I have not stooped to your level yet. You and Axetoe need to stay out of threads that are meant to be positive.
Just to clarify my post was meant in a sarcastic way not in a positive way I did not see my name on the list so just wanted to make sure we all understand sorry for any confusion I may have caused. I was only giving him congratulations on the points he recived on his Ba prior to making the decision to acquire infamy in a style that the majority of the creep community frowns upon any infamy he earned during or after that decision to acquire infamy in a less than sporting manor that I personally find to be deplorable I do not congratulate him on and take offense that this thread was made with out any disclaimer that not all infamy that resulted in reaching R12 was earned in the style of 99% of the former, current and hopefully future Playerbase.
First of all, someone called out Ishot for killing a sub-level 75 freep repeatedly. Said freep was actually playing and using skills. It is up to you to decide if this is rank farming. I, and many other creeps, have purposely sought out the level 40-74 freeps to kill. I guess that make us a rank farmers.
I would suggest that people start looking at themselves and those around them with regard to rank farming. Almost every freep rank farms. If you have been on BM, you are a rank farmer. If you kill a greenie you are a rank farmer. I cant tell you how many greenie creeps auto run out of grams or a rez so their buddies can kill them repeatedly. Anyone that tags them could be considered a rank farmer. All of the people who consistently flip sides depending on who is 'winning' could be considered rank farmers. All of you high and mighty freeps and creeps need to take look around before you start pointing fingers. Look at all the exploitation done freep side from high ranked freeps. Clean up your own house before you go pissing in someone elses.
All that being said, R12 creepside is a long haul. If you think rank farming all the way to R12 is easy, go try it. Let me know how you fare after 18-24 months.
Never saw him do it, dont really care if he did, all I know is this guy is always on, in your face, and up front in the mix. Hands down the most aggresive creep out there as of late. So grats.

Pretty much every example you named comes naturally with open world pvp, what does not come naturally is farming your own or a friends characters.

Agreed. Nice job on rank 12. Keeping setting an aggressive example out there, hopefully it will catch on.
The question here is, how long should we hold grudges in a video game?
I was one of those who once caught him farming one of BD's freeps a few years ago (by GV if I recall correctly). I called him out on it in ooc and his response was something to the effect of "so? lol"
I've also caught another creep farming a freep on more than one occasion s/sw of DG. I liked the guy and his groups but hated his farmimg, so it was mixed virtual emotions. He since transferred servers. And there was a third creep I saw farming a kinmate up at GV. This too happened a few years ago. It's amazing what you see when you roam a lot. And then there was the Grams farming a few nights ago. /sigh
In any case, how long does one hold a grudge? Yes, I admit whenever I see Ishotu, the first thing that immediately comes to my mind is "rank farmer" even though I haven't seen him doing that in a long time. And admittedly I don't heal him most of the time because of it (apparently I still have a virtual grudge). However, he is one of the more aggressive creeps on the server, and I don't think I've seen him complaining about defeat. He also sometimes answers questions from the newbies, and his ooc attitude in general is decent.
So do I keep thinking "rank farmer" when I see him? I probably will simply because it's ingrained in my mind after all these years. And his nonchalant attitude about it years ago didn't help. It's hard to congratulate someone on rank when a lot of those points have come from farming another freep who didn't resist in any way.
But I also don't want to be one of those people who holds grudges forever. I don't do that IRL, in most cases, so it seems pointless to do it in a video game when I don't even know the person, and his actions just involved pixels. When I log out of the game, none of it matters. And I really shouldn't have bothered writing all of this out since it doesn't matter, but I wanted to give people food for thought.
So.... congratulations on the points you have earned *legitimately*, and I hope the rank farming is long over. A sincere apology years ago would have gone a long way, but it's probably too late for that now.

First thing I think of when I see him is tool, but I've always kinda pondered that too gassy. Honestly I don't care if somebody rank farms, just makes them look bad when they lose cuz they don't know how to play their classes like you would expect. I have some respect for him now at least, everyone congratulates him on aggressiveness and he always does bring a good fight. Props to him for always tracking me and actually fighting me, over the people that track me and ill wait for them and they won't jump me until they have friends.
And before somebody says that I think its ok for somebody to rank farm if they know how to play their classes, I don't think its ok;however, I do think it doesn't matter if they farmed a little bit when 99% of their rank was legit. People always need somebody to hate lol. So grats on 99% r12 than.
Lol. killing a greenie is all fair game pugga. its not like u have greenies lined up for u to kill. u still have to hunt them. Bm is not rank farming theres still a challenge in earning the kill.

well generally he wont fight unless all of his cd are up. everybody is aggressive if they have things to fall back on. if he doesnt have anything up he will completely avoid you.

