Could be .ini file is corrupted. Try moving the UserPreferences.ini file out of the LOTRO folder and restart game. Here' how:

    1. Start > Documents > Lord of the Rings Online
    2. Rt-click - Cut file UserPreferences.ini
    3. Go back up to My Documents > rt-clk - Paste file into folder (this will keep for later in case you need to reverse this procedure)
    4. Restart LOTRO.

This might fix it. If not, you can always cut-and-paste the .ini file back into
    The LOTRO folder.

    Good luck,

    Fara

    Re: Client "not respond"

cut and paste into another folder this will actualy remove the file from folder A and place it into folder B, next time you restart lotro it will create a new userpreferences.ini

or for less hastle simply rename the file to userpreferences.old or use any 3 characters after the dot, lotro will not know what this file is and will also create a new file

or what EagleNine is suggesting you do is a rather complicated way to do things and redundant for new installs as lotro creates everything in "my documents\the lord of the rings online" the first time lotro is run..ie
    cut the userpreferences.ini
create a copy of my documents\the lord of the rings online
then past userpreferences.ini to the new copy of the new the lord of the rings online folder

in this scenario all you realy need to do is to create a copy of my documets\the lord of the rings onlne this actually copys everything within that folder not just the folder. then delete the orriginal userpreferences.ini
