    A Guide to Hunter PvMP

Hello fellow hunters! Moors are tough these days for us, but certainly not impossible.

Here's a video of me out in the moors.

No class is better than the hunter at blowing stuff up fast, and this is the advantage that we must capitalize upon to be successful. I thought I'd share with you some of my strategies/skill/advice/rotations that I have used in the moors. This is by no means the best way, it is just what I have used and have found relatively successful. Comments/critiques/additions are always welcome.

    Traits

I like to trait 5b2y, the 2 yellows being Heightened Senses and Barbed Hindrance. I think it's a pretty lethal combination, especially if you roll with the Faron set. You can also trait 5 red and capstone for the extra ranged damage and try to blow up the creep as fast as possible.

Traits that must never be unslotted in the moors are Deadly Precision and Resolute Aim.

    Virtues

Zeal, Fidelity, and Tolerance are the staple of Moors Virtues, because of the morale/tactical mitigations. I like to follow these three up with Valour and Determination.

    LIs

If you can, make a moors sword:

Notable Majors: Needful Haste Duration, Precision Stance Crit Magnitude, Melee Crit Multiplier.
Notable Minors: Stealth Detection, Low Cut Bleed Chance, Agile Rejoinder Heal Chance, Melee Critical Rating.
You can also get a trash LI and max out Find the Path, swapping it whenever you toggle the skill so you get that extra 6% run speed.
The must have legacies are Needful Haste Duration and Precision Stance Crit Magnitude if you run in precision stance (which you should).

Not much change to the bow:

Notable Majors: Focus Bow Crit, Induction Bow Crit, Quick Shot Crit.
Notable Minors: Burn Hot Damage, Barbed Arrow Bleed, Heart Seeker Damage, Stat Legacies.
The must have legacies are the Focus Bow Crit and Induction Bow Crit. The rest are up to personal preference.

Every bit of morale is nice, so slotting relics with morale (eg. True Rune of Two Trees) is worthwhile.

Here are some sample rotations that you can use under varying circumstances. However, it is wiser to use your situational awareness and judgement, as each fight you encounter will be different. These are the little things you have to think about if you truly want to differentiate yourself from all the average hunters, because simply pressing 123 and sometimes 4 is isn't going to cut it in the Ettenmores.

    Ganked by a Warg

    Cry of Predator

    Intent Concentration
    Burn Hot
Needful Haste (Slot the no-induction-setback trait)

    Swift Bow
Kite+Penetrating Shot/Blood Arrow until no focus

    Swift Stroke
    Scourging Blow
    Barbed Arrow (no induction)
    Blindside (3 Focus)
Agile Rejoinder (Hopefully you got a parry by now)
    Dazing Blow

    Focus Pot
Kite+Penetrating Shot/Blood Arrow until no focus

    Swift Bow
    Penetrating Shot

Ganking on the Run (blowing stuff up)

Penetrating Shot/Blood Arrow until no focus
    Distracting shot

    Intent Concentration
    Barbed Arrow

    Penetrating Shot until no focus
    Swift Bow
    Blood Arrow

    1v1

    Fleetness set, Improved Fleetness
Switch audacity set (If you have)
Needful Haste (Slot the no-induction-setback trait)

    Swift Bow
Kite+Penetrating Shot/Blood Arrow until no focus

    Scourging Blow
    Barbed Arrow (no induction)
    Dazing Blow
    Intent Concentration/ Burn Hot

Kite+Penetrating Shot/Blood Arrow until no focus

    Swift Bow
    Blindside (3 focus)

Kite+Penetrating Shot/Blood Arrow until no focus

    Focus Pot
    Merciful Shot

    1v2 or more

Note 1: Fighting BAs are bad for your health, especially when they pop Moving Target. Your Options then are either A) be a wanna be champ or B) try to line of sight yourself until MT is up. Usually you’ll be dead though.

Note 2: Audacity makes a huge difference. Get those comms!

Note 3: Stacking Tactical Mitigation is also helpful, I like to roll with ~7.5k morale and 37% tac mits unbuffed (Sarchol, Gregolin, etc)

Note 4: Don't forget breach-finders, fire-oils, vitality food, scrolls, tokens and dp buffs (if you can afford).

Note 5: Apply morale pots/man-heal generously.

I applaud the effort. Unfortunately, I think its too general.

