The Lorebook Character Sheets have been broken (at least) since the Update 7 release. That is to say, none of the items on the character sheet are displayed, only question marks. They were all present roughly 2 weeks prior to the release -- the last time I checked.

Technically, this isn't the Lorebook, which I assume is officially supported.
The character sheets are part of the my.lotro.com site, which as the joke goes is in perpetual Beta,
so not officially supported.
That said, the my.lotro site is indeed acting very strangely. In addition to the missing items, it appears
that the kinship log/kin status isn't updating, and the major stats of characters only appear to be
updating maybe once a week. This was definitely happening before Update 7, though, as the new
characters that a buddy of mine and I created a couple of weeks ago (which I pulled into the kin)
appeared in the kinship list as just names, no race, class, or level until just a day or so ago, and
even then, they're at least several days out of date.
Additionally, some of the Moria revised quest locations need to be updated. Those of us that have done the same quests a number of times are now lost when the cheese is moved.
It's a combination of the two, lorebook and character sheet. The sheet takes it's item info from the lorebook afterall.
Given that some of the missing items are from before u7 it's not just an issue thats come from u7 content. I stopped trying to use it to check gear regarding crafted upgrades as either one or other would be missing from the lorebook.
Characters do quite often seem to take far too long to get any kind of up to date info about them on the sheet.

The broken gear icons are definitely Lorebook, and are definitely broken. The lorebook code supplies the icons. As an example, the URL for one icon on my char page is: "http://lorebook.lotro.com/icon.php?id=1879216965&type=item". If you go there you'll get a 500 error, which is server-ese for "That script is way broken, man". Firefox/Chrome will show broken image icons, and IE will show the question mark.
So that PHP script is broken, and has been for months. Turbine is apparently too busy to care.

I stand by my original assertion: The Lorebook is working and the Character page is not.
If you go back and look at the HTML code for the character page (where you got the link listed above)
and you visit the link to the left of the one you listed, you'll find that page of the Lorebook exists,
and the icons for the item also exist. Yes, it is likely that something on the Lorebook side has changed
or is no longer supported, but the Lorebook is not broken, it's the character sheet generation that needs
fixing.
It also looks, from viewing the code, like Rakeesh called it - the character page
code has not changed, so they must have fixed it on the Lorebook side.
I'll just sit right over here in the corner and enjoy my humble pie in peace.
