I'm a returning player, (end of next week, hopefully)
I've since realised that the servers have merged and the server I did have characters on was snowbourn. I'm told the server has lots of lag because of the fact I'm in the UK and everything is now based in the USA.
Someone suggested that another reason for the lag may be the population of snowbourn which I believe is fairly large.
So as I'm returning, a fresh start with fresh characters is some what appealing, so my question and what I'd like opinions on is which server should I choose, that isn't full or bursting but isn't empty either?
Thanks (sorry if I've posted this thread in the wrong place, seems like a question that new players may also want an answer on)
there is a little lag on snowbourn but nothing that bad at least imho and snowbourn is fairly average compaired to some of the US servers ie Crickhollow which iirc is one of the largest. what lag does exist is arround galtrav and in that area in general.. the lag ive experienced isnt caused by other players in those other regions
the lag which does exist isnt caused by laitency its more of a mixture of server lag and client side loading.
if you already have toons on snowbourn id suggest paying us a visit to see what its like and maybe rolling another toon on one of the other servers to give that a shot.
but if you suffer from lag caused by network laitency it wont matter which server you play on
if your looking for a server with a lower population then look at some of the other EU servers, withywindle was introduced arround time of f2p so should have a lower population than snowy

In my opinion you should consider server/s where are ppl from your geographical area else you will find that you have levelled character and your kin raids are starting in unacceptable for you time...
Imagine your kin start raid at 02 am (for americans it is just 08 pm).
Crickhollow is very small, currently the recommended server (so it may get bigger), has lots of Europeans and others (I'm in the 'other' category) even though it's originally an American server. The starter areas are currently bustling, and we're an unofficial RP server, lots of events and a small but dedicated bunch of RPers.
For English-speaking RP servers, Laurelin is the official one, and I like it better than Landy, but that's personal opinion - since Turbine took over, Laurelin isn't quite what it was, but still better for RP.
For huge servers, some of the German ones, Brandywine, Landroval, probably Snowbourn in the UK. Elendilmir and Meneldor have respectable populations as well.
Postscript: The lag problem and stable horse problems are affecting ALL servers - just not all people. But a lot of folks are getting hit by it.
