Turbine hosts 300 job-seekers at Rhode Island hiring event

Just wanted to throw this up on the forums. I think its good news that Turbine is hiring, and the future does look bright.

If you were vying for one of the 50 jobs Turbine put up for grabs at last night's job fair, well, get in line. The Providence Journal reports that 300-odd people showed up at the event, a turnout that the paper says was "higher than expected."

Ummm... think it had anything to do with 38 Studios laying off its entire staff? [Rhetorical question]

The 38 Studios closing was big news on the morning radio stations. I've tossed my resume Turbine's way a couple of times but I've never heard back. I work in the same business park as Turbine and I keep hoping to see the Eye of Sauron over their building but alas, no such luck.

Good news only if any of these people actually work on this game. There is sadly no reason to expect any of the new hires will work on Lotro.

I thought it was said that this was for the console MMO, but maybe that was just a rumor. I can't even believe that the console MMO is real anymore. Surely they revamped it in the past few years and changed their strategy. We are almost to the next generation of hardware at this point.

Who knows where they might go or what they might do. I keep seeing some of the Community Managers and other Blue Names that post here posting on other Warner Interactive sites as CMs there also. There is a chance many of them work on more than one game and not just LotRO/DDO, but other Turbine games, and maybe even other WB games.

The Community team has a lot of responsibilities. Each game has a dedicated Community Manager (Myself for LOTRO, and Tolero for DDO as expamples) and we have a staff of community specialists that rotate in and out and around all of our titles. Some of them are more focused or assinged to one title at a higher percentage (Celestrata for example) so Tolero and I get to abuse them a bit more .

Developers, however, usually are assigned to one project or team and usually don't rotate unless we need an extra hand with something on a given project.

We've added dozens of new hires since January and we're looking for more. I'd suggest frequently checking our Jobs page as we add new positions regularly. I can honestly say this is a great place to work!
