When I run pits on my mini with grd/wrdn tanking I simply stay war-speech during the trash because healing isn't even needed.
By default a guardian has much higher total b/p/e than a hunter and greatly more mitigation. If a hunter/lm can tank the instance it should be incredibly easy for any guardian (assuming they know how to play). Even if the guard has bad gear he can still look good because the instance is easy.
Timmy, it might "should" be but it isn't. I can't tell you how many pug tanks I've played with who struggle on tier1s, let alone
tier2s.
And I've played with some really great guardians. Quite a few in my Kinship in fact - and there is a warden friend of mine who always amazes me with his skills. Just yesterday he easily tanked all 3 trolls by himself for the LimeLight Gorge ore quest for example. I just stood back watching in a jealous gaze lol
I also know guardians who tank tier2 foundy like it's a cake walk, dashing through the whole zone grabbing pull and after pull at once, including multiple trolls and still staying alive with ease till we reach the boss. So I have experience playing with good tanks.
And this guardian I met while doing a tier2 Pits that only had 10k morale I would fit into that category. He was good trust me.
But anyways, we are getting sidetracked here. Rather you believe the guardian was actually good or or not or doubt the specifics of my example that's fine. My main purpose of this thread was simply to stress not to pre-judge guardians based off their morale - because it's not always a good indicator. If we can agree on that, I"m satisfied.
What is really neat is when that really good 10k morale Guard gets the goodies gear and other stuffs that comes with time, and ends up with the standard ~14k morale and ends up even better.
I'm somewhat of a slowtimer in terms of completing raid stuffs due to my and my kin times not always matching up(they are NA and I'm currently in EU) so for the longest time I sat at 10.5, 11.6, 12.5K morale. Regardless of the morale I was still very dedicated to what I needed as a guard....Mitigations, b/p/e, etc.
I think that when a guard stays focused on the "bread and butter" like that, the morale they get later from gearz etc, it's icing on the cake. Now I cruiz with a nice 14.3k unbuffed. Not the most or whatever, but I feel stout.
Something funny to finish this post off on is in OP i carry 8.8k morale...lol 'cause I roll with 120% Phys Mast and 20 Crit RaWr.
Sad right.
Glad that you have found a great guard to roll with.
The isen 3 mans and ToO are completely different. While having low morale does not mean you are a bad tank, it means you are not fit for anything larger then a 3 man. While I'm in my tank gear and traited for it, I have around 17,500 morale unbufffed, and over 22,000 when I am buffed. While the max I can reach is around 24,000 but only for a while my Fortitude is up. With this I also have good mits and incoming heal rating. So while he is not bad, he would not be able to tank for ToO T2 at all.
Champs can tank Pits t2 in fervor so its no big deal if a tank only had 10k morale. But any harder content 10k just isn't enough of a buffer. With buffs I'm a little over 20k and even that's not enough when you can take a couple of hits 0ver 8k a piece back to back, 10k morale just isn't going to cut it. Its great that he has mad skills but having higher morale is simply a must if you're going to be doing the harder content.
