Thread: What speed is the white skeleton painted mount from the lotro store?

If you bought this mount from the store when it was available (got mine Feb 13, 2012), can you confirm for me what speed bonus it has? I know it now says 62% bonus, but thought (maybe mistakenly) that it said 68% bonus when I bought it in February.

In-game support and account support both told me the white horse was always 62% and that 68% mounts were only introduced recently. However, this doesn't add up for me because my guy bought his skeleton painted mount (green) the same day as my purchase (I got white because he was getting green and we didn't want identical mounts) and his is still 68% today. I paid about $20 (to my knowledge, can't find the receipt email) in points. Thing is, I already had a 68% rep horse that I used for speed despite it looking fugly, and would not have bought the overpriced vanity mount if it was a speed decrease.

So either I made a mistake buying the white skeleton painted mount (thinking it had the same stats as the green one), or there were once 2 white skeleton horses: one premium store version with 68% speed and the in-game festival one with a tooltip about Bilbo's haunted stuff.

That is the other mysterious part of my confusion here: I didn't even know my mount was related to the festivall/haunted house event until yesterday when I saw the mount tooltip by chance and it now says something about the festival. I don't think the tooltip said this when I first bought or used this mount.

If you know anyone who bought the white skeleton horse in the store, maybe I can get a satisfactory answer to this mystery. I am more than happy to admit I made a mistake but don't want to go by the quickie stock support replies I received linking me to the festival horse info (which I did not think I paid $20 for!!). I'm now wishing I had just got the green version!

Hate to say it but the white skele was always 62% and 100hp. White was the original skeleton painted mount, at least two festivals old, whereas the green glowing mount was introduced for sale during the 2011 Harvest Fest and was always 68% speed and 250 hp.
Steeds of Middle Earth is the source most people use to check stats/appearence/etc of various mounts. Maybe you can find a 68% mount thats less fugly.

Thanks for confirming our mistake. I did see that site but it only mentioned the festival horse and we (mistakenly) thought the store-bought version was a premium horse/speed like the green one.

If I had noticed/known the color choice affected the speed (in the store) I would've got green too but apparently we only checked green stats and then decided who got which based on color. Our mistake, but it does turn me off of the vanity mount buying thing since it was not cheap (relative to the cost of the game sub).

No idea why the same mount design would be offered for that kind of cash with one slow/one faster (they even had a deal to get the green & white together at a discount on both, so it definitely seemed they were interchangeable to me).

Sadly, even though we got slightly burned on this purchase, I admit I'd go back to the store to buy a permanent mount speed buff, if they offered a scroll or something for the slower mounts (especially for the smoky black horse).

The white mount is a festival mount that you get a rare drop from the Haunted Burrow at the Party Tree - Hobbiton - The Shire during the Fall Festival. I got all of mine my doing the daily pull from the chest. Alternatively, you can buy this rare Festival Mount from the Lotro Store.

The Green is a store only mount with stat upgrades.

You have to be careful when you are buying store mounts. They come with different stats. There are mounts with the same look - slightly different names - different stats - kind of like buying a car.
