Changes like this have to be approved on quite a few levels, coders have to work up the system, UI teams have to adjust assets and create new implementations, QA teams have to test this and then test again under various loads and situations.
QA teams? I thought we on live servers are the QA.
If I could cap a toon at 60 and gear it up really well I could use all that mid-game content in perpetuity. I could convince my friends to take a toon and do the same. Voila! Meaningful Rift raids with appropriate challenge. All those instances in Moria become worth something again. Scalable instances that the developers create are still of value.
It's such an easy proposition. It just involves doing something that a substantial portion of the customer base wants and it allows them to make your content fresh again. It makes the game much, much better for new players that you want to keep subscribing. It's a huge win-win.
If you fail to see the attraction of such a feature, if you are uninterested about it or even downright opposed to it (for your -own- use), do keep in mind its becoming live will -not- affect you. At all. So you have no need to discourage its implementation..this is about players that wish it. Simply let it be
No. Absolutley not. I will not let it be. To be honest, even though I feel that it is an uneeded feature and Turbine should spend it's resources doing something else, I have nothing against an XP stopper. It will not affect me because I won't use it. So if it comes int existence I won't lose any sleep over it.
But to tell someone in the General Discussion Forum not to disagree with your opinion and to "let it be" is quite frankly, arrogant.

Oh But it was ok when they did it to FIT your Playstyle.....
When all the QQing end gamers wanted faster XP curve they got it....
When They wanted XP accelerators they got them.....
Double XP weekends.....
ETC....
No we Just want our small share of Developer time and resources that we
also Pay for through TP Point Purchases and VIP Payments.
We are as deserving of getting one Item to support our Playstyle as all the Engamers we deserve to have
some resources spent on us for a change instead of multiple ways to fast level to engame.
I never asked for any of that. Why quote ONE LINE from me and blame me for your warped vision on what's been going on.
I don't play end game content. I level slower than anyone.
I don't want an exp off button because it's exploitable and because we already HAVE one. It's called grey quests.

First of all, how is the ability to turn off XP exploitable?
The only exploitation possibilities that I see are that people could actually repeatedly exploit content at the level it was meant to be played at. Surely this is not something you would complain about?
Secondly, grey quests don't do anything to help with the over-leveled for content problem. Can I run Dark Delvings over and over again with toons for which it is no challenge? Sure I can but what's the point? I actually get to run Dark Delvings as it was meant to be run about once every 6 months for a few days or a week at the outside when one of my toons passes through the appropriate level window for it.
I haven't run The Rift in a meaningful way since a couple of months after it was released. It's too narrow a range of levels and at too low a level to be able to get up a raid of appropriate level players to take through there. Even if I hover one of my toons in the low to mid 50's for months, which I have done, the odds on finding an appropriate level raid are low.
This is content that can only be run in a meaningful way if the devs scale it up to maximum level or allow players to choose to create toons to run it and the associated mid-level instances.
I can't even run Dark Delvings at appropriate level for long if I choose to run the other Moria instances also. I level too fast and there's no way to stop that.
@Hex2323: Friend your notion of exploitability, if i understand it correctly from your posts, is a very, very skewed one.. you were once upon a time -meant- to have 'an' armour set coupled with 'x' amount of shards in your inventory every so many levels..the fact that the pace has increased to an extent where i can still have a level 8 ring on me in my late twenties, and not due to lack of motivation on my behalf is where the problem is..if someone wishing to immensely, granted, slow down one's pace and do things the "unproductive" way, i fail to see how in your "logical" eyes this constitutes an exploiting. Speaking of which dear voice of reason, if you deem this worthy of being classified as an exploit, doing things at their intended level for god's sake, what pray you must the low levels think for end game characters farming lower areas to gear up their alts? Or will you call this an exploit too
And to put things back on track, this is beyond gearing, or making the most of a certain amount of content. If some wish to approach everything in a materialistic manner, their fault, not my own. This thread is about requesing an option that if provided, allows one to make the journey to top matter, last longer, demand for more, put it anyway you wish. Because some things -are- about the journey. For some people.
@Beleg: Many thanks, point well-taken, ahem.. will make sure i head over and sign most of them

Weird. Maybe he's thinking of WoW, where people would stop leveling at various caps, so they could be at the top end of the range for PvP battles. That's not exactly an exploit, but it does distort things a bit. Since LotRO doesn't have anything like that, I can't imagine how this feature could be exploited.

Some of those other threads are pretty good. There's been quite a rash of "XP slower" threads lately. I think there's a chance the devs will listen, since it's probably fairly easy to implement, and some people would be willing to pay TP for it. We'll see...

Q1: Will you ever have an experience eliminator/on-off switch? - Justin Viskoc
A: Since we’ve already done some work on an experience disabler, I’d say the odds are real good J. It’s not 100% polished yet and until it is, here also is the standard fine print line that there is no commitment implied here as to when it will see the light of day. - Linda “LLena” Currie, Design Director

It seems to me that they have just have some technical hurdles to overcome. I would really prefer them taking the time to make sure it's polished, this is one thing you don't want any bugs when using.
