Question about PVP and Questing zones

    Hey all,

    Two questions:

    1) How does PVP work in this game? I understand this is generally a PVE dominated game, which is fine with me, but I'm also a huge fan of PVP and was wondering how it works in this game.

    2) Do you guys recommend leaving your races questing zone and going to another? I do like a good story along with my questing, but I also like to be around as many players as I can.

There is sparring and there's PvMP.

    Sparring is one on one.
Player vs. Monster Player (PvMP) is in the Ettenmoors. Only VIP's can take their Free People chars there. Anyone can create Monsters there, but nonViP's will be limited to only one class.

Each of the 4 starter zones lead to Bree around lvl 15. so you should eventually run into others if you just follow your path.
But, if you really want to try go to one of the others, imo Celondim is the best of the 4 starter quest lines.

It's not really PvP, it's Player vs Monster Player (PvMP).

Once you have a regular (elf, dwarf, hobbit, or human; also called Free Peoples) character to at least level 10, you can start a Monster character (Creep) right from the character creation screen. Monsters are limited to a single zone, the Ettenmoors, and are created at the level cap. There are various ways to gain infamy and improve your monster character.

Once you have a Free People (Freep) character to level 40, you can take them to the Ettenmoors to fight Monster characters other people are playing. Characters at level 40 are very weak compared to monster characters, so folks usually recommend you get your Freep over level 60. (Edit: forgot to mention that you have to be VIP -- have a current subscription -- to do this at all.)

There are various quests to complete and control points to fight over. If you get enough points, you can pay to be a Ranger (freep) or Troll (creep) and be a bit uber for a short amount of time.

Going to another race's zone isn't going to guarantee you more players. The Elf and Dwarf experience comes together around level 12, and by level 18 all 4 races are pointed to Bree. It's actually a LOT of fun to play different characters of each race and see how the story-lines for them all intersect and interact.

If you are a free player and want to earn more TPs, you might choose to do all 4 starter areas with the same character. It is fairly easy to do the starting deeds in those zones.
