Thread: Please help....ridiculous start to the game

Okay well....I spent 16 hours downloading and installing the game then I finally got to play it. When it brought up the character page it showed "Male ; Female" for the race thing then under that the classes. Then there was a big black space where I think the character should be...the "continue with character" button was inactive...therefor I can not even continue past the character page. Any help?

iirc that bug has to do with DirectX if you're on Dx11 try lowering it to a lower version

Um yeah, sadly I am a very untech person, how do I do that? Oh and thank you for replying.

open up your options panel (on the main screen when the game is open)
it should by default be on the graphics panel
look under Quality for "Graphics Hardware Level"
switch it to DirectX9

if you have no characters you will be sent straight to the character select screen
click the button at the bottom to exit character select
from the toon select screen click options on the right
under graphics (should be on this screen already)
find graphics hardware level, and select directX 9
exit and restart lotro as prompted, you sould now be able to create your toon

once youve entered the game world you should be ablet to switch back to dx10\11 (press default key O to open options)

makesure you update your graphics drivers (install the latest version), especialy if your graphics card\chip is intel based you may find lotro will only run with dx9
