Help! A gap in my leveling?

To start off, im a level 45 premium account captain who has purchased the mithril edition and 700 tp. Using those tp, i have also purchased the MM and Evendim quest packs. Ive completed the quests in all the starter areas, the LL (except for the agamaur ones), evendim (except for the tomb of elendil instance), trollshaws (except for the ones with the spiders and the giants) and about half of the MM ones (up until the ones near the eastern part of the MM and in and around goblin town). Ive also completed about a third of the eregion quests already. However, i have recently begun encountering quests that are more than 5 levels higher than me or i have great difficulty in soloing; Yet i have completed many quests below AND about my level. Is there a way to fix this gap in my leveling so that i can complete eregion and the MM without having to call in the cavalry? Im looking for a way to do this without using up tp but if using some is neccesary, im more than willing to do so to get my captains level into the 48's and 50's range to complete the rest of my quests in eregion and the MM. Thanks!

From memory, there's either Forochel or eastern Angmar (assuming you've completed vol 1 Book 6 Chapter 6, I think it is, that lets you through Rammas Deluon). These should fill the gap to allow you to progress through Eregion a bit more easily.

At level 45, the first part of Volume 2 (the epic quest) should also be possible (albeit challenging, as it is a level-50 quest-chain), and that gets you your first legendary weapon nice and early. This starts in Echad Dunann, right in the south-east corner of Eregion, but does require you to ignore lots of content to get there for level 45.

Re: Help! A gap in my leveling?

With the quest packs that I think you've got, you don't have anything for your level. As the other poster has said, there're options in Forochel and Angmar for the level you're currently at, but I think this would require you to buy them with tp.

Before you do anything more, go and start Vol 2 from the dwarf outside the gates at Echad Dunnan. The quests themselves aren't too bad, other than a couple of optional ones (and you can do the session play from one of these later on - it's pretty much the most epic session play in game, so make sure you seek out the dwarf in the 21st hall to run through it. It's called We Cannot Get Out)

The other option would be to skirmish to get the xp to get you to 48. This will be grindy, given that you won't have lots of options at the moment (probably only Trouble in Tuckborough and Siege of Gondamon), but would get you the xp with no additional tp cost.

Once you're 48, I would run through Eregion pretty thoroughly, and then head into Moria. The level 50 stuff in the Misties is quite disjointed and will slow you down, whereas there is a definite progression from north to south in Eregion if you start at Gwingris.

Forochel is about 44-50 so it would be the best spot at your current level. I'd say it is preferable over Angmar due to Angmar's heavy reliance on fellowship-sized quests (the legacy of being former endgame zone).

With the MoM revamp, you can go quest there from lvl 47. The mobs are less tough and the quests are easier than they were before the revision. The Prologue gives you about one level up already on lvl 45 and access to legendary items.

I would start Volume 2, and get your first legendary weapon. It starts at the entrance of Moria in Eregion.
Another possibility are skirmishes and the remaining of the epic quests of volume 1. Those have inspired greatness, but can still be a challenge if done underleveled. Someone else to help can be usefull sometimes.

Re: Help! A gap in my leveling?

There´s already been one or two threads on this and it seems everybody has a different suggestion.

I´m soonish in the same boat, and judging from a couple of comments and especially this handy guide I´ll go for Angmar (got the Mithril pack&Mist Mountains too). Very handy to get ATM with the rare 30% discount, but so are others.

Forochel is just outside this odd 40-45 leveling gap and who knows maybe there are others still around who will join up in the fellowship quest. Otherwise I´ll just do them a bit later or go for the challenge.
Most of the content is too easy on level anyway.

As for the OP´s problem, judging from the above guide Angmar seems to be not a bad idea above 45 either. The deed grining on level alone should solve some of the XP worries, I guess.

Re: Help! A gap in my leveling?

Lots of different suggestions here. Nice to have so many options.

At 45, you can start the pre-Moria quest chain. It could be challenging at 45 but should be doable since you are a cappy. There are 10 quests in that chain and you should get half a level out of them or more. Then you can go right into Moria and quest at 45-46. The mobs will be orange and red, but you will have a legendary weapon, and that really makes a difference in your dps.

Note: You cannot use the Moria stables until you are level 50, so you really need to have a goat to get around.

Since you already have Eregion, the alternative is to continuing questing there until 48-50 and then go back to Moria. Eregion has a very nice flow to it, and getting the quests done opens up swift travel across the region.

An additional option if you want to spend TP would be the Angmar quest pack. You might find this handy for the complete gear set that comes out of the Aughaire hub, your book quest pages and access to Carn Dum and Urugarth instances.

Re: Help! A gap in my leveling?

From your post it is not clear how much of the epic quest line you already completed, especially the Vol I ones. There are a ton of lvl 50 Vol I quests that should get you easily two levels although they might be a bit challenging.

First although at 45 as others said head to the gates of Moria and start Vol II. Do all the expedition quests as well as only the orc cave can be a bit tricky at that level. The rest of the quests is quite easy. And the session play you get is NOT "We cannot get out" but the "Fall of Moria". Both session plays are great and you should not miss it.

If you are already 45 then I do not think that getting an additional questpack is necessary unless you really finished up all the epics already. Remember that there are 15 books in Vol I. And doing these epics is also a great story (although it is a LOT of travelling).

Re: Help! A gap in my leveling?

Thanks everyone, just have one more question. Once i Finish book one of volume 2, then would i be a high enough level to continue on in eregion (im only in chapter 4)? or would i need the help of skirmishes and/or finishing up quests here and there before im a fit level to finish eregion and continue on in goblin town?

Also, Im currently working on book 6 of volume one (on the quest: the sorcerers doom) and i only have to do the nazgul instance for book 5

At your level you should be fine in Eregion. It will be a challenge, but you can do it. I took my captain there at 45. Misty mountains will also have quests to get you to 46 - 47 and from there, Eregion and Moria are your next stops.

Re: Help! A gap in my leveling?

I have three thoughts that immediately spring into mind.

One: Did you finish your Class Quests (Articles of Command and Implements of War) and collect all of your Legendary Book Pages yet? If not, those might be a good filler without having to buy additional content. Even if you can't go into the Angmar instances, you can get a helpful kinmate or random someone to run them for you. (Also, too: Auction House.) And if you haven't even started those, see your class trainer and click the Buy tab for a change.

Two: If you're on Book 6 of your Epic Line, have you thought about going further? All Epics are free, after all.

Three: Have you considered Sarnur? Working on your Thorin's Hall reputation is always a good thing, after all. Why? You get a goat, and goats are the only mounts available in Moria.

Also, as a slight aside, you can get started on Volume 2 easily enough and get started on your Legendary Weapon and Item.
