My main is a cappy, but I recently got my champ to 75, and am building him out now.
I recall in the past reading about attack duration (the -2.5% relics) being all the rage, but I rarely see champs with them equipped. Has that changed in favor of something else (more mastery)?
Given that some of the mastery relics were nerfed last I recall I doubt there's anything in game that equals more dps than the current AD runes.

Yep, that thread says it all. The only reason you don't see champs slotting the runes is because they don't understand the massive contribution they have to your DPS and are probably grossed out the by evade and will.
Maybe at level 85 we'll have 1500 phys mastery runes that might finally out-DPS the -2.5% AD runes, but I'd still feel depressed using them all slow-like.
Yes, that is the thread I remember reading (trying to boost my cappy dps)
That's good because I had already slotted the AD ones thinking they still had to be better for DPS compared to what else is available, not to mention they are relatively easy/cheap to make compared to t7/t8 etc.

That's why I kept my old Profound Runes of Action, it's a shame the new champs don't have access to those.

QFT, those and the Deep Rune of Forest/Mountain remain the best Champ runes that have been out there.../tinfoil I'm wondering when they'll be back as store exclusives. /tinfoil

Too bad that relics arent returned when deconning the LI, so you need that bloody relic removal scroll now each time there is a level cap increase or you upgrade to a better age..
I am happy that I have two runes of action as well as a deep rune of the mountain (and making me wish I had done more grinding for relics and that I hadn't blindly waited for the past update to hit, starting to combine relics after the update, and even losing crits in the process)
If you're rocking a 2 hander you'll be need 2 of those -2.5% att duration runes for sure! You will notice your fervour pips and the general dps flow is very fluid. You'll notice a huge difference in the fluidity of play.
If you're running dual-wielding then they're not really necessary.

THIS ^^
Ever since I got two of them I'm feeling the flow ... and I still get those BIG NUMBERS onscreen. For me those -ADs are MUST-HAVE!

The mathematical advantage is the same for either DW or 2H... it's just that everyone notices how slow 2H weapons are.
for me fights in a group usually come with loads of lag, resulting in skills triggering too late, or not at all.
so for me using a 2-hander actually is better with the slower pip gen (compared to dualwield), since then the negative effect of me lagging out is less severe.
I am not certain if that is explainable or just a gut feeling, but for me it feels better that way (even though I would prefer dualwielding just for the flow).

What he's saying (and check out Deal's thread that just got bumped) is that the relative dps bonus for spotting the -AD runes is the same regardless of setup. That is:
If DPS before relic = X
Then after relic DPS = X / (1 - #runes * .025)
For two runes of action this means X / .95
which equals 1.052 * X.
In other words two ad runes increase your DPS by 5.2% regardless of you DPS prior to spitting them.
