    EULA violations not enforced

I entered a ticket the other day for a EULA naming violation. The violating player was using a one letter variant spelling of Chuck Norris for a character name. The ticket #2616758 was closed by +Magnolia+ without requiring a name change. Since the GMs do not discuss these issues I have come to the forums. I'm interested in finding out which parts of the EULA Turbine has choosen not to enforce. It seems pointless to report such things if Turbine has no interest in enforcement. Thanks.

I'm often surprised at some of the names I see. Many are downright disgusting and I wonder how some of these people have made it to level 75.

In the early days my friend had to change his name from Ocra Windfree because it was to close to that other persons name....over the years they have gone away from nailing people down for stuff like that..Shame really..

Just find Chuck and direct him to the nearest stable out of middle earth and back into the 21st century..
On a serious note though, probably half or more of the people who play never read the rules. But, at any rate, these things do require a warning, reason given, and a name change.

    Re: EULA violations not enforced

From what I've seen, names that aren't VERY obvious violations (meaning obscenities and similar issues) generally require more than one person reporting and more than one GM seeing the reports before a change is enacted. Not saying that's good or bad, just what I've noticed.

But you should also keep in mind that we are not allowed to discuss specific cases (or specific GM names) on the forums, so you may want to rephrase your question to a more general one (and then prepare some popcorn to watch the usual flame war that results between those who report names and those who hate the idea of reporting names).

    Re: EULA violations not enforced

It is not worth putting in a name violation report for anything other than Code of Conduct violation names - hate speech, drug, sexual, profane, racial violations. They do not much with names that are named after famous actors or other things unless it is an exact match. Even then they often do anything. We used to have a Jimkirk and Jameskirk Menedlor. As far as I know they still exist.

Turbine doesn't like advertisement names. Cocacola probably will not fly. Even with Fellowship of the Ring member names. You don't have to change em much. Boromir - changed. Baromir - changed. Once you get to Borromiir -two letter or more. You might get away with it. If you change the sound, you are likely to get away with. Doromir is likely to be left alone.

My recommendation is that if names like this bother you play on one of the Role Playing servers like Laurelin which have a stricter naming policy and heavier enforcement.

I only report CoC violations names or the Aragorn type names. My hatred for Aragorn names is the hassle of dealing with Leggolas, Legoolas, Legolaas, Legolass. Trying to remember and interact with them is a big hassle.
