Thread: RK Shocking Words flash a health hazard??

In some games there is a disclaimer and warning that prolonged exposure to certain images/effects may cause some people health problems.

So how about the Shocking Words shocking flash? If I'm fighting many mobs in a short period of time and using SW in my basic rotation, it doesn't take very long before I actually have to either stop using the skill or stop playing because my eyes, and I could swear even my brain start hurting badly at this point. And if I'm playing at night with my lights out, or in a dark room, this is especially problematic.

Please, why not remove this effect, or at least be able to toggle the flash in options... As I understand it this has been suggested before, but it seems to me it is a big enough health related issue (or for some people even an annoyance issue) to be taken more seriously.

Playing in a dark room is crying out for eye strain, so turn the lights on and take a break. At worst get your eyes tested, repeated eye strain and headaches are signs of you needing glasses or a new prescription.

There is a way to toggle off skill affects in the UI. I'll see if I can find it after the servers return to us.

Thanks Iorothiel! It's much appreciated. I wouldn't want to turn off all of the skill effects, but I may have to do just that if that's possible in options. I didn't find this toggle before, but will look again in the game options as well when the servers restart.

I appreciate your suggestion, but have to say I usually have no noticeable problems of this kind while playing any game. And my eyesight is excellent. Taking a break is always a good thing though, it's true.

Still the point I wanted to make initially was that even after a short time (few minutes) this flashing effect becomes very hard on my eyes and I can't focus so much visually. It could be just me personally, in which case my first post really doesn't have much value for the community, but somehow I doubt that I'm the only one bothered by this visual.

If there are others out there who feel similarly my hope is that they'll make this known and we can send the message in this way to the devs to change this.
