1) SHould I make a warg, a BA, or stick with my freaver?
2) Is GW2 gonna turn out like SWTOR and RIFT? It looks promising, but so did they... Your thoughts?
[QUOTE=Drakojan;6187438]1) SHould I make a warg, a BA, or stick with my freaver?
This is the only one I have any real experience on, so I'll try to help.
I recently bought the stalker, and it has been a blast plyaing him. It seems to me that my stalker has more DPS than the reaver, and it has stealth. It's just more fun for me.
But my advice is to try the mirror class of whatever freep class you like, if you have one.
Freeps: 78 LM, 56 Ward, 45 Guard, and many, many more
Creeps: r7 Def, r6 Warg, r5 Reaver, r3 Spider

2) Is GW2 gonna turn out like SWTOR and RIFT? It looks promising, but so did they... Your thoughts?
1.) BA if you like ranged
Warg if you like running away
Freaver if you like being farmed (endlessly)
2.) I played the Beta. Many people here played the beta. It's awesome. I had less lag in that Beta than I do in Lotro. Then I came back to Lotro when the weekend finished, I just thought to myself "No" and just logged off.
It actually has balance, believe it or not. Of course, certain builds on some classes could destroy other builds on other classes, but it's mainly dependant on skill.
World vs World vs World is REALLY fun.

I'm not a PvP'er, and I had a blast in WvW, even though I wasn't really doing to well.
There are a few issues that need to be worked out, but I can say from personal experience that as is, GW2 is better than at least 90% of the "AAA" games I have played in beta and release in the last 5 years or so. Rift and SWTOR are the only two games I can think of that can even compare from a technical standpoint. As far as game play, neither of the other too were good enough for me to want to consider paying for monthly. If GW2 had a sub, I would pay it happily.
Thanks for the input guys. I'm getting 5k TP tomorrow. I'll try out Warg first, since I wanted to play one since I heard of it. If I don't like it, or if I have TP left over after getting some skills that will let me survive, I'll get BA. Input on Skills/Passives/Corruptions to buy that will help me survive? I'm getting the stealth speed boost, and the shadow damage one. Anything else that is necessary? Shadow Stance vs. Flayer? I like stealthing so I most likely won't get flayer, unless you can quickly switch from shadow to flayer.

1. Why would you waste your time on this game's pvp?
2. No matter how it turns out it will still stomp this game's pvp in the ground.

Seriously man, you're wasting your money. If you think you'll survive more by getting another class - you're wrong - except warg, they excel at running away. It's newbies like you (no offence) that buy loads of TP thinking getting these skills will help you stand a chance - but they don't, and that's more money in Turbine's pocket. Hey, you may even like how OP freeps are and decide to go VIP and go freepside - more money for Turbine.

1) Not if it costs you real coin. Save it up for a better game to come along...
2) ...talking of which... ...no it isn't going to be like swtor... the game is pure awesome sauce.
I wouldn't waste $50 on 5k TP considering ettenmoors will be dead by end of the summer. If you're going to play PvE and buy stat tomes / crystals it makes more sense of an investment if you're into that sort of thing.
In regards to GW2, if you are a PVP Player then this is where all the action will be. Did PvP players jump ship to Aion and SWTOR - No. Those were two ###### PvE games, Aion being a grind fest unbalanced joke. Warhammer was not even that good of a game yet it had 2 years of solid PvP community. GW2 will be like that and then some. They are balancing SPvP to be a major E-Sport and WvWvW will have heaps of action and a good community because the people playing there are in it for fun and competition (there are no tangible rewards to speak of.) so you won't have lamers like here in LOTRO running to one shotters or zerging 10:1 to flip keeps for commendations. The general attitude of the average person in GW2 is what will make it a great game.
How is the PvE? Well there are complaints that the capital cities are too big - yes they are that enormous and immersive. You're looking at 150~ hours of PvE content from 1-80 and if you're a completionist and want to explore all waypoints, do all the hearts quests you can probably add another 150 to that. There's a solid 30+ hours of personal story (think of it like book quests in LOTRO) which all depends on your race, so plenty of replayability with alts. The auction houses are all connected by region so all auction houses in North America will be linked and you will have access to make bids/buyouts while logged out of the game from an iphone or w/e on your account page. There are arguably no 'P2W' items sold in their cash shop (micro transactions) however you can buy in game currency (gems) with gold from other players. This will eliminate botters and gold farming companies invading the game, not much of a problem since all cash store items are primarily cosmetics/mini pets items.
Considering it is F2P with no subscription, there is no reason not to try it out. I tell people that the $60 alone is worth it for the 'single player RPG' part of the game from the personal story and map exploration. The main thing is that the PvP side of this game may be something that you are not used to in that you will get destroyed quite easily. It is heavily skill based and has a lot of 'twitch' elements, if you are an old timer who takes their time clicking on all their abilities and keyboard turns well this will be a huge challenge.
Good luck and if you do indeed decide to make a BA here for whatever reason be sure to check out the monster manual. I wrote a good chunk of the BA section which I discussed all abilities/traits which will give you an idea what to buy with TP or commendations if that is the route you are taking.

Make a WL, they start off slower but are very strong r6+.

Honestly the majority of people that will actually love GW2 are probably playing GW right now or similar games. The difference between leaving this game for games like SWTOR, RIFT, AION, AoC, WAR, or even WoW are not that noticable they are all the same type of game. It's the equivalent of jumping from this game to one of the many Korean games, which will not go well for many of the people from this type of game.
If you're looking for a PvP game that runs the same way as this and some of the others mentioned stick with this game...
Stick with this game for open world, honestly it's the best of any game I've played. I can run around endgame areas of rift and WoW for hours and only get a small amount of kills (flying mounts and porticulums are the issue there really). And honestly this game is the best for 1v1s.
Go for Rift if you want a good 15-20v15-20 WF, Rift WFs are better than WoW RBGs (depending on a few things). And with 1.9 coming out for rift soon they are increasing the rank cap and introducing "conquest" which is their version of WvWvW PvP.
If you want 2v2-5v5 WoW is where you want to be for that generally (and stay for the far better PvE raids). Though with MoP Blizzard is bringing out it's own version of what looks like a cross between evening out zone numbers and cross realm open world PvP.
Other than that, try whatever games you want for a few months, you'll be back to one of these 3 games in no time at all.
