What seems to be the least played Race / Class? Was thinking of creating another alt with all the changes that have taken place and want to play race/class combo that is not seen that often in Middle-Earth. One of the only ones I can think of is Elf/Champ. Not that appealing though.
Seriously though, you'd be better served going with what appeals to you most rather than trying to help fill an arbitrary quota. There's plenty of most everything around, including Dwarf Champions and Hobbit Guardians. Which is adorable really... tiny little hobbit holding his own against a forty-foot balrog.
Granted, there are certainly more of some races (Men are naturally popular, being humans and having a wider range of class options) and classes (DPS classes have a lower level of tedium than healing or crowd-control). But in the end, it really depends on what you want to do with the character. Are you interested in tanking for a group on a regular basis? Or healing? Or just want to explore new territory, learn a new class? If you've really no preference, pick something at random and see how you like it!

In an all dwarf kinship, being a hunter is quite rare. I agree with the other posters though go with what you find appealing. I like all my different races and classes. The only man character I have is my captain. If I could find any lore for another race to be one I would definitely try to get another race for it also. Have fun with whatever you decide to play
I love my Dwarf Hunter. His name is Shotti. Shotti Sureshot. And he is quite a colorful fellow.
He had the highest body count in his archery class. Unfortunately, the count consisted entirely of classmates and instructors, leading to his being banished from Erebor. Apparently beer and crossbows aren't the best combination when it comes to safety.
So now Shotti wanders Middle Earth, drinking beer and shooting things. And occasionally getting banished again for negligent homicide or reckless endangerment. It's a simple life, for a simple dwarf.
I wouldn't have it any other way.

Funny. Few hobbit Guards, eh? Yet the class was based on Samwise. Idk. I have a hobbit Guard, and know several others, too. Dwarf Huters, though? Definite rarity. Imo, you don't see too many good LM's any more...
In my experience hobbit hunters are the least plated Race/class in LOTRO, I've seen a few dwarf hunters and hobbits guardians but besides for my own hobbit hunter (which I deleted at lvl 60 ) I've only ever seen one other..

The final class I rolled was a Guard and given that I also hadn't rolled an elf at that point that is what I ended up with a female elf guard. I can't say I've spotted too many of those around and guard does seem to sit a bit strangely with a female elf but no matter she has plenty of pout and attitude
Yesterday I noticed one of the loading screens was the info screen for Guardian. It said "playable by all four races" and it made me think of all the guardians I have met during these 1,5 years I've been playing. I could not remember one single time I had interacted with an elf guardian. Maybe because of their slender body type they don't seem to be one of the most popular choices for a heavy shield wielding guardian. Or are they? Maybe I confused them with elf wardens, which seem to be a lot more popular than guardians?
EDIT: Catburg you beat me to it although I didn't pay attention on the gender of those possible elf guardians.

My first, and main, character is a female hobbit hunter. She's a level 53 now and gets better every time I play her!
Likely that, and they are the worst race in terms of racial boni for tanking. Hobbits dont fare much better as well, but it is there.
Race of man is hard to beat for tanking. +5% incoming healing +(level)x4 to all avoidances.
Apart from that, my personal say would also be that dwarf hunter is the rarest.
I forgot about this one. My wife has a 75 Elf Guardian as her main, but it is a pretty rare combination. She especially likes tanking something big and nasty while wearing the prettiest dress she can find just for attitude.
I've seen quite a few Hobbit Hunters on Windfola. The Hobbit Flop is nice for classes that might get aggro they don't want. Not as useful for my guardian, but it occasionally comes in handy to have one de-aggro skill as a tank.
Dwarf hunters are rare, but female elf guardians seem even more rare. I have one, and get comments often that the combination seems unique. Maybe it's a server thing? I agree with the others that choosing a class/race combo makes a lot more sense when it's a combo you'd enjoy playing rather than strictly to be different. Unless different is more appealing.

Male elves does not even look like males...i think that is one of the reasons they are not so popular :P

Similar on my server, Hobbit and Dwarf Hunters I have seen one of each. Can't remember seeing many Dwarf Minstrels, Hobbit Wardens or Elf Guardians either.

Take a few days to look around, as you wander your server, every now and then hit the Social panel, it will give you an idea of what is rare. By class alone, I saw few Burglars on mine that led me to try one.

Due to me being an altoholic and having just about every combo conceivable, I thought I'd try to fill in the gaps with those rarities that even I didn't have. Here's what I came up with...
Dwarf/Hobbit Hunter - I now have 1 of each
Male & Female Hobbit Guardians - I now have a male, need a female yet
Female Elf Guardian - Already had a male
Female Hobbit Warden - Created, just not started yet
(Female?) Dwarf Minstrel - (S)He's my next one
I never, in 13+ years of MMOs, ever had a female character until I started this rarity theme about a month ago. Now I'm kinda liking having a female or two mixed into my gang on each server. Who'da thunk!
And a note here - I have 5 Wardens, 3 of which are Elves, and the largest number of my characters are male Elves including 4 of my 5 mains (all Hunters). I happen to think the male Elf appearance is quite appropriate for the lore.

