a sweat. went right back and this time daneath destroyed me as all my cds were up. two of my kinnies (shazz n sozu) then helped me hunt daneath down an started showing me the ropes out there. had great fun pveing, in an adino raid, and getting owned in 1v1s. stayed out all day and night and by the time i left i was in grp with frae (loved the wonderful entertainment he provided) being farmed by whatever creeps were left but was still having a blast. was hooked right off the bat

My best memory is probably when I led my first raid on my Blackarrow. He was only rank 3 too . It was a good fight, and we ended up forcing the freeps out of TA and eventually ended up taking it. Infamy and Renown were flowing that day . I haven't led a raid since then, but it is, by far my best memory on Ridder.

My next favorite is probably when I 1v1'd my kinnies as a warg a few weeks ago. Nothing like pvping with my Kindred Souls kinnies.

Bonnie & Clyde making friends with Akara (first and favorite warg pet!) and Eolar through nothing more than the power of showing respect, courtesy and a few choice emotes. As well as making more creepie friends through the same tactics, oddly puppies were generally the most receptive. I guess it was something to do with being cute and squishy.

Tormenting and taunting zergy, desperate, creeps in EC by myself. Waiting for them to track and charge, kite around, evade evade, get all npcs on them, pick my favorite to stunlock & bleed, watch them all die, HIPS away laughing. Rinse and repeat for as long as it's amusing.

Hraesvelgr making my and Chef's lives miserable, doing everything in his power to ensure our horribly geared and nooby freeps die repeatedly in as many ways as he can come up with. Thanks to Aza for listening to him last night.

Seemingly neverending battle with Thechef, Thebeasst and myself 3v6ish at TR road. Freeps kept rushing back from the rez and the fight lasted ages. Think we finally succumbed due to power issues from going on so long.

Chef and I chasing Rikz all the way to HH when we caught him and Cariance(?) off guard at the trees near Lug rez. He ran like such a little bish, but we dun keeled him gud. <3

Chef and I ganking an AFK Alsander at a 1v1 circle. Alsander, weeks later, finally getting his revenge on me at TR and CJing me for the entire duration of the retreat timer.

The epic battle 24-buffed TA Tyrant battle. Only several ungrouped creeps against the fraid LOSing in the windows and ledges, wiping them so many times that the tyrant had 24 buffs by the time freeps ragelogged. I remember Daenath and LBF were there, not sure who else.

    Re: Kicking it Old School

On this server I remember taking TR with just 3 other burgs and soloing chieftans all day to help kinnies get the brooches they needed.

I used to come out at level 40 (where I met zeldric) and we would have creeps chase us into TA where Bricks and Orchunter etc were lying in wait to finish them off for us. Got a few ranks before I hit 65 messing around like that.

My first ever moors memory was my minstrel on vilya, Indecent had a raid at EC/Stab area so I headed there to get my feet wet. This was long before Moria so we had weapons from Helegrod lol. I got about 4k reknown my first trip out by running out of EC and finishing the creeps Leca pew pewed down.

Hitting rank 8 on my warleader when rank 8 was the cap was awesome also. At that time there were really only a handful of WLs and only two that bothered to rank past 5 so it was a big deal.

All the huge Aza VS Adino raid fights. Can't think of a specific one, but they were all pretty epic.

Hmm.. I bet i've forgotten more stuff than i actually remember from the moors. But i definitely had the most fun back when my old tribe Dark Ones of Mordor were around and Fillet was leading raids, mostly against Adino. Back then RvR fights were alot of fun, they were all over the map at the most random places. One in particular stands out that took place right in the middle of the cows. It was two full 24man raids plus I think a 2nd creep raid and another freep group were in it too. The cows were going crazy, I think Rocky got about a dozen kb's on creeps and freeps alike. It must have lasted a good 30 minutes or so, I just remember it being so funny at times i couldnt even control my warg b/c i was laughing so hard.

