Has anyone tried taking the flower in inventory and re-logging? Because that's the behavior of some previously-bound festival items I had, that they removed the BoA from long ago: Show "bound" in bank, the "bound" disappears when you take them into inventory but you can't trade them, but after you re-log they become truly unbound. Don't have a flower to test it with this time.
I just tried this on the bound flower I got at last year's festival and it did indeed become unbound. Thanks for the tip and +Rep to you.
Can you get enough flowers in one run for more than 1 box?
Definitely; I got enough for 13 boxes - that was on my first time through, and I stopped with 10 minutes still on the timer. And I had 31 Primroses and 16 Marigolds left over, so if I'd have spent that extra 10 minutes around Bree, then it would've been closer to 20 boxes.
With around 20 min per area in Bree, MD and Celondim, its around 15 boxes for me. My kin friends said they get about 10-11 boxes, but then i was doing just that - riding around looking for flowers.
Thank you, Turbine, for listening and giving us an opt-out of FE! Good work!
I've gotten 22 boxes from one run today, and I think it should be possible to get more, since I was a little unbalanced between the 3 types of flowers.
The boxes didnt have much interesting things in them. Got lotsa tart recipes and flower pots recipes (many doubles) and some dyes, wall-paints, notes of affection, flowerboxes and many petals. No steed yet...

Yes the flower that I could not mail yesterday is unbound now.

How are ones able to get 20 boxes or more in one run? If I am lucky I can get 14 & that is pushing it.
I got 19 in my first try, and that's with flower imbalance (could have been 21 if balanced), being slightly outrun at least a handful of times by a highly competitive character on a +68% horse (when I'm on +62%), some extra "out of bounds" exploration and not entirely knowing where to look to get the good concentrations. With a +68% on my main and better planning of time balance, I can easily get to 20, with an outside shot at 25 if I'm lucky on what gets picked.
1) Get a (fast) horse, and use it. As soon as you collect flowers, if there is not another set very close, mount the horse and ride around
2) Ensure you have things turned on so they are visible as far away as possible (graphics setting)
3) Ride up to flowers and right click. The time spent dismounting will count toward harvesting.
4) Use the map to show the boundaries of where the flowers are. These are reasonably accurate.
5) Ride around enough in the first few minutes to get a sense of where the concentrations are and where things don't grow. Celondim has some significant hot spots, and The Shire has some significant dead areas. Bree is more balanced, but one or two good spots and one area (I think) is dead.
6) Don't compete. If someone is closer to a flower, concede it and ride on, they spawn quickly.
7) Use your milestone(s)/port(s) effectively. The riding to stables takes time. If you know you won't be effective at this, then consider averaging flower collection over 3 days and do one day in each area. The third day will then be a huge return on boxes.
8) Do it with a L26(?)+ character so you aren't dodging mobs.
9) Have a plan of where you will ride so you are pushing down a key as you mount to get a quick start.

Oh well, time to grind for another rare drop festival steed....
Thanks for the info!
Hard not to complain when the store is obviously an advantage. Some players have time, some have money. But to get the new steed you have to have BOTH! Money to repeat the 1 hour (time) quest.
I opened 3 and got a dye, lvl 20 food recipe, and a giant flower.....
On my fourth character, I remembered to actually copy down what I got...

The server and what time you are doing the quest is important. If you are on a high population server at peak load you are going to have lots of competition for the flower spawn sites.
I will be giving up on the horse very soon. Yes, I did repeat the anniversary daily 10 times to get the horses, but that took about 5 minutes tops. This one is one solid hour of tedium.

I've been wanting those tart recipes for a long time now, so I'm happy. I wouldn't mind getting more Crimson dyes either! (I'd want things to match, so one's not quite enough... but there's plenty of time left!)
I got a Cloak of the Dove from my 18th try (spammed blue giftboxes all the way). Everything else was Notes of Affection, tart recipes, and a couple of Ered Luin Blue dyes, Sky-blue Wall Paints, and home decor recipes each.
I did see one in the AH. Now I don't know if this person had this already or got it from one of the boxes this year.
My guess, and it's only a guess, is that the recipe on the AH was from another year or event. The pattern for tart recipes seems clear: raspberry, strawberry, blackberry. Whereas in years past Blueberry Tart recipes were falling from the sky, this year they seem mysteriously missing. Maybe we'll see them in the Farmer's Faire coming up later this year. (Hopefully!)
Have I missed it or are the tailor recipes not dropping this year? I've been looking forward to getting them for my tailor since they are only available once a year. Shame if they removed them.

This.
I have done this with three characters now, no horse (or cloaks), and I don't think I want to do this anymore. I did anniversary envelope quests every day for all my characters (I only stopped with a character when I got both mounts and emote), but this one gets tedious.
Well I got the mount. I have to say this mount is quite annoying to ride with that jingle noise going non stop. After a few minutes riding it, I switched to one of my other mounts. I wont be riding this one again.

So far, Blue has 3 store cosmetics and a steed (Jester Steed +68/250hp Elf Queen Dress, Cloak of the Dove, Swan Cloak)
Things like this are just another example of what angers me with Turbine. You can grind for many days in normal game play to get reputation to buy a rep horse and it only has normal speed, yet they give away the fast horses. It makes no sense whatsoever... Just more Turbine logic.

You can also grind for many days and *not* get the rep horse. The normal festival horse is a sure thing, and you know how much you have to grind for it. Seems like a reasonable trade-off to me. I've done about six hours of flower-gathering and no horse yet. Is that "giving it away"?
[Oops, just noticed I bought into a derail. Sorry. I now return you to 'reporting gift box contents.']