Heh. I knew there was a reason why I play LMs and Minstrels. More tedium (and with any kind of luck, less bloodcurdling "challenge")!

Sir, so long as you don't create a female character just in order to look at her backside all day (the reason so many male players create female characters), your female character will be welcome among all us other females.

LOL I could never understand that. It's a bunch of pixels put together for a three-dimensional (or a reasonable facsimile) cartoon basically. If i wanted to stare at a females' backside, I can think of a lot of other places to go where they aren't the product of a dev's imagination. I'll take the real thing any day of the week.
No, my gals are just part of the gang and kinda make it feel more realistic. I even find myself, when playing one of the males, thinking of her as though she were actually being played by a female and the guys all kinda lookout for her. LMAO. Weird huh. Only my sassy little Hobbit Burg is anywhere close to being sexy, but it fits her persona. My Race-of-Man female Captain is a thin, redheaded, freckle-faced tomboy and my female Elf Guardian is kinda muscular and tough as nails. When I'm playing any of them though, they are just another member of my close-knit group of adventurers and not a backside to distract me. Oh, and I now have a use for those gowns and pastel colors that my guys never knew what the heck to do with.

Better question. Why would you want to look at a guy's backside all day?
Burn.
Lol, I don't even care to redownload the whole client to fix the one corrupted file.

Say what? Who said anything about looking at guys' backsides? I don't play MMOs to look at my or any other player's toon's backside, male or female. They're toons for crying out loud. (And a guy's just doesn't do anything for me anyway.)
Oh wait. I see what you did there. That's a Freudian rhetorical question. Right?
I made another alt because I wanted a farmer and as I stated above I made an elf guard because I had neither elf nor guard in my stable.
I'm not a RP type but I do like to have a little back story for my characters in my head. When setting up this toon I pushed the build bar to as heavy as I could cos after all it is a GUARD. Since she's an elf she still didn't look that big but did look more like a human proportion. She's a woodworker/forester/farmer so I had this back story for her that she was actually a lumberjill type and would have build up some serious muscle chopping trees and fending off any marauding forest beasts and orcs etc. This leads me to her weapon of choice ie an AXE. Ok so that isn't the racial ideal for an elf but given that she is primarily a crafter (even though at level cap) and occasional helper in landscape quests where tanking is required she plays well enough.
Another alt-aholic here. I started playing EverQuest in 2000. I have been using more or less the same back story for most of my characters since before that time. Howsomeever, Most of the males in EQ look very uncomfortable. It is as if they can never find the right kind of bush out in wild and have locked up something or other. Anyway back then I exclusively played first person and I never took roleplaying to any sort of extreme with any character. I have been dual boxing since closed beta and have a female hobbit guardian working with a female hobbit burglar. Another pairing is a male elf hunter and a dwarf hunter just getting ready to take on Moria.
Anyway, I have fun with all my alts and that is the point of the game or any game.
Also Faerlynie Grd61; Helga Htr56; Gilglasun Htr55; Faeracar Wdn51; Yanamila Lmr36; Zharyl Min36, Lirsun Wdn31; Symliwen Min23; Sunlaer Htrr23; Tharel Chp22; Aethylwulf Grd17; Sunrian Lmr16 + the other accounts;play on Crickhollow, too.

Well, maybe these LotRO 'pixel' men shave compared to us real men.
As to Male Elf appearance, I think the big killer is how certain hair has jewelry with it before you start playing, I remember testing a few Male Elves and if I got a hair setting with jewelry, I changed it, the ones without seem mainly fine just the ones with look effeminate(?). The Male Elves are the only characters that get this.
Yes, some Elven Men in LotR had jewelry on their heads but really we should be allowed to choose for our characters what type of jewelry/headband they wear, not get a permanent marking from start. What if some character wants to put a circlet on but the permanent headpiece ruins the look? How do you appeal Turbine on this?

Altoholic here too. I've got one char of each class at level 53 - 72
I also have this knack for unusual combinations: Besides "obvious" choices like female hobbit burglar, human guardian (female), elf LM, dwarf RK, and a captain (forced to human there), I have a dwarf minstrel, a male hobbit hunter, a female hobbit warden. And a male elf champion.
My Landroval "I-want-to-go-to-Weatherstock" char is a dwarf hunter. :-)
in my thoughts and in my dreams they´re always in my mind
these songs of hobbits, dwarves and men and elves
come close your eyes
you can see them, too
Joking aside, I don't see too many Hobbit or Elf Wardens. But then Wardens and Rune-keepers are probably going to be rarer than the base classes, since you have to buy access to Wardens and Rune-keepers one way or another.

I personally love my hobbit guardian. They have a good vitality bonus and by slotting the racial strength trait, you can remove the hobbit's strength penalty.
