I'm currently playing LOTRO with a friend and we love the game, but have found it difficult to form fellowships for instances while we level up. We're about the right level for GA now and are beginning to look for groups for that dungeon. We really didn't have any trouble forming groups for The Great Barrow, but Inn of the Forsaken seems to be impossible, and it looks like nobody uses the instance finder.
We've been playing MMOs for years and typically roll a tank/healer combo (Guardian/Minstrel in this case). This has always worked great for us in the past for easily forming groups, but it just seems unussualy difficult here. We love running dungeons and I'm concrned that we're going to be missing large chunks of the content we enjoy in this game because it seems most people don't bother with anything other than a handful of instances prior to level cap.
I'd really like to find a group of people who enjoy running the instances as they level and would enjoy the opportunity to group for this content rather than skipping it to rush to the end game instances. We are fairly casual players and are not really looking to join a raiding kinship even once we get to level cap (Though we are open to raiding on a casual schedule once we get there). If we can find an active guild that we like we'll likely stick around for a long time.
Does anyone have any suggestions or is hoping to run some of this content just a lost cause?
Re: Any kinships out there that run older instances?
There are groups that run all of the instances, but not necessarily as they level. They may be too small to do so generally because they don't currently have alts in that range.
Most are willing to run something with an over-level character if you want to see the content.
Vanguard's pretty casual, but small. We definitely have people who run all of the things, though we can't field the raid sized stuff on our own generally. (Folk who do OD, BG, Rift, DN, ToO). Personally I led pug ToOs routinely (Not-Saruman).
Re: Any kinships out there that run older instances?
Second that - glff, while often annoying, is used a lot on Ridder.
Finding company for group content that isn't at the cap is very hard indeed. Take OD - a lot of people praise it and noone runs it (or noone accepts strangers, people learning the instance, people not 75 or...people not dwarves or whatever, the excuses are many).
Re: Any kinships out there that run older instances?
Thanks for the replies. I've used GLFF, but there is just so much spam in that channel that I tend to turn it off when not actively trying to form a group. I'll continue to use it when needed though.
I did notice Quest and was considering applying with them, but I figured I'd send this post out there and see if there are other kins out there who are similar. I'll take a look at Vanguard too.
Thanks again for the feedback and I'll continue to monitor this thread for a few days.
Re: Any kinships out there that run older instances?
If you are still looking DKoD is recruiting members at the moment, most of our players are at capped level but have alts around the GA level coming up. We do some of the old instances GA, CD, Urugarth, and most Moria instances if we have enough kinnies on we do participate in some end game raids but we are more a casual kin and love to help.
Order of the Morning Star is a great kin with a wide variety of players and levels. We are family friendly and some of the capped players have multiple alts they enjoy playing at the lower levels and might even have on in your range. Personally I have a 73, 48, 37, 33, 28, 23, 20, 12 and 11. If I played more I would have more levels covered but do you know hard it is to level up 9 characters.