Other than that i always loved the impromptu fights in the delving, b/c i'd usually log off inside so i'd run into freeps all the time farming stones. Sometimes i'd even lend the freeps a hand in taking down bosses for lumi's Too bad delving is pointless now :P

    Re: Kicking it Old School

This next old school moment is brought to you by Summer's Eve. For that "not so fresh" feeling. Another fond memory of mine takes place at stab. I was strolling to stab one day from upper bogs when I spotted a cool warg taking on a fail grd, hntr and rk. The warg killed the hunter and the rk split across stab into the friendly npc's after getting to half morale. The warg decided to stick around and fight the grd at the foot of stab. As I closed in for an assist, the grd bootzed to ec with the warg chewing on his backside the whole way into ec. I knew the fail grd would just drag the warg thru npc's and jump off the top wall that is closest to the river so that he could link up with his cowardly rk buddy. I went to the wall and waited for bootz. As predicted, he leaped down into my waiting embrace and I dispatched him with great pleasure. I then went to stab to check on that rk. As the gods deemed fit, there was a killer ba lighting him up. He died a coward's death. I never saw the original warg die in the chat box. I can only assume he hipsed and was peeing himself with laughter as he got some hard earned inf from the death of the grd. I only wish I had arrived 10 seconds earlier. I love it when the zerg gets foiled. That grd is the spokesman of this post's sponsor.

    Re: Kicking it Old School

I remember waaaaay back, I was unranked on Akara, and I was near SOP "1v1ing" my champ-friend. He was level 60. It was mostly me just harassing him and leaving him swivelling with a few hundred morale and then jumping around him. I felt like a beast; not knowing that a 65 vs a 60 was already beastmode.

Then, a group of freeps rode up and watched us 1v1. Again, I left him standing at ~300 morale. I remember specifically a rank 6ish RK dismounting her horse, and blowing me up while I was at half health. My friend told me over AIM (we were chatting though this entire thing) that the RK said something along the lines of... "lol that warg prolly still licking his wounds". Bragging about ganking an unranked, half-health warg.

First time I was ganked and I've hated zerglet freeps ever since.

Well. Id say the congo line of creeps from lugs to gv was probably my favorite moment, it was an epic day/

Also, I remember one time we had a whole creep raid decide to case one freep off of an edge near lugs and the whole creep raid died while the freep lived, knowing that he probably gained all that reknown/

    Re: Kicking it Old School

Also, I remember when Gurtha still played and when he was a cool guy and lead 6mans. I was always his go-to warglet.

I remember our 6man trying to defend red Lugz from Adino. Just us versus about 10 of them. They were all standing outside, and five of our 6man was in the lower hallway while Gurtha stood up top on a balcony. Adino's group rushed us, killed the five of us outside Lug door. We had gotten about 2-3 kills. 7 Adinolets were left standing. I remember Gurtha yelling "Rezzzingggg!!!" over mic as he jumped off the balcony and rezzed the five of us, dying in the proccess. I couldn't even control my warg, I was laughing too hard. Pretty sure we took a few more down before dying again. Probably one of the funniest moments in my PvP history though. Thanks Gurtha!

I remember being in an Aberham raid a few months ago. He had us all sit down in front of GV and not attack. There were at least 20 of us. The freeps just stood there, in shock and awe. I lol'd hard.

Another one was probably when I killed a high-rank hunter that was in an Adino raid. They didn't even notice me untill he was dead. I jumped off of Lugz to avoid giving them a kb only to die from falling . One of my first major and solo kills.

Also, a kb on a certain warden was pretty good too.

    Re: Kicking it Old School

First forum post woo! Anyway, I felt that I should expand on Bonnie's comment about that night with the tyrant in TA. He had 25 buffs, which adds up to 105% damage resistance. Why they came back after he had 24 buffs and was resistant to all damage is beyond my comprehension. Fleshstorm and Soviets were also there according to my screenshots.(terrible skill layout and ui placement)

One of my favorite moments is from back when My Lil Pwny was still around. We decided to have some fun and create an adventure that Gangly named Arachnipwnyphobia, consisting of 9 spiders in r0 skins + Gurtha running around the moors. Was alot of fun, and I'm sure the freeps enjoyed our stacking dots.

Last memory which I sadly do not have a SS of concerns me and Adino. During the course of a battle at West TA, I ended up chasing him by myself into the blue TA quest room to try and finish him off. In a shocking turn of events, he FLOPPED, and i was finished off by npcs. I can only assume he used one of those Forochel consumables, and I'm honored that he chose to use one of those very limited consumables on me. Note: This last memory is not intended to attract attacks or trolling to Adino in any way, he is entitled to his play style.

Those buffs on the tyrant increase melee and ranged damage reduction, not tactical. At least that's what it says on the buff. If it actually just does that I cannot tell for turbine is not expected to be consistent.

