The LI system gives me one giant headache. But among all my questions, here is the thing I have been wondering about recently the most: How can you tell whether a purple Third Age LI might be better than a teal Second Age LI?
I have been running for a while now with two Second Age items (which I raised to lvl 70), but now that I am Level 75 and have been questing through Dunland, I have been getting a *lot* of Third Age LI drops. I have been leveling these to 60/max and then deconstructing for the relics. However, I have the vague awareness that sometimes it might be better to slot a new Third Age in place of a Second Age, yes? Comparing the two, however, it feels like apples and oranges. What should I be focusing on to make this decision?
first equip level and legacy level are 2 different things. Second it depends on what the li gives you. For example as a hunter a 65 sa sword is better than a 75 ta sword since I don't use the melee skills much so the dps gain is outweighed by the legacy point gain. Now for a bow definitely a 75 ta bow is better than a 65 sa bow because the DPS matters. So the point is if the DPS or whatever stat it has is not a factor then the low level sa will be better than the 75 ta. Of course lvl 60 vs lvl 75, is a different story due to the difference in relics it can fit. Lastly since you get a free 75 sa for the doing the last epic book and they only cost 200 meds and 2000 or so marks replacing with all 75 sa's is not a challenge really. As that can be earned in a night or so of skirms or 2 isen 3 mans and skirms for the marks if you don't have them already.
