It seems that the anthem of compassion doesnt remain active for duration of combat anymore if you have 4B class traits. Am I missing something? The mouseover text on the traits dialog for 4B says in part "...Anthem of Compassion now persist through Combat or until a Coda is used."

Mine kept dropping out too, and my target 'de-tabbed" a lot in the same session. ie my target lost it's target marking randomly, mid fights, and my AoC also dropped out. Traited 4 blue 3 yellow at the time. I'm now using minstrel buff so i noticed it, particularly.
Skill lag has improved since last patch but AoC vanishes while in combat. Does it only persist in melody now, or is it a bug?
Thanks-i thought that was probably it. Been healing with other minstrels as I learn and with codas cancelling and some changes I'd thought I'd learned bugging/being fixed/updated every patch I had got thoroughly muddled!
It is pretty annoying, although I'm traited 4y/3b for healing I would quite like to heal in Melody stance rather than Harmony, however I can't use the persistent Anthem granted by Yellow specialisation unless I'm in Harmony ... and it really is too useful not to have.
IMHO, Anthem of Compassion is a waste of a skill, whether it persists or not. If you drawing heal aggro, then something is very wrong.
I can't remember a time when I out aggro'd any tank or dps class with my heals.
I would suggest altering tactics to manage your aggro better. If you still have issues, lute strings and your de-aggro skill (I don't remember it's name because I haven't used it in so long) are better choices.
Sorry if I derail this thread. Anthem of Compassion is not on my bar anymore. There are much more valuable anthems for your fellowship to have.
Again, IMHO.

While I don't use it either, imagine a situation where your Guardian takes a few massive strikes in a row and goes down. If you had Anthem of Compassion up, it would be easier for someone else to get their attention, since you could very easily be next on the threat table.
I use it in saruman once we're stuck in combat. I hardly ever use codas, so being able to put it up and forget about it, why not? if i do use a coda, just refresh it in between phases 4 and 5. makes it pretty certain you won't get even passing aggro on any of the clones if a tank misses one at the beginning of phase 5. havent done f/f on my minstrel, but i would imagine it would be very useful there too, as the poster above says.

In general I would agree with you here. If I'm running with my kin or experienced people then agro management isn't a problem. I also do a lot of PUG runs and every now and then you get a new tank. I'm one who is willing to work with people as they learn so I will stick with the run. I had a foundry run the other day where even with Anthem of Compassion I ended up grabbing a couple mobs, and this is while I'm managing my agro. Problem was new tank so DPS was pulling agro and while I would be healing tank, or a dps class, occasionally a mob would come running at me. I actually ended up busting out my lute strings, which I never use, even when my kin does t2 TOO, because our tanks are that good. So it's dependent on situation but I like having it around
Thanks for your replys. Most everything is situational and I probably should not use 'always' and 'never' when discribing things.
However, I won't be putting Anthem of Compassion on my bar unless something changes in the future. It's just not useful for me.
Cheers.