Also, there are a couple instances in your rotations where you CC with dazing blow or distracting shot and follow it up with an Intent Concentration. I'd suggest not using skill that you can do at any point while your foe is CCed. Instead, use your mezzing-type CC followed instantly by the skill with which you intend to snare (slow) your foe so as to remove the chance to b/p/e. Then you will only have the chance to miss or resist that skill and give it a better chance to hit. As any hunter who kites/semi-kites/moves at all knows, missing a snaring skill can make or break a close fight.

    I agree.

@OP, Your warg gank guide is pretty good, however if a warg uses the R6 10s pot of fears/stuns/dazes I'd suggest starting off with a scourging blow -> barbed arrow assuming you're traiting Barbed Hindrance. This'll give you the slowed debuff and then you can kite until his pot wears off. From there cry of pred, get some more distance and then buff up if you haven't yet, and get in a swift bow. From there on do what you would normally do.

Cry of predator as first skill is just stupid, believe me, anyway Intent after that? so slow animation...an experienced hunter will run with fletness and your focus will be at TOP, then BURN hot? Really? Do you t hink you have enough time to do that all? You haven't with ranked wargs mate, but good try!

Btw too much melee skill.. use low cut, barbeds and kite till they waste sprint or dissapire, or just stand with haste and do your best damage to blow him down, but never start to use that much melee skills, you will die then, no dmg against his dmg at melee = dead hunter.

Thakns for the effort but I do think that the guide is not useful

If you don't use that much melee, you're doing something very wrong. Don't depend on so much ranged just because you have a bow.

I have a noob rune keeper and a champ that only tanks. Suck it.

As the OP says, this is one way to win the moors, but there are several. This one in the OP relies on speed and focus banking, but the other way is to go red and punch your way to victory. I prefer traiting red, since it always makes me happy seeing those massive critical's on enemies as they attempt to flee, but either way works.

Thanks for this advice, I gave it a shot and it worked pretty well (Dazing blow > Low cut > kite/pen shot). Although sometimes the low cut still gets b/p/e? Not sure though, might have been the dazing blow missing in the first place.

It is general in a sense that every fight is going to be different, so sticking exactly to the aforementioned rotations isn't always going be logical. I just figured it was a good place to start. In real situations, quick thinking and good kiting will get you much further.

I'll start recording some of my 1v1 fights and post it later to hopefully show you guys an example of what I mean.

I seem to have no chance - NONE - against wargs if jumped. Greybarred.

Faron+IF hunter, traiting 5b/2y in moors - combat traps, heightened senses if in raid or strong intimidation without. Also always drop a multi-trap near me if I have a window from the fear.

Cry of the Predator/Dazing Blow (which are my first 2 skills for recovery) get potted straight away, and then I get re-stunned and each hit does 1.5k plus the DOT.

    Dead in 20 seconds.

That said, I've camo-ganked a few wargs in my time... but if I get hit first, game over.

Having 6 pieces of audacity gear really helps, that little bit of extra time is all you need to stand a chance. I've tried out going 5 faron to see how it is, and while it was god-mode against 3-4 greenies every ranked creep I met had little trouble with me, even those I usually would laugh at.

Even though I wouldn't suggest trying it in any fight with an opponent that has even the slightest idea of how to play, I will say that melee skills shouldn't be totally discounted. I've won plenty of 1v2 fights against R7-8 wargs with a greenie tagging along by burning cds/exhausting all ability to maintain range on killing the ranked warg and then beating the greenie to death with focus shots mixed in. If you're certain you have the definite advantage and there are no others around, you have quite a bit of melee you can use to knock a good chunk out of their morale and then give yourself some breathing room (against a greenie, of course).

PURELY 100% situational, though. Wouldn't even recommend it against a 1v1 greenie if you have all your ranged up, but just saying melee is better than standing there like an idiot and trying to use swift bow.

6 pieces of audacity surely helps. I thought hunters were completely screwed with the introduction of audacity, but once I got going and got my other 3 pieces (first 3 from stockpiles of spirit stones ) I think it picked up better. I can only think of two or three wargs on my server who can pounce me 1v1, no npcs nearby, and whoop me, HOWEVER that's probably because they are the only two or three on my server with audacity 7 yet.
Audacity helps, for sure, but it's easier for freeps to get than creeps. Remember, each rank of creep audacity is 6k comms, while freep gear is cheaper (some exceptions). If you have the choice, I would recommend getting audacity on your hunter before creeps/other classes. It truly is the difference between getting flattened out there and standing a chance.
