Are there any particularly good swords for LMs to look for from lvl 50 up? I've been using the lvl 50 Class quest reward sword up 'til my present lvl 64 and even though it does Light damage, it's max damage at 86 is getting long in the tooth.
Don't feel like I particularly need any more in-combat power regen. Get plenty from my two legendary items and maybe from my lvl 58 jewelry as well. Mostly solo questing is what I do and most of that blue to me as I try to explore every area. Even the few "power battery" fellowships I've done didn't run into power issues. (Think the power hangup is from my Hunter that I run for max damage and buffing him with ICPR to avoid power issues).
Will is decent I suppose at 644 with Fate 470, Vitality 319 and morale of ~3900. Perhaps I need to look for more max morale and Vitality in a sword to get that up some.
At 65 I remember using Ithillang but that only drops in Ost Dunhoth raid. As does Thaliongrist on Tier 2.
After that you are into Dunland and will be quickly replacing your hard won gear (including swords) with a lot of yellows and purples which give a lot higher stat bonuses and be cursing about it until you reach cap and can start crafting/grinding the current set of L75 teals.
Main: Tirnolwe of The Lost Companions, Laurelin (75LM)
Alts: Silithil (75CHP) Campion (75GRD) Alunadail (75MIN) Geirdis (75CP) Turbine no plans to fix MyLotro.
There are quite many one handed swords available for LMs after level 50.....one is the crafted lvl 51 blue sword of tactics....and there are various quest rewards too...
Personally I used Erymbes' Sword for quite a long while.....many months into being lvl 65... (till I got Amdillang)
I'd be interested to know if there are some good swords too. I occasionally inspect a high level Loremaster to see what they're carrying, but most of the time it seems to be a bog-standard Sword of Tactics.
Always worth a shufti over the AH to see what's being crafted or sold, there can be some occasionally viable world drops and the multi output crafted gear can have some good bonuses. Forget the actual dps and damage types, they add very little to your output, all you are interested in are stats.
ICPR comes back into significance in longer group play if it becomes an issue and can be buffed with Fate which also buffs your critical rating although neither buff as much that was as genuine +ICPR and +crit rating stats. Check out the offerings from factions as well although the Eriador faction stuff has become rather low level there could be something from the dwarfs in Moria.

Actually it is important....in all dps parses I've done, autoattacks have more than often stood as our second highest damage causing skill...only behind either Improved Staff Strike or Burning Embers (whichever crits). Autoattacks contribute a very huge chunk of our dps contrary to popular belief....
And in most instances other than tough content like Tower of Orthanc.......solo or anywhere where we're in dps role, LMs can and should be in melee range, using melee skills...

Last time I checked the auto attack from the staff did a lot, that from the sword does very little, hence my comment. To be fair, if the weapon does, eg, Beleriand damage, you will up the rate a smidgen, but I stand by the idea that the sword is primarily a buff device and vonus Will, for eample, by adding to Tac Mastery will do way more tac damage than the weapon itself in melee.
And yes, if its sensible to do so you should be in there walloping with the staff, and using sweep whenever its up.

If you're talking about level cap swords, these are the choices. Personally I'd say it's basically a wash between the two crafted swords for raiding (great river is marginally better, but Theodred sword has about 40 more ICPR which is one of our better raid stats), while Hanglang is clearly the best for pure DPS.
There is another ToO sword from Shadow NM, pretty nice for DPS:
I've been looking for a morale/vit/ICPR based sword for raiding, but no luck so far. Great river is probably best when it gets un-nerfed.
This is the sword I'm after. Got pretty excited when Ithilwegil dropped, then Celegmagol, now looking to upgrade for DPS a bit further with Manavagol..
outside of drop swords, if you're a weaponsmith or are friendly with one and have the rep, the critted Mirkwood recipe swords are pretty decent at 65 - especially the Malledrim Sword of Force. http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Weapo...Sword_of_Force
My only wish is that this sword looked as cool as its sister sword, the Malledrim sword of Defence http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Weapo...ord_of_Defence - It's all curvey and elvish, if you're into that kind of thing - stats though are more for agility types.
ohh, hadn't seen that one before. It's a straight upgrade from the one that drops from Saruman... the itemisation in this game is so bad!
I like this one too, for the Vit and TacMast.:
Deadly Straight Sword of the Brute
Bind on Equip
One-handed Sword
187 - 311 Beleriand Damage
131.1 DPS
+34 Fate
+67 Vitality
+352 Critical Rating
+704 Tactical Mastery Rating
Weaken: Opponent's power is transferred to you some of the time.
Attacker gains Power
Target is drained of Power
Durability 100 / 100

+352 Critical Rating

I know the recipe dropped from Orthanc...I *think* it was Saruman, but I'm not 100% certain. (Naturally, it's a one-shot recipe, so you'd naturally be well advised to get a Westfold Journal first).

you won't believe it (or probably you do)
for not ruining the attempt, i got the westfold journal AND the lore-scrolls for increased crit.
together with the best tools around the critchance was =63 %.

you gotta love crafting!
Scroll of the Ages could have given you +9% if you could get one. These rare one use scrolls are about the first content I have seen where the use of one could be justified and with RoR so soon the gear will be obsolete in three months or less.

Fate is a most fickle mistress. I criticaled on my Journal, then Criticaled on my sword, then failed to critical on making a dagger for someone else.
I also looking for a sword for my new LM for lv75. I checked all in this page, but I think the book one is not a bad choice. Daledh-cledhu
113.9DPS
60 Will
60 Vitality
54.6 ICPR
158 max moral.
Vita is good because miti/resist, will because power vs pure tact mastery.
I miss from the Manavagol some vitality, for T2 TOO maybe a little bit better sword not a big ask.
So actually I do not know exactly what I like to do. I can craft all sword include the Deadly Straight Sword of the Brute, that is not bad but first I earn a little bit more will before I drop 60. But now I feel the book one is my middle way choice.
