The sound engine is also suffering from issues of not properly syncing with the environment or even obeying or retaining player's volume level preferences.
For me, considering this was deemed release quality code, these issues are unforgivably shoddy.
And I bugged this issue myself on Bullroarer. From the comments of the other testers, as well as other players in game and on the forums, it seems widespread. But if further reporting is required..
Standing still, no issue.
Any motion, however? Issue. Often, the greater the motion, the greater the effect. The weapons are out of sync with the body, and the LI glow stencil is out of sync with the body and the weapon.
Turning. It's subtle, but notice the glow out of sync.
Emoting.

Um, this is the first Turbine's heard of this? Wow... Anyway, more photos for you (the pictures are a bit small because I used these on a somewhat scathing blog post :P):
Running:
Whilst fighting and an extra bonus of an invisible LM:
Whilst fighting, you can see the weapons and book don't even line up with the hands:
I find it's sometimes better. When running a couple skirmishes, the bobbing weapon wasn't so horrible but the second I left it, it was bad again.
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
Uh yah I bugged this within 1 minute of logging into Bullroraer 2 weeks ago. I hope they get those bug reports. I've done dozens over the years.
One thing to note, it was on my Warden on Bullroarer but not on my Warden on live after U7 shipped. Because my Warden on BR is so out of date and different than my Warden on live it is probably dependant on things like weapon type, scroll type, etc... who knows, maybe even gear/li combos are causing issues.
My hunter on live does have this problem though.
Curiously, the evolution of the internet seems inversely proportional to the evolution of man.
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
answer is that the 2 models are not updating at the same rate. the model rendering for the glowey part is a distinct render object from the weapon rather than a second pass using a different texture, and is lagging behind the weapon. Can't imagine why someone did not notice this in testing. Another big hint turbine its beleriand damage type my warden has it on spear which is beleriand but not my javelin which is westernese.

Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
I noticed that too after the update. Two handed weapons bob against the back and do not look attached. One hand weapons seem to be ok when sheathed but when in action it's another story...
My hobbit guard can't seem to hold onto her axe! Another annoying bug, it really affects screenshots, suddenly your hero is a clutz.
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
It's not just players either. While some monsters that wield monster-exclusive weapons seem to have no (or very very minor) issues, those that pull from the same pool as player weapons certainly do.
So do NPCs.

Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
yeah it sucks. i cant stand how the weapon bobs around while i am running. and the glow seems to be displaced and moves in different time than the weapon. also the glow flashes on and off, and seems to only cover half the weapon at times, then nothing at all then the whole weapon.
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
Weapon glows are constantly out-of-sync during fighting, it nearly makes me dizzy looking at all those extra blades swinging around. I just recorded a "slow-motion" clip of using Vexing Blow and Sweeping Cut on my guardian. Here's the video:
(That's recorded with Fraps at 100fps and encoded to 25fps with no frames dropped, in case you're wondering how to get that slow-motion to work. I recommend having a very fast hard drive though, total bitrate on the raw 1680x1050 video was "only" 2116800kbps. Yep, that's over two gigabytes per second...)

What on earth is going on with game development and quality assurance Turbine? The game literally feels like it's falling apart with every new content update. Seems like the more you do the more you guys mess up. I love lotro but everyone has a tipping point, and mine is getting very wobbly.

This opinion is hard to argue with. As much as I want to see Rohan, I would much rather see the game's most egregious bugs (of which this is one) fixed first.
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
Well on the plus side that's the first I've seen of that weapon skin for the FA staff, without that hideous glow which makes designing legendary weapons completely pointless. Might as well just make the basic shape if you're gonna cover it up with ugly effects.
/signed because it's a really annoying bug.
would also like to bring up again how much I'd LOVE it if they removed the effect from legendary items as they are shockingly unattractive.
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
I took two more short slow-motion clips for you. Again, my guardian being the movie star. First clip is directly from behind the character, second one kinda from one side, roughly 45 degrees angle or so. Glow being out-of-sync doesn't really look quite as horrible from behind as it looks from the side. Poor sync is quite visible even with normal speed, but this way it's easier to spot how the glow is always "lagging" behind the sword's movements.
On the latter video, the glow actually jumps quite a distance away from the sword once. (The second time it does that was likely due to a little freeze I had in-game. Apparently, demuxing and encoding a few clips while recording more stuff with two lotroclients running was a tad too much even for my monster of a computer and it's SSD drive. Multitasking ftw! :P)
It gets a bit annoying if/when you look the character from close distance when moving or fighting. I can't really remember having this kind of issues before.

