Thread: Forum Name Change?

Dunno if this is the right section, but I didn't spy one better, so here's my question.

I would love to change my forum name, as I made this one back in '07 and it seems rather silly to me now. However, I would like to make sure i can link it to my toons and such. At one point I made an alternate forum name that I access with my login information, but for some reason, I can't link it to my ingame characters, nor can I upload my own avatar, which is rather disappointing. So is there a way to change the name and keep all the benefits I mentioned?

The only time Turbine will change your forum handle is if the name is a violation of the CoC - profane, racist, sexual, drug, hate... Early on Turbine did. They got so many rename requests. Not doing it anymore.

Otherwise, you have to create a new free account with the name you want to post with. You can't operate on your gaming account with your posting account. Best you can do is link them via the friend's option. Uploading an Avatar - I believe that is VIP benefit. Not available to Free accounts. I don't know about Premium accounts.

This is too bad. I would really like to change my forum name from the "star wars - ish" to a more LOTRO appropriate name. I'm done with sw and was hoping to get something more noble.

I wish I could change my name too. Too bad they couldn't automate the system instead of needing GMs for a name change. :/

I believe Turbine does not want customers trying to hide their identity by changing their name. You build a reputation based on your forum handle. You have to start over from scratch when you get a new name.

We have kins on Meneldor that dissolve themselves every so many weeks. They get a new charter. New name. It takes us a while to realize that Kin Beta is the replacement for jerk kin Alpha.

Meneldor has a few proud Jerk Kins. If they could have a in game motto, it would be something like driving Meneldor crazy since 2008. One hundred thousand residents annoyed.