HA! I totally forgot about that time in TA! It was only a handful of creeps waiting to stand up to the fraid and be farmed as usual. Most creeps online at that moment were to scared to come to TA. We did not falter or run away like most freeps would do. We stood our ground despite the odds. That was definitely a moment where the gods of war smiled down upon us! The moment when we finally knew the fraid would not return was priceless. Ragelog ftw! Fortune favors the bold. Cowards never win.

This clip pretty much sums up that battle at TA for me.

That was beautiful. It brought a tear to my eye and gave me chills. That clip perfectly illustrates that night in TA and actually makes the memory of it that much better.

Also a damn good classic movie.

The last red blotch on the map that they were so desperate to cleanse. You could actually see the frustration and seething rage coming from them as they tried again and again. Good people and players involved in the defense of TA. There was so much laughter and rejoicing.

That TA fight really was one of the most epic and fun Riddermoors moments. I miss those days.

Not many will remember this one. But there were 4 prominent WL's way back in the day. The Goat, Soviets, Kyiv, and Healacreep. I found them all for at three hump. They were all rank 6 i think. I was feeling positively splendid in my new rank 8 gear (when you needed actual rank to get pvp gear ) So I rode right up to them, dismounted, and proceed to beat the snot out of Soviets. He stared at me with the others for about 2 minutes, until it became obvious I was trying to kill him. Soi The Goat bubbled him. I attacked The Goat. He got bubbled. I attacked Kyiv, he got bubbled. I attacked Healacreep...he got bubbled. 4 bubbled WL's proceed to THEN whip my butt. I peed myself laughing.

    Re: Kicking it Old School

Man, I love this thread, maggots! Thanks for enjoying my clip, Dr. K. El gusto es mio. After linking that clip I just had to watch the movie again. There are a lot of experiences I have had in the moors that are similar to that movie, now that I look at it. One scene in particular involves a noob Conan as he is thrust into pitfighting. He gets his a$$ handed to him at first, but he finally figures out what to do against his first adversary. This is the same feeling I had upon first reaching r7ish on Flesh. From r0 til r7 I was getting my a$$ handed to me on a regular basis. Then there was a turning point. Graduating to r7 gave me the final set of skills I needed in order to hold my own and survive in the moors. All of a sudden, I mattered.

To my amazement, I was finally able to kill foes that would otherwise destroy me. I'm talking about quality players like Screamo, Rubi, Alsander, Cariance, Meleo, Silvers, Shiro, Mitsubishi etc.. The sudden wealth of victories was like a drug. I was able to walk tall with the knowledge that I could hold my own. Now that I think about it, the moment I was finally able to hold my own as a solo player is my favorite oldschool moment of all time. RoI was the death knell of my enjoyment in the moors. All of a sudden, I did not matter. No amount of skill would save me in a fight against a fail, scrub, raidbaby zerglet if his/her cd's happened to be up. And trust me....RM freeps are rife with fail.

So kick back, and let me tell you of the days of high adventure, maggots!

I remember when I was first leveling up For. He was just around lvl 52. And I thought....hey...Im bored. So I went and sat at the 1 Shots at GV. I remember seeing about 15 creeps. Just Chillin. Tryin to Kill Mayo, Adino, and Kyla. And I was just sitting back healin em. I would Run around and get 1 shotted from some BA or spider. But what I remember best was when I would just yell out my AoE Skills. and drag the creeps over to the camp off to the right of the stairs. I got Rank 2 in less than 15 minutes. :P I was in vent with an OLD OLD OLD timer. HotsNDots. He was CUSSING at me and throwing a fit. I think he may have even kicked his dog.

What is an impressive feat Freepside is not so impressive creepside. If I'm 1v1ing someone 75% of creeps will let it pass (Also a reason I hate a lot of wargs on Ridder) while 90% of Freeps will just jump in. Reminds me of when I was watching Hrae fight someone he jumped, as it was already a fair fight. Then another Freep came along and decided he would turn the fight into a 1v2. The moment he touched Hrae several wargs and a reaver came out of nowhere to slay the other Freep for interfering.

And keeping on with the thread bringing up the occasion where we sat in Lugz with 12 creeps for many hours against Adino's 24+12 or so Gold Taggers was the most hilarious thing ever. We played games, we were cheerleaders for awhile, then we made a glorious conga line from Lugz all the way to GV where we met our untimely doom. Sadly all the SS's I took were on my other computer and I cleaned the thing out so I cannot allow new generation of creeps to see the wonderful silliness that occurred that day but it will always be in the memory of those who participated.