True to an extent, we've both fought 1v1s around the map without CDs plenty of times. I just wanted to give him props for always putting up a fight
is amazing how far this thread has gone. Like Gassy, first thing that comes to mind is rank farmer. It is just part of our nature to remember things that are either extraordinary (in the sense of beyond the norm). We all know he ranked farmed before, and massively from r8-r11. He did come around and started playing legitimately and earned part of his rank 11.
I think most people found this post either as a joke or ridiculous as, most likely, half or more of that infamy was farmed.
Point to take from this is, the guy has turned around, and I guess with time, we will soon forget or learn to accept him as another player in a video game.
And yes, Gassy the guy's comments in OOC seems amicable. (apologies if you are a girl :P)
Some of you may have noticed that Ishotu is a member of Morgul Blades now. For clarification, rank farming is strictly not allowed. Following a Officer vote on his membership, he was spoken to about the rules on rank farming and understands what we here in tribe expect. I can honestly say the dude is very happy with us, and I don't see farming being a future issue.
On a side note, Turbine is solely to blame for having rank farming (a known way to cheat the system) not against any kind of code of conduct. But then again, they really blew it by letting PvE (questing) contribute to your PvP level... or as we know it Inf/Renown. Whats to stop people from farming slug meat 24/7 and achieving r12? I do know that doing such, would infact take some serious dedication, and concentration skills to do something so repetitive and boring. Kinda like rank farming....

So the way I read this Bloodloaf is that its okay to farm your rank before you join the tribe but you have to stop once you are a member ?

You can lay the blame on turbine for allowing it but at the end of the day its the player that makes the decision on how they play the game just like in real life your actions dictate how others percive you and for me someone who takes the easy route and farms up there rank so they unlock skills battle field promotions etc etc to make them self stronger to compete on a higher level is a slap in the face of every creep who has gone through or going through the pains of playing a grennie creep.
Accepting this type of behavior will only encourage more of it but if some players are okay playing with Rankfarmers so there infamy bar can move a little faster to the right then more power to ya hopefully you can hit rank 15 before the last hampster dies and the servors shut down for good.

Thats right Caz, Ishotu technically didn't do anything against lotro rules. Do I support rank farming, absolutely not. Do I believe in giving the guy a shot to redeem himself and prove to the tribe and to the arkenstone community that he is a skilled pvp gamer, absolutely. Not once has the guy ever acted like a tool in ooc, or forums as I can remember. He continually helps others in tribe, get there maps, and encourages people by saying good job. Even after defeat. He not once complains about how unfair things are, and how uneven the sides are. He's a good guy if you had given him a chance to get to know him. If you want to talk about real life situations, lets just say our very own jurisdiction system as multiple ways for people to redeem themself. If you want to talk about whats fair about rank and aquiring skills associated with rank... I baught rank 9-15 skills the very first day I was allowed to on the infamous Lotro store. As did a vast majority of everyone else. Against the rules? No. I choice Lotro made available to us. How you wish to judge those who did is up to you. Same with rank farmers. Unfortunately like I have said, farming is not against lotro rules.... But IS against MB standards... It's the least I can do to enforce what I believe to be right.
Fankly, If I gave you a name of a toon that has done ZERO actual pvp, and ALL pve... and is rank 6 how would you feel about that? Is that not a slap in the face? This person has no kills, and no kb's. Bunch of deaths for being ganked along the way... It's the same thing.. turbine did us all wrong with the quest for points system....

But he put himself out there, not sitting alone in some corner of the map farming his or a friends toons over and over.
Rank farming is something no one considers legitimate means of ranking, i ask again, why are you trying to rationalize and compare it to other things?

Rationalize? lol, I'm simply saying Lotro obviously doesn't care about making it's PvP ranks legit when such things that compromise them are continually allowed to happen. Hence... I don't agree with Turbine, or rank farming.. as I have stated above.
Rank is stupid and worth about as much as a bucket of piss on either side now. Before when rank meant something Ishotu farmed it so it he could attempt to be good ( he failed as he is still a miserable excuse for a ba). I think this is a lowering of standards for MB, though you did let pugga join so its not like the standards were high.

It also takes a lot longer to get rank by doing pve than it does by farming someone's creep. I could go out to some remote corner (or be especially stupid and not even try to hide it) and farm someone's freep and get what... 100 points for the first kill? Then 95 or so? Then 90? Not sure how fast it decrements. That's still A LOT faster than running around the map gathering items to hand in.
So even though Turbine gave creeps a way to get infamy by doing pve quests, I don't see how that correlates to rank farming. It doesn't matter that both are boring, Blood. One goes a lot faster than the other, and the player base in general accepts the one Turbine explicitly added (pve quests). Turbine didn't say, "hey, go farm your bud for infamy." They *did* say "hey, go hand in pve quests for infamy".
But if people want to rationalize it, so be it. lol Different strokes for different folks.

I think it is perfectly understandable and respectable even that you guys put aside Ishotu's past atrocities and let him into your tribe....HOWEVER, he does not deserve a "congratulations on RANK" thread when he obviously farmed a decent amount of it, he has earned nothing.
Blood I like you Gorgurth and Gas a lot, but Morgul Blades is even worse than the second version of the Immortals.

You people really don't get me do you? Let me try to explain it to you all a little more clearly, although I had thought it was already pretty clear. Bloodloaf = mad at turbine for ruining what he thinks Infamy Reknown should stand for. Points for actually doing PvP. Bloodloaf = mad that if you try to report someone for rank farming, OR mention so and so is doing this and that on forums, Turbine will ban you for harrassing a player that is not breaking any set lotro rules. Bloodloaf = Not supporting Turbines lack of care on this subject. Bloodloaf says, Turbine should have installed a rule against rank farming as it is a known way to cheat, therefor should be punishable by lotro law. Bloodloaf says, Turbine should never have installed pve encouragement but should have explored other ways to bring pvp to the lesser used areas of our pretty little sand box. Okay Kiddies did I make myself clear?
