Thread: Lotro mithril edition account activation

Ok I l am now addicted to LOTRO and have decided that I am going to get LOTRO Mithril edition. But once you have Mithril Edition how do activate it on your account(in game account)? Do you have to create a new account to use Mithril Edition? When you create a new account with Mithril Edition does it get the horse and quest packs? And do all in game accounts receive Mithril Edition?
Please forgive me for my numerous number of questions as I am really keen on getting Mithril Edition but please answer all of them!

I am assuming, though I don't have it, that all you do is go to your account preferences(where you add a credit card etc.) and input a code that they give to you. This will work with your existing account!

Once you buy it inside is a paper and it will tell you how to do it for the code or you could also use the disc that comes with it and you can use it with your account

A little confusing. Actually, using the disks won't help you in any way.

Inside the box will be a slip of paper with a product key. Go to https://myaccount.turbine.com/ , log in, and apply the product key to your account. IF it asks you for a form of payment, choose "Game Card" and "I'll apply the game card later".

Ok, but do I have to create a new account (in game account)?, because when I get Mithril Edition I want to use the 2000 turbine points, buy a warden class and use that class.

NO

You don't need to create a new account

Once you have logged into your account page select the Lotro Game
You should see an option to UPGRADE -- click it

You then ADD the code from Mithril Edition

Your game will then be upgraded to include all the Mithril Edition content.
It might take a day or two to receive the Points. This is normal, it might even add them right away

Sorry let me change that can I CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT for mithril edition and DO THE QUEST PACKS AND HORSE GOT TO ALL IN GAME ACCOUNTS OR DO THEY ONLY GO TO ONE OF THEM?

FOR EXAMPLE: you have 3 toons on account A. You make a new account B and login to myaccount.turbine.com with the account B details (email and pw) and then apply the mithril edition code to account B. all toons on account B have access to the mithril edition + perks, but NOT account A.

This is absolutely right. Do NOT make a new account unless you want to in essence start over. I just bought RoI (better deal imo) and then added the code to my CURRENT account (I had bought Evendim, Trollshaws and ND on it). There was no problem what so ever. So if you want to keep your old quest packs and everything else just add it to your current subscription, there is no need to make a new one unless you want to start from scratch. Your Turbine account by the way should be your game login when the client starts (not your characters)

You go to https://myaccount.turbine.com/ and log in with YOUR CURRENT ACCOUNT. You use the username and password that you use to play the game.

You choose the Upgrade button which gives you a place to type in the product code from your Mithril Edition box. There is no difference between "in game account" and "Turbine account", they are the exact same thing.

"Toons" is a word some folks use to mean characters. Your "toons" are the characters you play in the game. Your characters are linked to your account.

I think all the new words and stuff is confusing you so to simplify it as much as we can here goes: Your login for the game (when you first start the LotRO) is the same as your turbine account. So if your login is: richard123 and your password is: 123456, it is the same for the link https://myaccount.turbine.com. They are the same.

If you go to the link, it will ask for the code, type it in. Just follow the instructions from there. Remember the Turbine account login is the same one you use when you login to play the game.

make sure you log in first before adding the serial key.

(Double checking), why souldn't I create a new account and do all toons still get access to all Mithril Edition content?

If you create a new account, your existing characters WILL NOT have access to the Mithril Edition content. Your existing characters won't have access to the TPs that come with the Mithril Edition. For your existing characters it will be as if you never bought the Mithril Edition.

IF you create a new account, only the toons on your NEW account will get access to the Mithril Edition content. (The toons that don't exist yet.) Is this what you want?

Yes sir. The characters (toons) you have on that account will get those benefits. Example. You have an Account A, you have Character X (a Toon) and Character Y (another toon). Once you apply the code to that account (Account A) both characters X and Y will receive the upgrades. As well as other characters (toons) you create on that same account.

IF you make another account (account B) and upgrade that one, Characters X and Y WILL NOT receive the upgrades.
