I came across one of those shiny star-lit crystals and was tempted to put it on my melee 2nd age, but I was wondering if this would increase the Fist - Spear threat up from rank 9 to rank 10, 11, 12? Has anyone put some of these crystals on a warden weapon? I don't really care about increasing dps as I mostly just tank and if it doesnt increase my threat, i might just use all crystals on my rk for high dps/heals instead. If anyone has done it can link or share, that'd be great.
Well naturally they do more for a DPS weapon than a tanking weapon, as they increase the base DPS as well as DPS legacies
Whether its better on your javelin or your spear depends what legacies you use...they don't give any benefit to straight-percentage legacies (ie 10% Spear Damage or 10% Reck Attack Speed), so the more of those you have, the less useful SCs are on any given weapon.
the answer to the OP is no. I have 1 star lit crystal on both my tanking weaps, the only stuff that increases is stats, like vit etc, dps by a small margin (2-3) and parry rating/block rating etc those sort of buffs. No changes w/e to any legacy relating to skill % increase, rating increase, or -duration.
I think the damage increase was from 286 to 311, not 100% sure. Also I was sure when I first capped the Vitality legacy on it it was +44, now it reads +47, guessing the stats either increase with weapon levels or I can't read lol.

Yeah stat ranks increase a little (just like they do from SA to FA, just less). Anyway, thanks for posting.
Its quite sad that wardens are the only class that doesnt really benefit from these crystals...
Huh? Everyone always benefits from more DPS on their weapons. And here's a list of all the legacies that (I think) SLCs should affect....ones I'm more certain of with asterisks, since those are explicitly rating-based, the "duration" and "range" ones may or may not:
Five of those starred ones (ICMR, SM Block, ST Tact Mit, Fist Evade, Fist Crit) are very commonly used ones, too, so its not like we only get SLC bonuses to junk legacies.

First of all, I fail to see how my tanking ability benefits noticeably from adding some dps. Sure, it's nice when soloing, but in raid or even FS settings it seems to me quite irrelevant.
Anyway, the point is not so much that these legacies aren't used much, the point is that the difference in the bonuses to evade, crit, block, parry is exactly 40. i.e., utterly negligible. (Hadn't thought of ICMR/ICPR yet, because I don't use those, and I already have tact mit capped without the legacy.) Now obviously, pretty much the same is true for the increase from SA->FA (ignoring the extra legacy points you get from that), but I still find it somewhat bothersome that some roles gain so much more from upgrading their LIs than others..
(PS. I don't know how large the effect of the increase in shield rank/threat gen is for guards, but I am guessing it is at least slightly larger than what, 0.1-0.2%?)
You know how our threat effects are all 1/2x, 1x, 2x, 3x etc. What if that 'x' was impacted by an aspect of our main hand LI somehow? DPS would be the most obvious choice I guess.
I'm not suggesting that having a 1st age with 3 starlit crystals should make tanking trivial but it'd be nice if there was a meaningful progression route for our primary role. As it stands, I'd argue there isn't the same incentive for us to continue running end-game content to try and get a 1st age as there is for any other class.
to the last post id have to agree. Get 2 gen spear and jav. Because they are easy to get. If i were going to make a first gen id give it to my rk or my girlfriends toons not my warden. Because it does not mater in any meaningfull way unless i went to the moors a lot. And if 2 gens were hard to get id still be using 3 gens. I could get the legacies i want to the levels i want on a 3 gen just fine. a higher gen just means i have more points to put in vit legacies etc. Honestly if i had the symbol for a 1 gen id probably sell it as when the cap goes to 85 in a couple months its all trash.
Change your point of view and change the way you perceive everything.

More DPS=more damage threat. Not a lot, of course, but every bit counts.
Regardless, the poster I was replying to said that Wardens "are the only class that doesnt really benefit from these crystals...", and while tanking wardens do benefit less, I was pointing out out that its not like they dont benefit any wardens at all.

Not only that. Threat is based on a 0.5*X, 1*X, 2*X etc., X being based on some sort of autoattack which somehow must be based on the damage of your weapon. So, more damage means more threat, not just because it's more damage, but because it is the basis for the "X".

Unless weapon damage affects the SoV or EoB threat component, then no, every bit does not count. Because unless it does, we aren't even talking about a 1% increase; whereas my hunter got a 7.5% boost to his dps. This is what the "really" in "really benefits" refers to.
You are of course free to keep repeating that you do feel that wardens benefit, but unless you can come up with arguments why you think this is the case, and unless you can show that we're talking about a more than 0.2% increase, I don't really see what your opinion is based on.

Based on the fact that not every warden is a pure tanking warden, and there's more to the class than just pretending you're a turtle...
I did specifically give the caveat that pure tanking wardens dont get as much from SLCs, you'll note, but my point was that you cant say that wardens as an entire class dont benefit from them.