On the plus side, this bug is so blatant that when a patch comes out I don't see how they could skip this fix. I was able to ignore it at first, focus on other things, but the bug is so glaring it drags the eye back to it.

Nice motion, but she would get a lot more power if she turned her hips during the forehand. And lay back that wrist or she is going to sprain it. How is her serve?

Jadzi - thank you for opening this thread and for all the work you put into collecting the information, and thanks everyone else for providing so much additional evidence. I spread as much rep around as I could.

It really seems to affect anything that goes in the hand, including crafting tools. I'm going to lose a foot someday with my forester axe wandering around like that. :-p
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
Hehe, this was kinda funny... Here's more proof about the bug's existence for you all;
I just checked the Dev Tracker and saw that Galloping Gala Screenshot Contest: The Winners thread was just posted and went to check them out. Yeah, I know, I can already hear you asking how that is related to the discussion in this thread... That's quite simple; Misplaced, or out-of-sync weapon glows are very clearly visible in one of the winning screenshots, specifically in the first one.

Wow that is ridiculous! Well they definitely can't deny there is a problem, still waiting on this being listed as a known issue!
But GOSH looks at those javelins! I had no idea what they looked like underneath that garish glow! So cool! Why would you go and spoil a design like that?!
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
It seems to be independent of graphical settings, as well. I normally run on DX 11 with what the "optimal settings" button gives me (which comes out to Very High).
But it also shows up on the lowest settings.
And under DX9.
And under DX10.

Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
xRaina mentioned (in the "7.1" thread on the Bullroarer forum) that the devs were working on a fix for this, but there was no ETA at the time (May 25).
Can anyone tell us if there's been progress on the fix?
The bow -- and unsync'ed glow effect -- bouncing around on my Hunter's back is not a game breaker for me. It won't keep me from playing the game. But it is verrrrry annoying to watch. Please prioritize the work being done to fix it!
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
Interestingly, my Halberd bounces annoyingly only in DX9. When I switch to DX10, it stops bouncing up and down on my back, but the glowy effects still flicker (get out of sync with the blade as it moves front to back slightly).
Re: Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
I haven't seen any new discussion about this, and I want to keep the issue alive.
Turbine, I'm sure you're working on it. Please, please, make the work a priority! What an eyesore it is to watch a misaligned bow and glow-effect bobbing crazily every. minute. I. play. my. hunter.
*bump* This affects my own toon, other player toons, and any npcs I come across. It's horrible and it's been going on for over 6 weeks now. No changes to DX or ATI Catalyst options fixes this. This is on your end Turbine. Please please please get this fixed.
I just logged on after three months break. Experiencing the same issue... My legendary bow bobbing randomly against my back, phasing through the robes, etc. This has never happened to me before, so I'm guessing it's a latest update's fault. Of course I can't seem to fix it. This is a client issue (and a serious, graphic one), and so we must depend on you, TURBINE, to fix it as soon as possible.
I just hope you don't mess up anything else with another update... I mean, I hope you will break the habit of doing so.
I didn't notice this at all until I was forced to downgrade (high end computer to 7 yr old e-machine), didn't think anything of it until I saw this thread. Hmm, after I move August 1st I'll be back up on my high end computer and will check it out more then.
Re:Weapon Bobbing Issues (Or 'Help help my swords are trying to escape!')
We had another thread that they closed so glad to see I'm not only one still having these probs...and I have bugged it several times, with my full puter specs etc. One thing I've noticed is a missing dx9 folder in my lotro folder. There are core folders for dx10 and dx11 and one also for opengl.....but not one for dx9...my computer can only use dx9, WinXp pro. Its running dx9 and shows latest driver which I roll-backed(did not help) and then re-updated. I ran dxdiag and dx9 files seem okay, with the usual missing ones from other threads being present. In any case, I have enclosed my screenies of what daily life in middle earth is like on my toons. Sometimes the weapons appear almost in their normal positions..usually mounting or combat changes that...warden almost always is surfing his board/shield...very sad and hope they are able to recreate prob and fix it soon.
Wow. So not only was there no fix for any of the patches, but it's clearly not in the B0 build for Rohan?
this may seem like a small thing to some, but it looks absolutely ridiculous when walking/riding around, and quite honestly it started ruining my game experience. I can't stand looking at my character's back anymore....
It seems to me that predominantly taller characters have this problem. Yes, some sllight bobbing on my dwarf as well but playing my cappy is just weird. If there's no fix with RoR (a likely scenario) I'd guess we're getting a fix either in december or next summer... maybe
