    General Questions

So its free to play. I get that part. All the content listed on the site under "Free to play" is just that; free to play. I get all those quests etc. Now I have a question. If I get shadows of angmar and/or Mines of Moria, I assume I get extra Content? Including the extra maps and whatnot? Is that still free (aside from the obvious buying the disc thing)? Also, a source of confusion for me. The description for mines of moria on amazon.com states the level cap as 60....Here the level cap is 75 and I remember another place on this site stating it was 50....What is it really? Specifically for Free players. Thank you very much!

purchasing shadows of angmar only ever and still only gives 30 days of game time, which will give you quests upto the walls of moria, lothlorien, enedwaith and great river

a boxed copy of mines of moria will also give you 30 days of play time, 2 character slots, 2 classes warden and runekeeper, quest in moria, skirmishes and one or two other bits

however you need to makesure the copy of SoA or MoM do not contain the codemasters logo, especialy if you live in the EU. codemasters copys of lotro will NOT work with the new global service, boxes must only contain the turbine logo
Also, a source of confusion for me. The description for mines of moria on amazon.com states the level cap as 60....Here the level cap is 75 and I remember another place on this site stating it was 50....What is it really? Specifically for Free players. Thank you very much!
well... lotro has undergone several changes to the endgame level
orriginal SoA the level cap was 50 for everybody
the mines of moria was released which raised the cap to 60
then came siege of mirkwood which raised the cap further to 65
next we have rise of isengard the most recent expansion which raised the cap again to 75.
and comming to a PC near you soon we will have riders of rohan which will raise the level cap even further to 85

the level cap is the same for everybody at 75 but if your 100% free you may find it difficult to get to 75 without purchasing quest packs and expansions, but you can obtain all of these 100% free if you want to spend time grinding turbine points

OK thank you VERY much. This helped a LOT! Thanks for taking the time to answer so thoroughly! One last question. How do you actually "spend" these Turbine Points? Is there an In-game store or something? For, say, buying expansion packs? It really feels like it is right in front of me and I can't find it. Sorry! Thanks again!

Yes, there is an in-game store. Press Ctrl + S whilst in game to access.

    Re: General Questions

Ok So it is in fact possible for you to get all expansion packs/quests/etc. using only turbine points? It would probably take a long time but forgetting that.... Not sure how I'd go about doing it? I found a site that shows me where to get all TP everywhere in the game throughout all expansions. I'll probably just grind extensively and get enough of the TP to get some expansions then search the forms for a way to do it all right. Thanks again for the info!

    Re: General Questions

quick way to make some very fast tp is to start a new character of each server. once to get to about lvl 5, you will find a quest that gives you a basic tutorial on the lotro store, and turbine generously gives you 10tp to go and have a look. Grab the tp, but dont finish the quest!, 10 tp from each server in about 15min to half hour work (per server) = do the maths!

Looked at something online. If I'm getting it correctly, you can have another character on another server and do the quests over again, the ones you've already done, and get the TP from those quests again? Is that true?

Yes, that is basically true. There are 4 starting zones (one for each race) so you could vary it up a bit by doing different zones with different characters. But doing the starting content over and over with disposable characters is the general approach.

As you acquire more quest packs, you can take your disposable characters to higher levels and run them thru more zones. Saving your TPs for ONLY the expansion zones of Moria, Mirkwood, and Isenguard is going to make getting to level 50 (which is what is required to play in Moria) very difficult. You'll want to acquire zones that help you get from level 30, when the free content ends in the Lonelands, all the way thru level cap of 75.

    Zones I recommend:
    • Level 30 - 40: Evendim
    • Level 40 - 50: Forochel and Eregion
    • Level 50 - 65: Moria
    • Level 65 - 75: Isengard

I'm sure other people will have other recommendations! There's more than one path to 75 so enjoy the trip.

gotcha. Thanks! Does the same idea work with multiple characteres per sever as well? Also, I'm a bit confused about something. Expansion packs include quest packs? I hear you can buy expansion packs as well as quest packs seperately. Just wondering. Thank you all very much!

Edit: Will deleting a character on a server and recreating one preserve the points? I can test that out in the early stages but just wondering.

Yes. As a free player you can have 2 characters per server, and you can unlock more with TPs. (But you probably have more important things to spend your TPs on.)

Yes. An Expansion pack includes a quest pack plus other things. The Moria expansion pack includes the Moria quest pack, the Warden and Runekeeper classes, 2 character slots, and I think an increase in the level cap for your skirmish solder. If you want all (or most) of the things in an expansion pack, it's a much better deal to buy that than to buy the stuff separately.

Yes. All the Turbine Points you earn on any character anywhere goes into the same "pot". Deleting the character doesn't delete the points you earned playing it. You can earn points with one character and spend them on another.