    Re: Kicking it Old School

I remember my first death courtesy of “Venomspitter” on my lvl 40 RK a few weeks after the server opened. My first KB was on Hotsndots…he returned the favor many times over. I got bored with RK so rolled a warden and ran with Bricks, Shawty, Bela, etc….Bricks and Shawty were always my favorite b/c they didn’t give a rats a$$ about stars or ratings and just jumped into a mass of creeps and kicked a$$ before the mass of creeps took them down. It was a crazy time on the server and our creep population had a high rate of turnover. Memorable spars on CM with Flesh, thechef, MMM, thebeaast,...when i was lucky, it came down to crits but the fights were usually always close. Then the dynamics on the server changed and i found a better fit for me on creepside and rolled a reaver and BA.

On creepside, screwing up freepies pve was like hitting a Donald Trump lotto…especially back in the day when DG was the spot. It was usually just me and Gangly and we put on a good show. I remember once when Morbidi was leading a group in and grabbing all the agro as he ran in and trailling a boat load of trolls and freeps, I was able to take him out and it was a snowball effect for the others…an infamy windfall ;D Then they got smart and most of the time, we just ended up being just a nuisance. A good LOL moment was when a creep/freep group attempted to take down the dragon in delving….epic failure.

You are missing the point, it was just funny as the creep had no idea what to do, not the fact that we left it alone.

I remember my first night pvping here, I started a BA and a friend was trying to teach me a bit about creep side and what not. We went into HH to farm seeds. I didnt think anything of the horse sound I heard around me since all I played at the time was freep side and chulo just murdered us both. It was pretty late around 4AM/5AM and we just kept finding him everywhere, I probably died to him about 15 times before we found anyone else. We came across Boone at wta lawn and got into a good fight with him, he killed my friend and I got the KB on him near stab. Ever since its always been a nice get away from the grinding on freepside and its something I enjoy still to this day.

btw what ever happened to boone(think he transferred?)/chulo?

I was leading a fraid of roughly 16 people against Skindred's craid. We had numbers and healers over them so we wiped um a few times b4 they gave up, but i think both sides had fun with the fights while they lasted. After the creeps disbanded I took my raid and had everyone mount up and walk in a long line from EC to OC xroads where we found a few creeps trying to 1v1. I saw Blackmass and couldnt resist doing something. So I had everyone do a couple slow circles around Blackmass, then do full speed circles around him. To finish it, I stopped and did the /mountrearup emote while everyone else was still doing circles on mounts, and everyone dismounted and smashed Blackmass to the dirt. One of my favorite moments in this game.

I used to come at forum and fight with some creeps ( I won't name it you know who you are)

Now I don't fight with them in forum and also in game.

I don't mean it it's just mood on that moment. So this is good time to just be friends again.

I just hope we all just get along and just enjoy game

    Re: Kicking it Old School

Back in one of the days before Roi, I, Evenia and Sparkylicious were the 3 freeps in moors and we were fighting against few creeps at stab. I guess they killed all of us, so we rode back from rez and we tracked foe and nature, there were 2 nat and 1 foe as far as I remember. Anyway the foe was meleo's reaver, Eolar. we expected him to charge us instead he was waiting still. we thought he was waiting for other creeps to get closer to him, so I used my Silvan Shadows and swam to TA side. So me was behind Eolar and Evenia, Sparky were on Stab. As soon as we were ready we hit our Heartseekers. and eolar was dead in 2secs. We were having fun and thinking meleo p*ssed off. but not so long after we figured he was afk. and he didnt retreat for a long time. and our enjoyment became only one sided. But luckily mortuus got a screenshot of us killing Eolar and wrote a nice paradoy about 3 of us.
    -------------

[Group] Sparkylicious: Alright, that Eolar hasn't moved in quite a while. I think he's AFK. We need a plan.
[Group] Frostmaul: I'll swim across the river, run up on that hill there to get into position.
[Group] Sparkylicious: Good, good. Remember to stealth when you get there. He may have psychic vision. After you're in position, I'm going to run in and draw his AFK aggro.
    [Group] Evenia: You're so brave.
[Group] Sparkylicious: I know. Evenia, you stay behind me and attack.
[Group] Evenia: Should I use my heartseeker?
[Group] Sparkylicious: Of course...no telling what resistance he might put up.
