Thread: Rohan is Coming

(And Winter as well)
In case you haven't noticed LotRo is being all mysterious over on Twitter.

This is from May 25th:
"For over 500 years, the Horse-lords have defended these plains"


This is from today (May 29th):
"But Now our Enemy dares to set foot upon our land"


I guess more will be coming. If you recall we are supposed to get a live-action trailer for RoR.

I hate that Turbine has basically abandoned this site for posting new information and has decided Twitter and Facebook are the only channels of communication. I actually started a Twitter account just to follow LOTRO, but I can hardly ever be bothered to check it. I don't have a FB account and have no interest in creating one. Don't forget the OFFICIAL WEBSITE Turbine!!!!!!

Agreed. I don't use facebook or twitter. I find it kind of silly that I need to go to these websites to view news. Seriously Turbine? You can't have whoever is posting this news post it your your website as well? SWTOR did this too and I hated it. Prior to release all of their information was posted on Twitter. There were posts on their actual website saying things like "See twitter for news". Kind of stupid but it is what it is.

Good job swaying the discussion guys. I would hardly call this new information, they are just building up for something.

They're already in the Walmart flyer up here in Canada. He he. I saw an Uruk Hei set (mini Helms Deep by the looks of it) and... can't recall the second. I'll have to... oh wait I remember. A Shelob set. They looked kind of cool. *wishes he had kids so he could buy Lego* he he.

EDIT: Those are way too detailed to be Lego pieces too by the way. Unless Lego has changed drastically since I remember playing with it, it would be very expensive to put that amount of detail into something so small.

Facebook and Twitter actually work, unlike these forums....

I don't use either Facebook or Twitter and don't see that ever changing in the future. Personally I'd much prefer Turbine fix the current game to a consistent playable state rather than spend their time 'facebooking' the Rohan expansion...

Fully agree! Every since they went to free2play, it seems like it has been more important for LOTRO to reach more ppl. But as with everything in American society it is all about quantity not quality.

PS. I can say that as I am 100% American.

Those are a little too detailed for lego pieces, don't you think? Furthermore why would LotRo tease us with LotR LEGO pieces that have nothing to do with this game?

They look like something WETA might have created.

Why in gods name would we want a live action trailer for RoR anyway? Anything they could create wouldnt compare favourably with what weve seen in the films surely?

Those do indeed look like props from the movie(s). Man, I hope this isn't the first step in "movie-a-fying" the game. Next step, Elijah Wood's face everywhere, staring at you with those freakin' eyes for minutes at a time.

Are you sure you don't mean, "with that one, BIG eye..?" Look again.. Creeps me out.

Keep it optimistic everyone . Turbine didn't do everything right, saw it with RoI. But update 6 was a very good change after that. So maybe RoR will be very good! Twitter and facebook is used by alot of persons, so keep in mind that it is a wise thing to do as a company/gaming company. Ofcourse they try to build op excitement, that is what all game developers do if they want to make more money!

Personally, I'm really looking forward to it!

For those wondering why they are using facebook and twitter to release info its because even turbine knows that their forums are broken and the other sites are more reliable.

"Eyes you can eat with a spoon" is probably the most accurate/creepiest quote I've heard about Elijah, though I hear he's very popular with the ladies. Go figure.

To give the OP a break and get back on topic, that's an interesting looking horse in the second pic. It looks a little like the nag I bet on at Belmont Park a few years ago. He still hasn't finished the race. I can sure pick 'em. Hopefully, our Rohan warsteeds will be a little swifter.

I could of used that code. Didn't check the forums out before I bought Eregion.

Its still stupid. Twitter is about the worst possible vehicle for information unless you spend considerable time there; because the navigation is simply so far out of bounds of "normal" internet usage, you need to get used to the flow of communication and I dont see the point of it. Compared to the usual methods of navigating articles, websites and information, Twitters´ is unattractive, illogical and convoluted. that doesnt even touch on the meagre information content of a 130-odd letter message.

I can only think the idea is to get as many followers/likes as possible to get some free digital word of mouth. I might consider making a fake Twitter account, but I never ever will publicly (even though only visible to my FB friends, its still public) like a promotional message of any for-profit company on my real-name facebook. Its just noones business what I do and what I am interested in (its not gamer fear, all my closer friends know I´ve been huge in gaming for decades).

Pretty excited when they'll announce the preorder, but since there are issues with the 6th bag - according to patchnotes some weeks ago - all we can do is wait (well, we got used to *that* didn't we)

Got another update.

These tweets are starting to form something akin to a pre-battle motivational speech. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say a trailer at E3, featuring a bunch of Rohirrim preparing for battle, their commander delivering a speech that includes these tweeted messages.

Pre order when Live with E3 announcement if I recall :P who knows eh!

That helmet looks solid enough. The leather hardly qualifies as armor though. Nice to see the horse logo used in live action. Kind of excited about all this.

Leather helms were quite common

Since, the following Video, i'm sure, the Pictures about Rohan, could be a CGI-Trailer. I hope so.

are you forgeting how many new bugs were introduced with update 6 most of which are still not fixed, and then there is the really awesome lag that was introduced with u6......

They do just everything they want with that license... when is somebody ever going to do something as it was once planned with "The White Council" and reallywork WITH those movies and books and not just create a fast buck?

LotRO can proudly call itself the only game which has at least created something close to what brings you to Middle-Earth (although I kind of liked Battle for ME).
