Thread: [Laurelin EN-RP] The Silver Blades welcomes new recruits

Welcome to the front gate of the Silver Hall!



The Silver Blades is a small and friendly kinship on the Laurelin server. We are a bunch of casual players and we can be considered as a light to medium roleplaying kinship. We are currently looking for new members to strengthen our forces. The description below provides a nice overview of who we are. Also take a look on our website (the link is at the bottom of this post). If you think you would fit in the Silver Blades please apply on our forums. We handle applications within a couple of days and if we think you'll make a fine addition we will warmly welcome you!

So, who are the Silver Blades?

Our members

• Mature, friendly, helpful.
• Ages ranging from 20 to 60, on average probably around 30. We have a minimum age policy which requires you to be at least 18 years old if you want to join.
• Since Laurelin is a former Codemasters server, most of our members (if not all) are from Europe. This also means that most of us are online during evening time in Europe.
• Most members have characters that are in the level 65 to 75 range. However many of us also have lower level alts and are happy to switch to an alt to help out lower level players.
• We are casual players who play 90% for fun and 10% for other reasons like loot. We like to do 3 or 6 man instances. There is no blaming if we wipe. Not even if we wipe five times in a row (but we will probably call it a night at that point). We do try adapting our strategy or give a player useful advice if we fail at some point.
• We do not judge others based on their skills in this game. Mind you, this does not mean we all stink at playing LotRO, we have some very skilled players .
• Always happy to help each other out: either with a quest, either with explaining game mechanics to new players or with crafting something nice (often only asking to provide the very rare ingredients).
• Most of us play the game because they like the books or the movies. Our members generally stick to Lord of the Rings online (although some of us also play other MMORPG's).
• Our members are heavily PvE focused. There is a creep group called 'The Black Blades' but currently it is not active.

Roleplaying

• We are a light to medium roleplaying kinship.
• We expect our members to have character names that are lore appropriate (since this is server policy on Laurelin, this generally should not be a problem).
• Our members use the 'roleplay' flag in game.
• Generally our kinship chat and fellowship chat are out of character (occasionally there is a bit of rp in these channels as well). But we ask our members to be in character all the time in /say.
• We have members who are new to roleplaying, we do not frown upon common roleplaying mistakes (like starting a conversion with a kinmember you have never met before in game without being introduced to each other).
• We encourage our members to have a background story for your character but it is definitely not a requirement.

Events:

• There is a waymeet once a month, often we try to prepare something special for the waymeet (short horseraces, an rp plot, a quiz about fellow kinmembers, a story telling evening, doing festival quests in a group, etc.).
• We organize a big horse race every now and then. We invite alliance kinships and others to join. Often we have neat prizes and we do not ask for an entree fee.
• Some of our members like to organize roleplaying events which leads to some very nice RP events with exciting plots!
• We greatly encourage our members to organize things by themselves and our officers are happy to help out if necessary!

Music:

• A couple of our members have formed a band called The Silver Strings. Anybody can join, no music playing experience is necessary.

Raiding:

• We don't have the numbers to organize raids by ourselves.
• Some of our members are involved in raiding. There is a raiding group with alliance kinships.
• If you fit in the Silver Blades, you probably also fit in the alliance raiding group. However you will have to apply for that separately.
• Our members who are involved in raiding and who join the alliance raiding group can be considered as casual raiders. We are eager to complete raids, but there is no blaming if we fail. We try to focus on improving tactics and give useful tips to other players.
• We raid mainly for fun and to have a good challenge. No complex loot rules (when you got something nice you are expected not to roll on other rare loot that evening).
• Again, just to be clear: the raiding group is an alliance raiding group, you have to apply separately for it.

Anything else?

• We have a kinhall, the Silver Blades is an old kinship.
• We have a teamspeak server that we use occasionally (mainly for fellowships, sometimes just for casual conversation... although casual converstion mostly occurs in kinship chat).
• We are a mixed kinship. Dwarves, elves, hobbits and men are welcome. Arguments and insults between races may occur though (in a friendly way of course!).
• We do not remove members that haven't been online for a long time.

So, who can join?

• You are at least 18 years old, it is the only strict requirement.
• You are helpful and friendly.
• You are interested in roleplaying, it does not matter whether you are new to roleplaying or have a lot of experience.
• You have a casual play style, you like playing with kinmembers because it is fun.
• You are not the type of player who starts complaining if somebody is not as good at the game as you are (you are allowed to complain about pugs though).
• You have respect for fellow kinship members. There are many differences between players and we ask our members to respect that.
• Dwarves, elves, hobbits and men ranging from level 1 to level 75 are all welcome!
• Basically you can apply if you think you might fit in well based on the list in this post!
